Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo, que vive y reina contigo en la unidad del Espíritu Santo

FAMILY LIFE Christmas celebrates the Incarnation, the “en-flesh-ment” of God as a human person. In Jesus, God is bodily present in the human story. Today we honor the Holy Family, helping us to see that God is active in daily family life. God is near at hand, amidst the tensions, joys, and uncertainties of family life. As our Gospel passage describes, even with family mis-communications and with limited understanding of Jesus’ mission, the Holy Family persevered in their life together. Like many family conflicts, there was no immediate or clear reso-lution of the issues raised by Jesus and by Mary. God’s inten-tions for the family, and for Jesus, were still un-folding. They continued to stay connected with each other and with God. Within the turbulence of family life, they trusted God to actively sustain and guide them into an uncertain future. CỘNG ĐOÀN THÁNH GIUSE 26 Tháng Mười Hai - Ông Già Noel

Tháng 9 năm 1897, một bé gái 8 tuổi tên là Virginia đã viết cho tờ báo Công Giáo Hoa Kỳ để hỏi về ông già Noel. Câu hỏi của cô bé là: Ông già Noel có thật không? Vài ngày sau, trên một quan điểm của tờ báo, người ta đọc được câu trả lời của ông chủ nhiệm kiêm chủ bút như sau:"Virginia yêu dấu của bác. Ðiều trước tiên bác muốn nói với cháu là: các bạn của cháu thật là sai lầm khi bảo rằng không có ông già Noel. Các bạn của cháu bị tiêm nhiễm bởi trào lưu hoài nghi. Họ nghĩ rằng chỉ có thể tin được những gì họ thấy tận mắt. Họ nghĩ rằng không gì có thể có được nếu trí khôn nhỏ bé của họ không hiểu được. Virginia yêu dấu, tất cả mọi trí khôn của loài người, dù là của trẻ em, dù là của người lớn, tất cả đều nhỏ bé. Trong cái vũ trụ bao la này, con người chỉ là một con kiến nhỏ bé. Virginia ạ, ông già Noel có thực. Ông có thực cũng như tình yêu và lòng quảng đại nhờ đó cuộc sống của cháu trở thành vui tươi và xinh đẹp. Bé ơi, nếu không có ông già Noel thì thế giới của chúng ta sẽ như thế nào? Không có những tâm hồn ngây thơ trong trắng của những trẻ thơ như cháu thì thế giới của chúng ta sẽ như thế nào? Không có một niềm tin của trẻ thơ như cháu thì không có một áng văn, một dòng thơ nào có thể làm cho cuộc sống của chúng ta đáng sống nữa. Không có một niềm tin của trẻ thơ thì ánh sáng vĩnh cửu đang lấp đầy thế giới cũng sẽ tắt dần. Virginia, nếu cháu không còn tin ở ông già Noel nữa, thì cháu cũng chẳng còn tin ở chuyện thần tiên nữa. Có thể cháu sẽ yêu cầu bố cho người ngồi canh ở lò sưởi, ở cuối giường để bắt cho được ông già Noel... Nhưng dù cháu không bắt được ông già Noel đi nữa, điều đó ý nghĩa gì? Chưa có ai thấy ông già Noel, nhưng cũng không ai chứng minh được là không có ông già Noel. Những điều có thực nhất trong thế giới của chúng ta đó là những điều mà trẻ con và ngay cả người lớn cũng chưa từng thấy. Cháu đã bao giờ thấy các nàng tiên nhảy múa trên thảm cỏ chưa? Dĩ nhiên là chưa. Nhưng có ai chứng thực được các nàng tiên không có không? Không ai có thể có khái niệm hay tưởng tượng được bao điều kỳ diệu chưa thấy hoặc không thể thấy được trong thế giới của chúng ta. Chỉ có Ðức Tin, chỉ có tình yêu mới có thể vén mở được bức màn bí mật của thế giới chúng ta. Nhờ ơn Chúa, ông già Noel vẫn sống và tiếp tục sống, cháu Virginia ạ. Ông già Noel sẽ tiếp tục làm cho tâm hồn trẻ thơ được tràn đầy hoan lạc". Lá thư gửi cho cô bé Virginia trên đây đưa chúng ta vào trung tâm điểm của ngày Giáng Sinh: Giáng Sinh là lễ của nhi đồng, bởi vì nhân vật chính của ngày lễ là một Em Bé. Một Em Bé cũng như muôn nghìn em bé sinh ra trên cõi đời này. Em Bé đó chính là niềm vui và hy vọng cho tất cả mọi người. Cùng với Em Bé đó, tất cả các em bé đều mang lại niềm vui cho mọi người trong mùa Giáng Sinh. Bầu khí Giáng Sinh là bầu khí của nhi đồng. Từ hoa đèn, âm nhạc cho đến quà cáp, tất cả đều hướng về các em nhi đồng... Người cho đã vui mà người nhận còn vui hơn: chính các em bé là những người đã dạy cho người lớn biết vui với niềm vui ban phát. Bao lâu con người còn có thể mở cửa tâm hồn, bao lâu con người còn có thể mở rộng bàn tay để ban phát, để chia sẻ thì bấy lâu ông già Noel của hy vọng, của quảng đại, của hân hoan vẫn còn sống mãi trong tâm trí của trẻ em và không biết bao nhiêu người sầu khổ. Giáng Sinh là ngày của nhi đồng do đó cũng là lễ của hòa bình. Một em bé sinh ra là một hy vọng mới chớm nở. Hy vọng là tên mới của hòa bình. Còn hy vọng là còn muốn xây dựng. Xây dựng trên mầm sống đã đành mà còn xây dựng trên những đổ vỡ, mất mát. Qua Hài Nhi Giêsu, tất cả các em bé trên thế giới đang nhắn gửi đến từng người trong chúng ta niềm hy vọng vào thiện chí của con người. Hòa bình là hoa quả của hy vọng. Còn tin nơi con người, chúng ta còn có thể xây dựng hòa bình. Trích sách Lẽ Sống

"“Ai kính sợ Chúa, thì thảo kính cha mẹ" ‘ Hc 3, 3-7. 14-17a Thiên Chúa suy tôn người cha trong con cái; quyền lợi bà mẹ, Người củng cố trên đoàn con. Ai yêu mến cha mình, thì đền bù tội lỗi; ai thảo kính mẹ mình, thì như người thu được một kho tàng. Ai thảo kính cha mình, sẽ được vui mừng

trong con cái, khi cầu xin, người ấy sẽ được nhậm lời. Ai thảo kính cha mình, sẽ được sống lâu dài. Ai vâng lời cha, sẽ làm vui lòng mẹ. Hỡi kẻ làm con, hãy gánh lấy tuổi già cha ngươi, chớ làm phiền lòng người khi người còn sống.

Nếu tinh thần người sa sút, thì hãy rộng lượng, ngươi là kẻ trai tráng, chớ đành khinh dể người. Vì của dâng cho cha, sẽ không rơi vào quên lãng. Của biếu cho mẹ, sẽ đền bù tội lỗi, và xây dựng đức công chính của ngươi.
