I am pleased to extend my congratulations to the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Exhibitions India Group for organizing the Wellness India 2018 expo and the co- located Krishi India 2018 expo at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 20-22 August, 2018.
India is perhaps the only country in the world with a separate ministry of traditional medicine which reflects the government’s commitment towards development of AYUSH sector three fold over the next five years.
The Ministry of AYUSH is trying to achieve comprehensive integration of AYUSH in the health services. Through the Ministry of AYUSH, we are not only promoting developmental activities of traditional medicine at the national level but also looking at more international cooperation and collaboration opportunities at bilateral, multi lateral, regional and global levels. In this direction, declaration of 21st June as International Day of Yoga by the United Nations has generated global interest for yoga as well as cooperation opportunities for exchange of Yoga information, expertise and qualified, certified and accredited Yoga trainers. Similarly, through our collaboration agreement with the WHO we intend to develop AYUSH technical guidelines and documents for the benefit of member countries.
The Government is following a multi pronged strategy, including signing of MoUs and agreements with a large number of countries, collaborative research and academic activities and offering international scholarship in AYUSH among others.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to hike the minimum support price of Kharif crops shows that the BJP government is committed to empower farmers and double their income by 2022.
May we wish you every success in the forthcoming exhibition.
Shri Shripad Yasso Naik Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSHGovernment of India
Like the multifaceted culture in our county, traditional medicines have evolved over centuries blessed with a plethora of traditional medical practices. Ayurveda is one of the oldest medical systems in the world. It is a science of life that takes an integrated view of the physical, mental, spiritual and social aspects of human beings, each impinging on the
others. The treatment in the Ayurveda system is holistic and individualized having two components - preventive and curative. To resolve the problem of unpredictable nature of farming, the Government launched Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
in early 2016.This crop insurance policy has minimum premium rates on the principal sum insured for farmers. Implemented with a
budget of Rs. 17,600 crore, this scheme will provide financial support to farmers and cover for their losses.Keeping in view the signification of traditional medicines and medical practices, the ITPO and the Exhibition India Group
is organising “Wellness India-2018 Expo” and the “Krishi India 2018 Expo” from 20th to 22nd August, 2018 in New Delhi.I hope that the Expo will deliberate and discuss all the different facets of these exciting topics and come up with
recommendations that will lead to a healthy and prosperous India.I extend my best wishes to the ITPO and Exhibitions India Group for grand success of the Expos.
Shri Suresh Prabhakar PrabhuHon’ble Minister for Commerce &Industry and Civil AviationGovernment of India

I am pleased to know that India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Exhibitions India Group are jointly organising Wellness India 2018 expo and Krishi India 2018 expo in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi during 20—22nd August 2018.
During the last four years, the Government is focusing on farmers’ welfare by making farming viable. Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is implementing various schemes viz. Soil Health Card scheme, neem-coated urea, Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojna (PKVY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (PMKSY), National Agriculture Market Scheme (eNAM), Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and Kisan Credit Scheme etc. The government is aiming to reorient the agriculture sector by making it income- centric.
Nation has witnessed the Green Revolution. After the White Revolution (milk production), we came up with the Blue Revolution (fisheries), and then, the Sweet Revolution (bee keeping). It is time for an evergreen revolution by addressing the climate change issue. Our scientists have come up with
integrated farming and various models have been developed to meet the future challenges.I extend my best wishes for the grand success of the event.
Shri Uma BhartiHon’ble Minister of State for Drinking Water And SanitationGovernment of India
W ith great pleasure, I learnt that the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Exhibitions India Group are organising Wellness India 2018 Expo and Krishi India 2018 Expo at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 20-22 August 2018.
Equal access to essential health, clean water and sanitation services continue to be a priority for the Government of India. The Government has implemented several healthcare programmes in the past four years, focussing on the above areas. The SBM-G guidelines and the programme stresses upon positive behaviour change and community mobilisation to promote toilet usage and to make villages open defecation free. To ensure availability of clean drinking water to every household, our Ministry has launched the second project under the Swajal Yojna, a community owned drinking water programme for sustained drinking water supply.
Agriculture is the main source of rural employment for small and marginal farmers, and I extend my best wishes to all for choosing this critical subject for Krishi India 2018 Expo.
I t gives me immense pleasure to learn that India Trade Promotion Organization (ITPO) and Exhibitions India Group are organizing Wellness India 2018 expo, and the co-located Krishi India 2018 expo at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 20-22 August, 2018.
India’s healthcare Industry is one of the fastest growing sector with Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of around 22 per cent, due to growing awareness affordability and lifestyle related diseases. The country has become one of the leading destinations for capital investment in high end medical facilities, thus catering to a greater proportion of population. The Government of India, under the dynamic leadership of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji, has given special attention to affordable healthcare.
Agriculture is another vibrant sector which provides employment to around 58 per cent or the population being the largest employment provider in the country. The Government of India is committed to double the farmers income by the year 2022 and continuously striving towards it. Agriculture sector and ancillary sectors like food processing, warehousing etc. are also attracting huge capital investment.
I am hopeful that wellness India 2018 expo and Krishi India expo 2018 will be very successful events.I wish the organizers and participants a grand success.

DAILY news 2018
I t is my pleasure to welcome all the exhibitors, speakers, business delegates and participants to the Wellness India Expo and the co-related Krishi India 2018 Expo at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi from 20 -22 August, 2018. Organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Exhibitions India Group, the expos are a
celebration of India’s achievements and a reinforcement of its goals and strengths in the health and agri-sectors.The Indian medical tourism market is expected to more than double to reach $9 billion by 2020. The flow of foreign
patients in India is increasing and the major reason for this is alternative medical solutions such as Ayush, Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy which is available only in India. The nation’s medical tourism has not only seen an exponential growth but generated revenue and employment more than ever. With complete health care packages — right from travel, e-visa on arrival until accommodation and treatments — available at three-tenths rate as compared to any developed country, India has an added competitive advantage.
The Ministry of Tourism has recognised medical and wellness tourism as niche tourism products and offers various facilities to promote India as a preferred destination as well as facilitate the visit of medical tourists to the country. The Ministry offers financial support as marketing development assistance for publicity and for organising wellness and medical tourism promotion shows as well as workshops/events/seminars to accredited medical and wellness tourism service providers and chambers of commerce, etc. It has been decided to set up facilitation counters at the major airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru for tourists arriving on medical visa.
I wish the expos great success.

DAILY news 2018Exhibitions India Group
How did Krishi India expo and Wellness India expo come about? What is the connection between agriculture and health?Agriculture and health and wellness are two of the most essential industries in the world, and both are linked in dynamic and complex ways. Agricultural production can contribute to good health among farmers as well as consumers. Since poverty in our country is largely rural, with small-scale farmers comprising a very significant proportion of the poor, eradicating poverty is integrally linked to boosting food production and rural incomes. When a farmer’s income grows, he invests in an improved diet, better sanitation and healthcare, etc.
The expos will strive to create a future for agriculture to enhance the health of our citizens. Organic farming plays an important role to maintain and restore natural nutrients to enhance soil health and the ecosystem, while eliminating the enormous health hazards faced by farmers, their families, communities and consumers.
Therefore, it is critical for these sectors to work more closely together to develop pioneering solutions and

with
contribute to the central goal of eradicating poverty and achieving food security for all. And this is why, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Exhibitions India Group, decided to hold both expos together.
Are there any particular models that can be game changers? One model that I find interesting is the public-private partnership model which can be a game changer for the agri and healthcare sectors. PPPs can transform the sectors at multiple levels. For instance, our farmers are constantly threatened by extreme situations such as flood and droughts that spell disaster for their produce. PPPs that help the agri sector deal with adverse weather, and allow farmers to minimise risk through insurance, can turn around fortunes of the rural community.
Cooperatives, too, play an important role in enabling small producers access economies of scale in procurement and marketing. When 100 small farmers form a group, they can raise the funds for joint procurement of farm inputs like seeds and fertilisers. This makes it more affordable and increases agricultural output. Farmers’ incomes
also increase as they are able to access better markets than they would if they worked individually. Cooperatives pay for the quick transportation of farm produce, which is not easy for individual small-scale producers.
What are your expectations from the expos? We expect the expos to support sustainable agriculture, empower small farmers, promote gender equality, end rural poverty, ensure healthy lifestyles, promote traditional Indian systems of medicines and other related issues. The expos will help one find answers to persistent farming and health challenges, and equip participants with adaptable skills to change their traditional mindset.
Also, it is our belief that such events will attract much needed investments and technical know-how to the agri and healthcare sectors. We are confident that many new relationships will arise from the networking interactions amongst participants.
What are the key themes of the conference sessions? The seminar sessions provide our attendees with the widest range of topics imaginable. Themes include Bringing Wellness to You; Farming and Agriculture: An Overall Perspective; AYUSH for New India: Vision and Strategy; Yoga for Wellness; Horticultural Production Systems; Crop Varieties: Save and Grow; Marketing Innovations and Technologies in Agriculture; Organic Food; Vegan is the Future; Nutrition for a Healthy Living; etc.
The seminar sessions at Krishi India are expected to identify various crucial issues concerning agriculture and farmers’ welfare and finding practicable solutions. The main aim of these sessions will be to build a consensus around appropriate recommendations that will help in shaping and sharpening the vision of the Government on doubling farmers’ income by 2022.
Participants will include policy makers, industry leaders farmers, farmers’ associations, scientists, economists, academics, trade industry, professional associations, NGOs, and so on.
The seminar sessions in Wellness India expo, incorporating Organic India, Health India and Biotech India, will focus on traditional Indian systems of medicines for accessible and affordable healthcare. It will facilitate promotion and help boost exports of AYUSH products, and showcase latest research and developments in alternative medicine systems of India.
The sessions will also emphasise on health start ups and newbies that are shaping the future of healthcare.
How has the response been so far?We have had a good response, which can be seen within the industry leaders, and within the incredibly diverse range of 100+ exhibitors confirmed for the event. The expos have received support from the Ministry of AYUSH, the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises, PETA India and many more.
Wellness India expo made a name in its first year itself, with a record number of visitors what do you expect from the launch edition of Krishi India expo? Well, I don’t think anybody can predict what numbers we get through the doors, especially in our first year. However, the response has been outstanding. We have had a substantial number of registrations and with our incredibly strong line-up of features to boot, we are convinced that this show will stand out from the rest.
Finally, it’s about time India got an exhibition focused around small-scale farmers, and we have taken particular pride in making sure the spirit of the show is truly sustainable.

T he Honorable Prime Minister’s vision for ‘New India’ endeavoring to empower youth,
women and poor is indeed laudable. The ‘New India’ also needs to be a ‘Healthy India’ where its own traditional systems can play a significant role. Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa, Homoeopathy collectively covered under the Ministry of AYUSH, represent a pluralistic and integrative scheme of health services. AYUSH can play an important role in realizing the dream of ‘New India’ by providing quality healthcare and medical care for its citizens. At present we are witnessing a highly receptive environment where the value of AYUSH systems in healthcare is widely recognized. Many reforms in administration, research strategies, nature of practice and education are already underway at the Ministry of AYUSH.
The Ministry of AYUSH was formed on 9th November 2014 to ensure the optimal development and propagation of AYUSH systems of health care. Earlier it was known as
system of medicine. Early this year, the government
in its Union Budget increased the outlay to the Ministry of Ayush by over 13 per cent to Rs. 1,626.37 crore. This will enable modernising the research, strengthen regulatory provisions and increase the number of Ayush health facilities in the country among others.
Further, The Union Ministry of Ayush has mandated that all its state regulatory departments should be equipped with adequate number of technical officers including drug inspectors and drug controllers commensurate with the number of manufacturing plants in the state. The appointment of one drug inspector (DI) per 30 manufacturing unit and other drugs control officers could be considered on the basis of the regulatory workload and area of jurisdiction.
The move is to improve effective enforcement as per the legal provisions for the Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy drugs with qualified inspectorate personnel.
The state licensing authority, drug inspectors and the government analyst for Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy medicines should be appointed and notified in accordance with the ASU qualifications prescribed in the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules 1945. The non-technical officers can be appointed as licensing authority for ASU&H drugs under the state and union territories administration.

‘T he Energy & Resources Institute’ also known as ‘TERI’ has its head office
situated at ‘India Habitat Center’. The Organization was started by Mr. Darbari Seth, the builder of ‘Tata Chemicals Limited’ with a vision of ‘Creating Innovative Solutions for a Sustainable future’.
TERI is an independent, multi-dimensional organization, with capabilities in research, policy, consultancy and implementation. They are innovators and agents of change in the energy, environment, climate change and sustainability space, having pioneered conversations and action in these areas for over four decades.
Through advanced research, education, societal engagement, small farmer entrepreneurship, and transfer of finished products and technologies to industries and stakeholders for wider reach, the Sustainable Agriculture Division of TERI has a vision to identify and develop new ways to farm profitably while conserving natural resources.
The Division’s initiatives include achieving sustainability in agricultural practices; mitigate environment-related problems, such as toxic chemicals and wastes; innovate solutions for cleaner and greener energy; safe natural products to ensure human health; and policy research and cross-cutting research that bridges all areas (water, energy, soil, and alternative farming systems).
To counter above stated problems and provide livelihood through small farmer entrepreneurship program, TERI has established The TERI-Deakin Nano Biotechnology Centre (TDNBC) at Gual Pahadi (Haryana) and TERI’s Research Initiative at Supi for Himalayan Advancement (TRISHA) at SUPI (Nainital) centre respectively.
At TDNBC, mass production of bio fertiliser ‘Mycorrhiza’ is carried out and at TRISHA which was established with the kind support of the Government of Uttarakhand in 2003 in Supi village near Mukteshwar in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, TERI’s Livelihood Initiative programme is being carried out.
MycorrhizaIt can reduce the country’s dependence on chemical soil nutrients and help increase crop productivity.
Mycorrhiza is being effectively used in agriculture, forestry and horticulture globally. Mycorrhiza helps the roots to tap soil nutrients, which are otherwise beyond their reach. Mycorrhiza is the only known fungal system categorized
as a biofertiliser. Its application is limited in India because of constraints related to mass production. TERI has solved the problem by developing mass inoculum production technology for mycorrhizal fungi.
TERI technology offers mass production of viable, healthy, genetically pure and high quality fungal propagules without any pathogenic contamination. The production technology developed by TERI, claimed to be the first in the world, is based on in-vitro root organ culture

capacity building, education, sharing local knowledge, improving economies, and incorporating best practices for sustainable development of the area and the marginal farmers of Uttarakhand.
The farmers, being marginal, are too dependent on rainfall to make their ends meet. Also, their crop basket has a limited range. With a sense of social responsibility for improving the economic conditions, it was decided to add diversity to their crops so that they can get better returns from their meagre land and water resources. Taking support from various government and international agencies we started helping the farmers, especially women, to grow culinary herbs, spices, aromatic plants. In addition, promotion of certain traditional crops forgotten by the local population due to low yields and revenue was also undertaken by creating awareness about their nutritional attributes and developing value added products from them. Fruit processing was also planned to increase returns from the fruit orchards of these farmers. This entire exercise was supported by utilising organic compost to enhance crop productivity as well as soil health. Water management and storage solutions were also provided to the farmers to increase their water use efficiency. In all these aspects, capacities and skills of farmers were enhanced by organizing training programmes and interactions involving experts. All these efforts gradually started bearing fruit and the farmers began to reap benefits such as:• Increasedincomesdistributed
