Dear Friends Summer is a season for young people to change their rhythms and explore new frontiers in fun, adventure, learning and fitness activities. At Reston Community Center, we undertook an ambitious redesign of our program offerings last summer to bring more opportunities to youth and teens by changing our Camp Goodtimes format from a school-based offering to a traveling adventure approach and offering more of the very popular Road Rulz program. We were thus able to expand our “specialty camp” programming to nearly double the number of options from
past years. This new design was a resounding success with kids and parents alike and we have built upon it to bring even more opportunities to Reston families for summer 2011. We are eager to receive your enrollment in the programs we are offering; registration goes quickly for summer sessions, so don’t delay in sending yours in to secure your child’s spot. As we continue to participate in the Reston Youth Network, a cooperative effort involving Reston-based organizations that support youth programming, we are exploring ways to expand transportation options for youth and financial support for qualifying families to allow youth participation in all our programs without financial barriers. This important several years long effort has helped each organization participating in it to plan complementary programs and expand opportunities for all our children. Enjoy savoring summer fun during these chilly winter months. We look forward to the happy noise of young people at our facilities that will arrive with the end of the school year. Warmest regards,
Leila Gordon Executive Director Reston Community Center
