PreACT 8/9 testing
for all 9th grade
students
Calling all Freshmen!
…is coming in October!
• We will soon be administering the PreACT 8/9 to ALL 9th
grade students.
• The purpose of the test is to simulate the ACT so that students, teachers, and parents can gain earlier insight to students’ strengths and weaknesses.
• PreACT 8/9 provides early indication of progress to help guide action plans and opportunities for early interventions.
• PreACT 8/9 reports include information about career possibilities, based on student answers to the interest inventory, which students can use to start thinking about their futures. PreACT 8/9 reports also provide career suggestions based on students’ interests and strengths and provides an indicator of progress toward the ACT National Career Readiness standards.
• Testing will take place remotely on Friday, Oct. 29th. ALL freshmen are required to participate, so please block off your calendar and plan to spend that morning with us.
• You and your learning coach will receive the PreACT test packet prior to test day. On test day, we’ll ask you to open it for the first time and follow along with the group on testing remotely.
• More questions? You may also reach out your homeroom teacher or to Mrs. Lyke, school counselor, at [email protected]

WhyStudents Against Destructive Decisions' mission is to “empower young people to successfully confront the risks and pressures that challenge them throughout their daily lives.”. This mission is accomplished by “creating, equipping, and sustaining a network of student-run chapters in schools and communities focused on peer-to-peer education. SADD fosters a sense of belonging and promotes resiliency, leadership, and advocacy skills so that young people make positive life decisions that will carry them throughout life.”. They inform about safe driving, substance abuse, mental illness, suicide, and physical and emotional abuse.

For our next meeting we will be discussing
the importance of mental health and the
challenges that go along with it. Join us on October 12th at
3:00 PM for information and
discussion
CONTRACT FOR LIFESADD's Contract for Life is designed to facilitate communication between young people and their parents about potentially destructive decisions related to alcohol, drugs, peer pressure, and behavior. The issues facing young people today are often too difficult to address alone. SADD believes that effective parent/child communication is critically
important in helping young adults to make healthy decisions.
We will be holding a campaign here at LVHS to encourage the students to sign this “contract”. For the next couple weeks, if you send us proof that you filled it out, we will
send you a LVHS SADD button.
