Email 2 Subject: Housing Deposit Information Day 5

Since this may be your first time leaving home, I thought you might have a few questions about your housing deposit! Here are some specifics that will help you understand how it is used and what is does for you!

What is my deposit for? A $300 housing deposit is required from each student living on campus prior to receiving a housing assignment. This deposit holds your place in the building from year to year. This means that those on campus students with housing deposits are guaranteed housing if they have a deposit on file!

What happens with it at the end of the year? Your housing deposit will be retained from year to year until your last semester in housing. This is good for you since it lessens the number of things you need to have in place before returning to school each year.

What happens to my deposit when I leave Trinity Housing? Your housing deposit is fully refundable less any charges for cleaning and damages to your apartment if requested by the dates listed below. An apartment cleaning list is available at the RA office.

July 1- Last day for students moving off campus to request a change in housing status and a refund of your housing deposit for Fall Semester. No refunds are given after the end of business day on July 1 (new or returning students). Forms are available with the Director of Residence Life and Housing.

November 1-  Last day for students moving off campus to request a change in housing status and a refund of your housing deposit for Spring Semester. No refunds are given after the end of business day on November 1 (new or returning students). Forms are available with the Director of Residence Life and Housing.

Please contact the Director of Residence Life and Housing for any questions regarding your housing deposit!

Email 3Subject: Roommate Information Day 8

{NAME},

Room assignments are an important part of the college experience. Our experience has shown that students who have successful roommate assignments have a better experience at Trinity. Our experience also tells us that students who request to room together their freshman year at Trinity have a low success rate. It is often difficult to live with a friend and causes unnecessary stress on the relationship. For this reason, Trinity does not allow freshmen to request roommates.

Once a housing deposit has been received, students are placed with a roommate with similar interests, study habits, and sleep patterns. We make every attempt at placing students in their preferred housing type but this is not always possible. We try to make every connect a positive one and this requires each student to fill out the Housing Questionnaire, sent in your Welcome to Housing email, in a timely manner.

Room assignments are made according to the following dates:

July 15: Students who submit their housing deposit by June 1 will receive their housing assignment by this date.

August 7: Students who submit their housing deposit between June 1 and July 1 will receive their housing assignment by this date.

Welcome Weekend Check-In: Students who submit their deposit after July 1 will receive their housing assignment when they arrive at check-in.

In the weeks prior to your arrival, you will receive the contact information for all your roommates. We strongly recommend you contact your roommates and discuss who will be bringing specific items for your apartment. No need for two TVs if everyone is willing to share!

All roommates are required to complete a roommate agreement. It is designed to articulate behaviors that all occupants agree to abide by and as such will cover topics that will help create a welcoming and peaceful living environment. Such topics may include cleaning habits, quiet hours within the apartment, and visitor arrangements. This agreement must be posted in each unit and will help roommates to create a living environment that is respectful and safe for its residents. Please take a look at the Roommate agreement form below so that you can begin thinking about how you would like to address these things with your future roommates!
