Most Loving God, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and Our Lady Help of Christians Parish are composed of people like me. I help make my
parish what it is. It will be friendly, if I am. Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do great work, if I work. It will make generous
gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring other people to love and serve You, if I invite and bring them. It will be a parish
of loyalty and love, of fearlessness and faith, and a parish with a noble spirit, if I, who know that I belong, am filled with these same gifts.
Therefore, with Your help, Gracious God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all of the things that I want my parish to be. Amen.

Dear Congregations of Our Lady Help of Christians
and Sacred Heart of Jesus Parishes,
Thank you so much for your BIG hearts to serve
others. Many families were blessed by your generous
gifts of undergarments and outer wear for the cold
weather for their children. Your compassion in action
shines God’s love on others. God Bless you for your
kindness and for making a difference. Merry
Christmas!

From the Parish Council: We would like to formulate our Parish Mission Statement. According to the Diocese of Harrisburg “Norms and
Guidelines for Parish Pastoral Councils”, the Parish Mission Statement ‘articulates the dreams and hopes of the
parishioners, establishes the boundaries within which the parish can successfully carry out realistic and achievable
goals. It should be easy to read and understand…’
It goes on to direct how to create The Parish Mission Statement:
1. Who are we as a parish community? (e.g. called by God; led by the Spirit)
2. What functions do we have? (e.g. form community, minister to people’s needs; respond to
changing situations; discern new directions; foster Gospel Values; grow in faith)
3. How do we accomplish these functions? (e.g. supporting one another; challenging people to grow; prayerful
discernment; outreach to others; adult education)
4. For whom? (e.g. our parish community; those in need; ever-changing world; one another; all parishioners; the
diocese; all who live within our parish boundaries).
Examples of Parish Mission Statements of various parishes may be found on their websites and/or bulletins. We ask for
inputs from all our parishioners. You may place your suggestion in the collection basket or email to
[email protected]. We would appreciate it if any suggestions could be sent in before
the next Parish Council meeting scheduled for January 14, 2019.
