I have thoroughly enjoyed the role of Principal and I acknowledge I have grown and developed personally and honed my skills which will I will benefit from in the coming years. 2020 has been a very unusual year for everyone and Ingham State School has been no exception. This term, The Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) Team, have planned an end of term celebration to reward the students for their consistent and ongoing good behaviour choices throughout the term.

On Thursday 17th September, Ingham State School will be hosting their very own Show!

We have contacted Brophy’s Party Entertainment Service to support us in this endeavour. They have a strict COVID Safe Plan that ensures we continue to uphold our department protocols as health and safety of our staff, students and school community remains paramount. Details on rides and entertainment are still being finalised, but please keep an eye on the newsletter and Facebook for further information there.

Because this is an event with a behaviour focus, entry to the Show is dependent on students upholding the ethos of the school – Good Citizens and following our school wide behaviour expectations of Be Safe, Be Responsible and Be Respectful. To enable all students a fair chance to participate, we have a 10 Chance system, which provides an equitable opportunity for all students to demonstrate good behaviour.

Any student who consistently shows disregard for the School’s Code of Conduct - Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible – will lose a chance. If a student loses all 10 chances, they will be unable to attend the Show.

Our aim is to foster Good Citizens at Ingham State School by reinforcing and rewarding positive behaviour.

All ride expenses will be covered by the school, however students will earn Gotchas to determine the amount of rides that they can have. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in side show activities organised and supervised by the teachers. There will be a special ‘Show’ tuckshop menu available for students to purchase and as well as the opportunity to purchase Show Bags and fairy floss as part of fundraising activities for the school

Lesson Days

Woodwind/Brass with Mrs Gunston – Thursday Strings with Mrs Wright – Wednesday afternoon (Year 4’s) and Friday

It’s hard to believe that it is the last week of school – this term seems to have gone by so quickly! Ensemble rehearsals for both Woodwind / Brass and String students will be held as normal this week. As this Thursday is the day of the ISS Show, there will be no instrumental lessons held in the middle session for any Woodwind / Brass students, so these students can enjoy the Show with their peers. All of the Year 4 Woodwind / Brass students will be having a group lesson in the afternoon, to work through their ensemble music in more detail. String lessons will be held as normal on Wednesday and Friday.

Please remember to keep up with the music practice during the holidays!

Year 6 Camp at TinarooPage 8

Day 2 – On Wednesday we split into two groups, yellow and purple. Through the cold and pouring rain purple group set off in their canoes to the abseiling rock. We spent the day smashing goals and overcoming fears. As teachers, watching these children accomplish goals brought tears to our eyes. We could not be more proud of you all. Yellow group spent their day on campus at the centre participating in group activities and exploring energy and electricity in some unique ways. They created milkshakes, powered LEGO cars, cooked a cake, all using the power of the sun (solar power). Our night time activities consisted of a bit of brain strain to answer quiz questions, dancing, singing and many laughs once again.

Day 3 – Thursday, the groups swapped activities. Yellow group set sail across the pristine lake in their canoes, with the sun shining on what was looking to be a picture perfect day. They challenged themselves on the abseiling rock, once again making their teachers proud. Purple group spent the day in the bush completing groups challenges and working together on the giant sea-saw, lava walk, and canyon swing. The leadership shown during the time both groups completed these activities was very impressive. Our last night at TEEC lead up to some ‘family’ time down by the lake around the warm fire pit. We had a sing a long, shared stories and experiences from camp and once again shared many more fun times.

Day 4 – Pack up time! After a long three days we gathered the troops and packed up our area leaving it just as we had found it. We thanked the staff at TEEC for the wonderful experiences we had all had, then loaded 50 sleepy children and 8 sleep deprived adults onto the buses and made the long journey home. No…the kids did not sleep on the bus!

As teachers and parent helpers we would like to thank all the children for the opportunity to share in your successes during the time we were on camp. We will have many funny stories to share for the years ahead and we could not be more proud of you all.

Mrs Ellis, Mrs Naughton, Mr Smith, Mr Barnes, Mrs Zatta and Mrs Zappala.

After a second attempt to plan camp we finally made it!! Last week from Tuesday to Friday the Year 6s attended camp at the Tinaroo Environmental Education Centre. When we arrived on Tuesday lunchtime we hit the ground running with setting up tents and group activities to familiarise ourselves with the centre. As night approached we all participated in some drama games and activities which brought many laughs to everyone.
