Story on Vets celebration inside!
Holiday Happiness!
It is the holiday season! It’s a good time
to reflect – to think about family with
fond memories we may have of those
no longer with us, and cherishing the
new memories we can make with those
still with us Sometimes as we get older,
it may not seem there is as much shine on
the holidays as there used to be. I’m here to tell you
- your happiness is only limited by your own
imagination. This holiday season, try to celebrate the
special joys of the world, and also take a moment to
celebrate the special joys of you. I have experienced
the secret of the holidays - it is not only in the love
and joy of the season but about the love and joy we
can choose to share with one another.
You can get your fill of the holidays here at Sunset
Park Place. Our December calendar is packed with
several activities – some familiar and some that are
new. So take a look and see how you can spread joy
to yourself and others!

Commercial Shoot at Sunset Park Place
If you would have stopped by Sunset a few
weeks ago, you would have thought we were
having our
Christmas
party early.
We were
the site of a
commercial
being shot
for
Paramount
Ambulance – depicting a Christmas party.
Residents and staff got a chance to ‘star’ in
the commercial.
We’ll be hosting
a screening of the
commercial as
soon as it’s
finished – stay
tuned! The
commercial will
air on local cable
channels.
Hop On The Bus For Reflections!
If you Holiday Lights you’ll want to sign up
for this event – our bus trip to Reflections In
the Park, at Murphy Park in Dubuque. We’ll
be taking the Sunset Park Place Bus, on
December 8 at 5:30 pm. Let’s hope for good
weather!
Another Holiday event we’ll be taking in
will be the Festival of Trees at Roshek Bldg.
We’ll stop by there on December 4th
11:15 am. Sign-up in the mail room!

At the Piano Again! By Shelly Gessner
Life Enrichment
Coordinator
Glady C is a new
resident at Sunset
Park Place. After our
comercial shoot with
Paramouont
Ambulance, I played
some music for
residents on the Clavinova in our front entry
way. Glady said she enjoyed listening to the
music I played that afternoon She said she
missed playing the piano. I encouraged her to
give it a try! She played the “Follow Lights”
program on the Clavinova, playing ‘Amazing
Grace’ and ‘Beautiful Dreamer’. After she
was finished she looked up at me with tears in
her eyes and said she hadn’t played in over 30
years – she was so happy!! When I walked
her to her apartment she said she had a very
enjoyable afternoon and was so happy to be
here. “I just want you all to know how much
I appreciate the smiles and how everybody
helps me here.”

Holiday Conversations – What To Say?
It’s that time of year when relatives and
friends will visit or get together and what do
you talk about? Well Sunset will be bringing
you a program on Thursday, December 3 at
1:30 pm in the activity room to help out on
conversation topics that can
keep the talk exciting and
informative. The speaker will
be Diane Fasillius from
Hospice of Dubuque.
