Message from the Principal

Dear Parents, Staff & StudentsAsslaamualaikum,

ovember is here and what a wonderful beginning to our winter season, no snow! NSeptember. Our students are back into a routine and are working hard to achieve their best. Our focus at Iqra is to have a Growth Mindset, when we are faced with challenges

we will not give up. Mistakes are opportunities to learn and try, try, try again. We are very happy to provide many extra-curricular activities for our students and encourage our students to become involved iqranian citizens. Please note that only those students who are part of the team or club are able to remain after school for these events. We cannot allow for siblings to remain who are not on the team/club. Likewise while we are happy to have fans enjoy a game, any students watching after school games must be present with their parents supervising. We do not have staff supervision for these events and our coaches are busy with the team and are unable to supervise fans as well. Thank you for your co-operation and support in ensuring the safety of all the students.

In order to assist your child with this transition of weather, please be sure to establish routines and healthy habits as soon as possible. Early bed times, no screen time after 8:00pm, healthy breakfasts, and good hydration will go a long ways towards helping your child start the day in a healthy way. With our Balanced day schedule, the many positive benefits to our students' learning experiences are clearly evident. Increased time spent in the instructional day on focused learning with fewer transitions and interruptions provides better opportunity for improved student achievement. Within our day we have two nutrition breaks, one mid-morning and the second early afternoon. Please plan for these two breaks when packing lunch bags and review with your child the options for food choices at each break. We want to be sure that the children have food to satisfy their hunger at both nutrition breaks. As we move into November, we look forward to another great month ahead. As always, feel free to contact us at the school with any questions, comments or good news to share. We value your inputs and always appreciate hearing from you.

Hadith of the Month

Narrated ̀ Abdullah bin Ka`b bin Malik from Ka`b bin Malik:

`Abdullah bin Abu Hadrad Al-Aslami owed Ka`b bin Malik some money. One day the latter met the former and demanded his right, and their voices grew very loud. The Prophet (ملسو هيلع هللا ىلص) passed by them and said, "O Ka`b," beckoning with his hand as if intending to say, "Deduct half the debts." So, Ka`b took half what the other owed him and remitted the other half.

The esteemed Olympiad exams have already begun! The second exam is NSO (Science) and is scheduled on the 24th of November. Parents are requested to help their child prepare well for the examination by taking assistance from the books issued to them. “Grand Blessing from “Granny's Day Out”

Grandparents are such an important part of every child's life, they have patience and time, when parents are often busy, they have interesting

games and a never ending collection of short stories. Nobody in the world can do better what the grandparents can do for the little ones.

In order to further foster the bond between young children and their grandparents, Iqra international school allowed students to invite their grandmothers to

thschool on 14 of Oct 2016, the event saw a good number of grandmothers accompany their wards to school, they visited classrooms converted into centres of entertainment and participated in events such as story time, hand in hand, garland making and a few other indoor games.

The grandmothers were then taken around the school premises and were given a sneak peek into the various activities and events at school. The event was a grand success, not only did it provide the grandmothers a chance to observe their ward at school, it also taught young children the importance of grandparents .One overjoyed grandmother exclaimed that she felt proud that her grandchild studies at Iqra juniors.

The management and staff shall strive to conduct many more such events in the coming months and years, In Shaa Allah!

it's starting to get chilly!

Our students need to dress for the weather that is rapidly turning chilly. They must go outside for fresh air breaks usually twice a day or more and need to ensure to bring appropriate outdoor clothing! Please dress your child in layers so they are prepared for changing temperatures. Our students need to be able to put on, zip up, tie up or snap things up, so practice at home is helpful! Make sure they never forget their socks.

Exploring the Universe - A trip to “Planetarium”

thhe Junior Iqranians were on a field trip to the planetarium on the 17 of October 2016 and was Tindeed a flight through the universe. Before the students proceeded to the sky theatre, there was an informative session. The students stayed glued through a description of our solar system,

trying to understand and identify the different planets and even learning to recognize constellations. It was fun knowing of one's weight on the moon and other planets. There were a few other exhibits at the Planetarium which enlightened the learners.

As the lights dimmed and the journey through the stars began, the excitement among the students was overwhelming. The skies came alive on their massive dome theatre. The show was extremely good and provided a good visual experience as well as factual knowledge of astronomy. No doubt, in this modern age with a good exposure to technology, one doesn't really find it difficult to learn topics related to astronomy, but the experience was amazing. Examining every nook and corner of the planetarium with their inquisitive eyes and curious souls they went on with “Ooh SubhanAllah” and “Aah SubhanAllah” throughout the visit. “The Tiger of Mysore “ – An Excursion to Tippu Sultan's Palace

istory & Culture are best understood when they listen to stories and experience the same. A small Hbut a very motivating excursion was initiated by us to educate the children of our school on the history of Kings, which reminded us about the Legend of mysore “Tippu Sultan” famously

known as the tiger of mysore, a legendary ruler and a great king ,though he ruled in Mysore but there was a small summer palace built in bengaluru, entirely of teak wood and stands adorned with pillars, arches and balconies. It is believed that Tippu Sultan used to conduct his durbar (court)in the palace. The site also holds a painting of grand throne visualized by Tippu Sultan himself which the students were so inspired to see him as a king in the painting. Coated with gold sheets and stuck with precious emerald stones, It was pleasurable to take our students to the palace.

Costume Day - A Young imagination world.

ostume Day's outfit was the best that anyone has ever witness. King, Pilots, Princess, super heroes Cyou name it we had it. In their journey of wisdom, the Iqranian leaders of Grade – 1 dwelled deeper into the world of “Imagination ”.Along with discovering the world of art and craft ,shapes and

colors ,Dress and clothing etc, the Iqranians immersed into various characters.

The juvenile Iqranian learners came fully clad in vibrant costumes such as King, Pilot, Queen, Prince, Princess, Spider man, Batman etc. Undeniably, it was overwhelming to see young children in gaudy and artistic costumes by captivating the centre stage with their motivated speeches of the characters there were dressed up on. The children actively showcased their hidden talent by dressing up in the favorite super heroes costumes .The activity was such a fun and joy that the children and the teachers enjoyed it to the fullest.

Investiture Ceremony – Adorable Prominent Leaders.

eaders are not born but are made by their experiences in life”. Students of today are the visionaries and torch Lbearers of tomorrow; school is trying to develop the responsible human beings with leadership qualities. To inculcate the same leadership qualities in students and to give them a feel of functioning of the administrative body,

rda school cabinet was formed and the investiture ceremony was held on the 3 of October 2016 in the school premises.

This was the most awaited event for the students. Their responsibilities were towards the maintenance of utmost discipline in the school and to assist teachers in their pursuit of excellence. Our dedicated Vice Principal Razya Sultana, the source of inspiration Ashha Khairi Ahmed and a great mentor Dr Arshya Anjum, all the faculty members and students witnessed this ceremony. Thereafter the vice principal pinned the badges to all the captains & vice-captains of all the four houses and clubs.

The event ended on a note of positivity and willingness, with the captains promising to do their best in whichever way they can. They were ready to encounter the challenges that would come on their way & would work upon their weaknesses as well. In this way, the investiture ceremony concluded with lot of hopes & aspirations for our future leaders & it was a great success with the participation of all our students & teachers, without whom it would not have been so impactful.
