We will keep the format of the competition and the division from last year of all players in 3 handicap categories. This will keep the tournament even more challenging for all participants.

Oitavos � � � � � The luxurious 5-star Oitavos combines ultramodern design with an untouched natural location within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park. It features pools, state-of-the art sports facilities, an Equestrian Centre, Helipad and The Oitavos Dunes, which is an award-winning golf course.

All of the elegant lofts and suites are decorated with modern furnishings in white and blue colours. They all feature comfortable extra long beds, 2 flat-screen satellite TVs and a Nespresso coffee machine. The mod-ern bathroom is complemented by a separate dresser. Some have a separate living area, while others have it included in an open plan space that stretches towards the scenic views of the private balcony, that each unit enjoys.

Guests can enjoy a selection of contemporary cuisine at the hotel’s in house Ipsylon Lounge restaurant while gazing pool and garden views. Just a short 3-minute walk from the main building is the hotel’s other res-taurant, Verbasco. With a more relaxed atmosphere, this dining venue specializes in Portuguese dishes and tapas. It is also possible to taste sushi, as well as special menus. A Chef ’s Table experience is also available, upon previous request and availability. The bar of The Oitavos serves a wide variety of drinks well into the night.

The Oitavos’s full-service spa offers natural and organic treatment products and a holistic approach to well-ness. There are 10 massage rooms, while the hot tub and dry and wet saunas further allow guests to have a relaxing body experience. There is a 24-hour fitness centre and regular activities, like yoga and pilates class-es. The sports facilities include a Tennis court, Padel, Squash, Group fitness classes, fitness academy and a semi-olimpic indoor pool. The heated (from may to September) outdoor salt-water swimming pool is ideal for guests to relax with a cocktail or refreshing beverage from the bar.

The Oitavos Hotel is located 5 km from central Cascais and a 30-minute drive from Sintra, which is famed for its stunning monuments and palaces. Lisbon is a 30-minute drive away as well, featuring iconic areas and sites like Chiado, Bairro Alto and Alfama. The popular Praia do Guincho beach is a mere 5 minutes away by car. Quinta da Marinha Golf CourseThe Quinta da Marinha Golf Course, in Cascais, has 18 holes with 5.870 meters of pure nature and big chal-lenges. This par 71, designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, offers fantastic views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Sintra Mountains.In this course you can really see the style of Robert Trent Jones in the elevated Greens & Tees, many bunkers in play and, as expected, some water hazards.Every hole is different, you will have to use all the clubs in the bag and play with strategy to make a good score.

Estoril Golf CourseThe Estoril Championship Course started in 1929 and redesigned in 1936 by Mackenzie Ross.It is known as one of the oldest and most emblematic clubs in Portugal and where two of the Portuguese most important tournaments have been held frequently:• The Portuguese Open –20 years• The Portuguese International Championship Amateur – 63 years.

There is a lively and social atmosphere about the town, while it is only a short walk to glorious sandy beaches. Cascais makes for a fantastic holiday destination and is equally enjoyable as a day trip. The pretty historic centre of Cascais, filled with family owned restaurants, open-air cafes and stylish bars – ideal for relaxing during the days or socialising late into the night.

SINTRA (approx. 30 min by taxi)Sintra is a picturesque Portuguese town that is set amidst the pine-covered hills of the Serra de Sintra. This slightly cooler climate enticed the nobility and elite of Portugal, who constructed exquisite palaces, extrav-agant residences and decorative gardens. The variety of fascinating historic buildings and beautiful scenery has established Sintra as a top rate tourist destination.For such a relatively small town there is a vast amount of historic monuments and interesting tourist attrac-tions. Contained within Sintra there are more than 10 national monuments, which include ornate palaces, ancient ruins and decorative houses. These sights are spread across the hills of the region and for the active visitor there are a series of challenging hiking trails. In the historic centre there are pretty cobbled streets lined with traditional shops and cafes, all centred around the Gothic styled National Palace.

Format of the competitionThe players in the 12th President's Cup will be divided in three handicap categories and will compete against players in the same handicap group.

A division – 0 – 12 HandicapB division – 13 – 19 HandicapC division – 20 – 28 Handicap

FOURBALLThe “fourball” format is the same, except for one minor wrinkle: no alternate shots. Each player from each team plays the hole himself. Each team takes the best score and puts it up against the best score of the other team.

SINGLE MATCHESTraditional one-on-one match-play format

HANDICAPSFoursomes – The side with the higher sum of the playing handicaps of the partners receives 1/2 of the fulldifference between the aggregate handicap of each side (0.5 is rounded upwards).Fourball – The player with the lowest playing handicap, who must play off scratch, must concede handicap-strokes to the three other players based on 90 % of the difference between the playing handicaps.Singles – The difference from the players handicaps (For two golfers, the lower handicap is subtracted from the higher. The difference is allocated to the most difficult holes, one stroke per hole. For example, if Player A has a handicap of 10 and Player B has a 15 handicap, the difference is five strokes. Player B may subtract one stroke per hole for each of the five most difficult holes on the course. The player with the lowest net score wins the hole.)
