The link to the video clip has been uploaded to the Ingham State School Facebook page as a way for us to share the message with our school community to help stress the importance of train safety. As part of living in a cane growing district it is essential that we educate and regularly remind students of the dangers associated with the crushing season. I ask all parents and carers to ensure your young people are aware of the hazards and the need to watch out for trains, trucks and haul out tractors, which will become part of our daily lives for the remainder of the year. If students hear the ‘train brain’ song regularly, it may help to ensure they are aware of the dangers and act accordingly. The school had intended to have RACQ visit to deliver their road safety message but unfortunately, due to recent restrictions we are unable to provide this service at this time. I hope that we can arrange for the RACQ road safety message to be delivered during Term 3. The start of Term 3 is shaping up to see the return of a number of programs, which had previously been postponed: Playgroup is set to resume operation on Tuesday 13 July, and I know there are many youngsters and mothers keen to meet again and continue the exciting program that had become a weekly highlight earlier in the year. I am keen to see the littlies once again moulding the play dough, building blocks, playing in the sand pit and the many other exciting activities available to them. Breakfast Club is set to resume at the beginning of Term 3 with the introduction of new food preparation protocols. The Monday morning Breakfast Club had become a great meeting time for students to collect food and sit around chatting and catching up on the news from the previous weekend. It will be great to see this practice running again especially as we move into the winter months when warm toast and sunny mornings will be very welcome. To allow maximum time for teaching, learning and assessment tasks to be completed, Semester One reports will not be available until Wednesday, Week 2 of Term 3. By delaying the reporting period, teachers are able to maximise the school term to allow students more opportunity to finalise this term’s work and allow time to mark and moderate student outcomes. Early in Term 3, I will provide details of how and when parents/teacher interviews will be conducted whilst maintaining social distancing practices. I again remind our school community that the P&C AGM will be held on Tuesday 23rd June at 7.00pm in the Staff Room. This meeting will be conducted whilst observing social distancing protocols for the benefit of members in attendance. I encourage all Parents and Citizens to consider becoming a part of this very important committee which contributes so much support and assistance to the school for the benefit of our young people. The P&C are always keen to welcome new members as fresh ideas are always necessary. Whilst visitors and parent access to the school grounds is still restricted, I look forward to soon being able to meet again as a school community with parades, discos and sporting events returning to our calendar. I will keep everyone informed as the restrictions change. Regards Kevin Barnes Principal Please note: Newsletters will now be digital and emailed each Wednesday. Instrumental Music

It was wonderful to have nearly all of our instrumental music students remember to bring their instrument last week! This week, we are aiming to have all of our students remember to bring their instruments and music books to their lessons.

A reminder that instrumental days are as follows –

Woodwind/Brass with Mrs Gunston – Thursday Strings with Mrs Wright – Wednesday afternoon (Year 4’s) and Friday

Students are reminded to check the timetable outside the music room for the time of their lesson each week. Thank you to those parents who have been gently reminding their child about doing their music practice at home – your support is greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions, please contact either Mrs Wright or Mrs Gunston.

Ingham State School Voluntary Contribution

VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION SCHEME – 2020

Our voluntary contribution scheme is a very modest one. We use the funds to buy consumable resources for

students. Basically the funds in the scheme are used to purchase photocopy paper and consumables for printers

and copiers.

Our photocopy budget exceeds $40,000.00 each year. We are aiming to reduce this figure significantly with Maths

and Handwriting textbooks and our paper drive. This fee has been approved by the P&C Association.

I feel we get value for money from our contributions. Your help is important; please contribute as soon as you are

able – IF YOU HAVE PAID ALREADY- THANK YOU.

Please return the tear off strip below with payment.

Yours sincerely

Kevin Barnes
