High Rise Housing, Knoxville, TN
This project was done in Spring 2011 under Professor Moir-McClean during the fi rst year of the graduate program.
A predominantly housing complex with retail in the street level. Consideration of daylighing and natural ventilation in design. Walkability and pedestrian movement considered.
The circulation in the housing unit to provide maximum possibility of interaction between the residents.
Movement from garages to the residences involve walking through the retail and food court sections. This provides opportunity for the residents to pick up food, bread and milk before walking into their residences.
The courtyards and lobby spaces a;so function as spaces where greetings are partaken.

Existing Site
This project was done in Fall 2010under Professor Goeritz during the fi rst year of the graduate program.
We had to plan for a disconnected site in Knoxville. The programme consisted of residential, offi ces, market and cultural spaces, detention center, parking and green space. The overall planning was done as a team of three and I detailed out the detention center. We tried to maintain the connection through a greenway as well as a pedestrian entry from Western Avenue.

The detention center was naturally isolated by the highway and the second creek. It sits low below the highway, without being too proud.
In addition an earth berm was proposed all around. This ensured that the natural light and ventilation were not compromised.

This project was done in Fall 2012 under Professor Spaw during the fi nal year of the graduate program.
The program was the individuals choice. This was designed to be a compact low-lying building that respected the surroundings. The whole building was elevated above the street level to maintain the feel of the open street.
The occupiable spaces were arranged around a central core so that best possible use of natural light and ventilation was possible.
The facade was so designed as to be user controlled for the protection of the elements.

Girls Hostel, IIT Delhi, India
Date of completion - 2007The 1,00,000 sft. building was designed as a hostel for the female students in the campus. The schematic design was already done and approved when I entered the project.Role was to convert them into construction drawings and work out details. Coordination between the various consultants and the contractor was also my big responsibility as a project architect. It was a challenge to get the structural consultant cater to the design needs of the project. The location of the expansion joint, the column with different cross sections at different heights and the fi re escape staircases were decided by me.

This was my fi rst major project in which my role was to detail out tough wall sections and geometries. I was instrumental in getting the drawings completed by a couple of team members. My role also involved a few visits to the site and checking on the work. The schematic design was communicated by the principal and we as a team worked out the possibilities before moving on to the construction drawings.
It was a challenge to work out the complex elevations and the wall sections that were designed.

Date of completion - 2008
The 12000 sq.m accessible building was designed so that its form would match with the neighbouring aero-space department building (conceptualised to appear like an aircraft). Role was to conceptualise, arrive at a fi nal design and coordinate with consultants and the client for the smooth execution of the project.

Resort at Muttukadu, India
A competition project
The Site was along the sea side. This was taken advantage of in terms of location of cottages. Wide windows and openings were planned for. Separate buildings for administrative offi ces, Ayurvedic health centre and the cottages. Overall form to depict traditional coastal huts but a modern aspect added in terms material usage and forms.
My role was to work with a team preparing the presentation boards. I also worked on the site layout and the design of the cottages with the help of the principal.

Multi-family Dwelling, Bangalore
Date of completion - 2010
This was my fi rst independent project.
The site was a small 300 x 330 plot approximately. Challenge was in designing 2 decent sized living units.
It was designed so that the two fl oors could either be used by a single family or by two different families. The lower level was designed as a single bedroom unit and the upper level a single bedroom and study with two baths.
Good lighting and ventilation was ensured by windows in every space. One parking space was provided.
