BEAUTIFICATION REPORT – Kathy Mitchell

Yes we reached our goal and then some. My total results from calling

members of our community were $6,515 with a few promises that are

sure to come in.

Information from the Parking Lot sale was a total of $5,905.00 and

$2.99 from the Chat-n-Chew.

This was an outstanding effort by many people, which proves once

more that when we work together everything good happens.

Christmas is coming.... AND SO IS MIKE CHAMBERLAIN!!!!

THAT'S RIGHT.....Just what we've all been waiting for!!!!! He will be

our entertainment for our December Potluck!! We would like you all

to wear your UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATERS!!! We will be judging,

and the person who has the UGLIEST CHRISTMAS SWEATER will

win a prize!!! You do not have to purchase a sweater; you can create

your own!!!!

REMEMBER to bring a dish that will serve 8-10 people, and don't

forget your place setting! Can't wait to see everybody in their UGLY

CHRISTMAS SWEATERS!!!

Well the PLV camping group is on their way back to Phoenix after

spending a couple days at the Double Adobe Campgrounds near

Bisbee, AZ. What FUN we all had, plus a few glitches in the way.

Wouldn't be camping without a few of those. What a great opportunity

to get to know one another by eating and fellow shipping together. If

you are interested in joining our group, please call:

Tommy Nuara 602-992-5116 or Deborah Parnham 602-291-5633.

Don’t miss out on our annual New Year’s Eve Party! This year it will be held

on Thursday, December 31st starting at 8:00 pm and going strong until

mid-night. Entertainment will be as always our very own DJ, Steve Smith!

Dress as casual or as fancy as you would like. Don’t forget it is BYOB or

whatever other beverage you enjoy, ice and coffee will be provided. Bring

snacks/finger food to share with your table and anyone that stops by to visit you

at your table, because let’s face it they are there to check out your snacks and

help themselves to your food. It is always a fun party and dance and if you don’t

dance it is always a great time watching those that still do. If you are new to

Palm Lakes Village, we would love for you to come and get acquainted. What

better way to get to know your neighbors than a New Year’s Eve kiss? Tickets

go on sale this week for $12 each, see or call any of the Entertainment

Committee Members.

BLOCK WATCH

Scammers Corner - Alex Michaud

VERY IMPORTANT!!!!

We feel this worth passing along. With the holidays coming up, this could be a

real problem.

The newest virus circulating is the UPS/Fed Ex/USPS Delivery Failure.

You will receive an e-mail from UPS, Fed Ex, or USPS along with a packet

number. It will say that they were unable to deliver a package sent to you on

such-and-such a date. It then asks you to print out the invoice copy attached.

DON'T TRY TO PRINT THIS. IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS!

Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home. This virus

has caused millions of dollars in damage in the past few days.

Snopes confirms that it is real.

Un-welcome Visitor – Brad Couch

Once again that black late model GMC Yukon has been seen cruising our

community taking pictures of resident’s homes. It is not known why he is

doing this. What is known is that he is rude and not a resident of PLV.

The vehicle license number is JJV. If you see this vehicle, please call the police

and then call rad Couch at 602-829-8826. If he has legitimate business in PLV

he should be willing to tell us what that business is, otherwise he is an un-welcome visitor.

PLV WOMEN’S CLUB – Pat Jasmann, Out-going President

Welcome to all PLV women residents. We meet at 5:30 pm in the

clubhouse for fellowship, followed by a business meeting at 6:00 pm.

Activities may be planned by the hostess for each meeting, January thru April

and October and November. We look forward to seeing you. Do you want

to be a part of a fun group of mostly PLV residents? Club

Resident’s Forum December 10, 2015 - Sonja Swanson

Welcome, Pledge, Rules of Order – Alex Michaud, M.C. Attendance: 35

The full notes are available on the Clubhouse Bulletin Board and on the PLV Website.

Topics discussed:

Area on Aging Home Delivered Meals – For those that are homebound and do not drive, this program offers hot meals 5 days

a week. Their phone number is 602-264-4357. If you know of a neighbor who is homebound and could use help with meals,

please get an information sheet from Mary Shuman and talk to them. For additional questions, please call Mary at 602-510-

8898. This is a Maricopa County program.

Building Hope Arizona, Inc. – This group brings skilled building repair at no or low cost to those who need it but can’t afford

it. Their services include water heaters, toilet repair, and leaky faucets, drain pipes, electrical, drywall, roofing, siding, door

repair, construction of ramps, grab bars and handrails for disabled. They do not do masonry or AC/Heating. These services are

recommended by Desert View Bible Church. This group has helped Mary Shuman, a resident in PLV, and she will be glad to

talk to anyone about their work. Call her at 602-510-8898. All information discussed with Mary will be kept confidential.

December Pot Luck – Debby Parnham announced that the PLV Christmas Pot Luck is on Saturday, December 19, 2015. Entertainment will be by Mike Chamberlain. There will also be an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest. Wear your Christmas sweater and perhaps you will win the prize. RV Travel Club – This new group in PLV will be leaving on their first trip (this time to Bisbee, AZ) tomorrow. Watch the Newsletter for announcements about upcoming meetings and trips. If you don’t own an RV, consider renting one. Contact Tom Nuvara at 602-992-5116 for more information. Beautification Committee – Deborah Parnham praised the many volunteers who made the Parking Lot Sale a great success. There was a tremendous donation of time, effort, merchandise and financial donations. Those that spent time in advance to tag each item spent 5 weeks and 72 hours each on the project. The results are almost $13,000.00 now available to spend on beautifying our front gate and other projects in our Park. Ninety four (94) people donated cash. That is 26% of PLV. A great big thanks to all who helped and came out to buy. Christian Fellowship Cookie Share & Christmas Program - Howard Miner reminded us that Sunday evening everyone is invited to meet at the Clubhouse at 5:00 pm to drop off cookies and arrange carpools to the Christmas Program at 6:00pm at Cross in the Desert, 32nd St. and Sweetwater. After the program, we will return to the Clubhouse to enjoy Hot Chocolate, Coffee, and COOKIES. We will also arrange cookie plates to share with those who are shut-ins in Palm Lakes Village. If you would like to share cookies, please bring them to the clubhouse Sunday. If you know of anyone who is homebound or just “under the weather” and needs a little cheer this season, please call Howard at 602-493-0431. The Christian Fellowship will deliver the cookies. Thank You to Men’s Club Waiters at the Women’s Club Christmas Party – A great big Thank You was offered for the GREAT job the men did Tuesday in hosting the Annual Christmas Party for the PLV Ladies. Waiters in Black Tie escorted us to our seats. Graciousness and class was exhibited in every move. Service was above all expectations. The meal was fabulous and we were made to feel extremely special. With no further discussion, the meeting adjourned at 7:16 pm with a final shout from all:

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!

CHRISTMAS DINNER NEEDS YOU!!! – Teri Strayer

As previously reported I will be out of town for the holidays. We need someone to

step up and do the Christmas dinner. We delivered 9 dinners to shut-ins on

Thanksgiving and served about 35 in the Clubhouse. We usually have about 60

folks "dining in". Those of you lucky enough to have family close, perhaps your

family could step up and make this a happier holiday for the people who will

otherwise spend this day alone. Please help out on this special day when no one

should have to spend the day alone with a TV dinner. Thanks.

Teri Strayer, [email protected]

TRUST HIM, HE’S GOT YOU

by SUSIE LARSON

May you rise up today with the full assurance

that God has your back.

He is with you, for you, and actively working on your behalf.

He does for you what you cannot do for yourself.

May you do for Him the one thing you can do:

Trust Him with your whole heart

And embrace joy along the way.

Grace and peace to you this day!

Q: Robert Taylor and Stewart Granger starred in what western?

Answer: The Last Hunt

Military Humor What ‘Master Key’ Means in the Military During orientation at Fort Sill, in Oklahoma, our first sergeant stated that if anyone lost his locker key to see him, as he kept a master key in his office. Sure enough, a few weeks later, I lost my key. I walked into the orderly’s room and asked Sarge if I could borrow his master key.

“Why, certainly, young man,” he said, as he reached under his desk and handed me a large pair of bolt cutters.
