Mission Statement• The Mission of the Department of

Education is to promote student achievement and prepartion for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access. It engages in four major types of activities which are:

• Esstablsih policies related to federal education funding, administers distribution of funds and moniters ththeir use.

• Collects data and oversees research on America's  schools.

• Indentifies major issues in educaton and focuses national attention on them.

• Enforces federal laws prohibiting discrimination in programs that recieve federal funds.

Current NewsTons of states are getting lots of money to support education jobs. Wyoming will recieve 17.5 million dollars to support the education jobs.The money will help keep teachers in the class room teaching.over the last two years the education department has been able to help 300,000 jobs. This is a great thing to do!

Biography Of Arne Duncan

Arne Duncan is the secratary of the Department of Education! He was elected on Januare 20, 2009. Beside that, he served as chief executive in Chicago public schools. He has recieved alot of rewards such as the niagara foundatin educatuon award, the national foundation for teaching entrepreneurship enterprising educator award and the university high school distinguished alumni award. Arne Duncan also was named Citizen of the Year in Chicago. Arne Duncan has two children named Claire and Ryan. Claire is a girl and is 8 and Ryan is a boy and is 5. They both go to a public school. Arne Duncan is married to Karen Duncan.

Christina: Lead health education specialist Salary: 101,035 to 131,313 a year  Qualifications: What you need to qualify for this job is a degree that was a major study in education on that subject. You would also have to graduate from college and turn in your college transscript. A college transscript shows what you have done in college and how you did. You have to have the ability to do that certain job.   Decription: They protect people from diseases and health threats. This agency is a health promotion, preparedness, and prevention agency.
