Dress Code Information Cavelero Mid High School strives to develop students who are committed learners. Our goal is to keep our students here at school. We want students to respect themselves and others. While we encourage individuali-ty, our dress code also encourages a positive and healthy learning environment. Students should dress casu-ally and comfortably for school, while wearing clothing that is well-suited for school. Clothing inappropriate to an academic environment is defined as clothing which disrupts the educational process, poses a health or safety threat, or contains prohibited imagery or language (see below). CMHS administration has the right to identi-fy other factors that may be related to school safety or climate.

All undergarments must be completely covered at all times.

Shorts and skirts must be longer than fingertip length when arms are extended at sides. To help our stu-dents be successful at school our dress code was revised. Part of the revision includes length of pants, skirts and shorts and addresses holes in clothing.

Please click on to take you Student Handbook/Dress Code see page 10.

Clothing must cover torso, midriff and backside, and have sleeves or 2” straps. Tops should fully cover the chest area.

Students must be readily identifiable at all times. Therefore, faces must be uncovered (no sunglasses) and hoods are not allowed inside the building. Appropriate head covers may be worn for warmth and protection outdoors, and inside for religious reasons or special circumstances approved by administration.

Please leave beachwear, short shorts, and pajamas at home.

Clothing, drawings, tattoos and accessories that display or promote negative messages are not permitted. These could include drug, gang, weapon, alcohol or tobacco-related information, obscenities, put-downs, stereotypes, sexual innuendo, offensive words or graphics.

Staff members will ask students to fix dress code concerns (administration may be involved). A violation of the dress code will require a change of clothing or a fix to the item in question. If the outcome of this dia-logue continues to find the student violating the dress policy, he/she will be asked to report to counseling or the main office to change or find a suitable solution. If a student, for any reason, is unable to find clothing appropriate for the above standards they are asked to visit the counseling office for support. Provisions will be made to find the student appropriate clothing for the remainder of the day on a case by case basis. This may include asking the student to change into an appropriate article of clothing they own, asking the stu-dent to cover the offending item with another article of clothing, or (in the case of offensive language or graphics) asking the student to turn the article of clothing inside out. If no alternate provisions can be found, the student’s parent(s) or guardian may be contacted to provide them with an appropriate article of clothing and discuss next steps. Again, our goal is to keep all students at school and we want to thank you for your help with being proactive at home and enforcing expectations for appropriate school attire.

Cavelero Mid High School is excited to have the WeatherBug forecast for Lake Stevens. The WeatherBug program partners with King 5 news and you will occasionally see our weather station information highlighted by meteorologist Jeff Renner. The data collected by our weather station will also support our students and staff in our science and health classes! To view please click on the link below.

STUDENT PICK UP AND DROP OFF To assist morning student drop off go smoothly please pull as far forward as you can. Also to assist us with student safety please do not pick up your students in the bus loop parking lot area. Buses are coming and going and students are walking throughout this parking lot. Please look for students and other vehicles as you enter and leave our school. As always, please use the student pick up area in the front of the school and pull forward to allow all parents access to drop off and pick up their students . Thank you for all of your help!

STUDENT PICK UP AT LUNCH If you need to pick up your student during lunch for an appointment please have your student bring a note to the main office in the morning. That way your student can come down before his or her lunch begins and be ready to go. Thank you.

Cavelero considers regular attendance to be a necessary part of student learning. We believe regular attendance instills a sense of responsibility in each student that will carry over after their time here. With this in mind we have an attendance policy which states a student may lose credit if they exceed 10 (excused or unexcused) absences in any semester. Students are allowed to retrieve up to 5 excused absences through their attendance at Saturday School or after school Study Corral. If you have any questions regarding attendance please contact Shanna Pyzer in the Attendance office at 425-335-1629 or email [email protected]
