DIRECT ADVERTISING Advertising that is direct in its address to the audience. This is the most conventional type of advertising and examples include trailers, TV and print adverts, web banners, flyer etc. The key is to create a design that will attract your core target audience but more importantly that the advert will be seen by them - so you have to be precise which TV station/website/magazine you choose to host your ad. TRAILERS Trailers can used as TV adverts, can be put on Youtube to allow fans and press to embeds to their site or share. They should set the tone of the playing experience, be entertaining or, like in the case of Hitman Absolution, be controversial to ensure it is talked about. OUTDOOR ADVERTISING Billboards, bus stop advertising and these huge building size Max Payne 3 banners are expensive but can be effective when placed in areas of heavy footfall/ traffic. WEB ADVERTISING Advertising on the web can be highly effective for many reasons. It can interactive and one click can take consumers to a point of purchase/download. Analytics can be used to get precise information about who is looking at your ad and/or looking at the website you placed it on. PRINT ADVERTISING Print advertising is less important than it used to be due to the decline in sales of magazines. However, the A4 format allows for striking design and clear presentation of relevant information (rating, release date, reviews quotes). The most valuable part of the mag is the back page as this as visible as the cover when others are reading. STICKERS Not used that often for major games as they have such a precise, localised reach but these GTA 4 sticker found on a club wall in New York among the band flyers we given extra exposure when photographed and put on social media.
