Shivam Shorewala : Literature ( English) 2 Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) Aditya Khant, student IBDP Grade XII emerged as one among the twelve winners of the IRIS 2015 to represent India at the Intel ISEF in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, in May 2016, competing for scholarships and project support . Abhimanyu Pallavi Sudhir won a certificate of Honourable mention from American Mathematical Society. He was awarded the ‘Karl Menger Award’ in INTEL ISEF 2015, held at Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, USA 3 Cogito Research Award The Johns Hopkins Cent re for talented Youth (CTY) established the CTY Cogito Research Awards in 2013, to enable bright middle and high school students to conduct research in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields. Shubhangi Dutta, of IBDP Grade XI , participated in this event and was shortlisted as one of the 25 finalists for the award from amongst 250 applicants from all over the world. Her research was based on ‘Removal of Organ ic pollutants and Heavy Metal ions from industrial wastewater using activated Carbon Sorbents generated from Banana Peel Bio waste’ 4 Indian Robot Olympiad (IRO)- 2015 Shawn Chauhan of Class VIII, participated in Indian Robotics Olympiad (IRO) 2015 held at Gurgaon, NCR, in the junior High Category. His team was ranked third out of the thirty best teams who qualified from their respective regions of India, Shawn and his team represented India in the World Robotics Olympiad held in Doha, Qatar, from 5 to 9 November 2015 . 5 Golden Elephant Award Siya Chandreyi of IBDP Grade XI made a film called ‘The Silenced Siren’ which won the Golden Elephant Award for Best Feature Film in the 13-16 years age category (Little Directors) at the 19 th International Children’s Film Festival of India (CFFI) in Hyderabad in November 2015 .

Intel International Science & Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF)

Aditya Khant, student IBDP Grade XII emerged as one among the twelve winners of the IRIS 2015 to represent India at the Intel ISEF in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, in May 2016, competing for scholarships and project support . 3 Cogito Research Award

Shawn Chauhan of Class VIII, participated in Indian Robotics Olympiad (IRO) 2015 held at Gurgaon, NCR, in the junior High Category. His team was ranked third out of the thirty best teams who quali�ed from their respective regions of India, Shawn and his team represented India in the World Robotics Olympiad held in Doha, Qatar, from 5 to 9 November 2015 .

5 Golden Elephant Award

Siya Chandreyi of IBDP Grade XI made a �lm called ‘The Silenced Siren’ which won the Golden Elephant Award for Best Feature Film in the 13-16 years age category (Little Directors) at the 19th International Children’s Film Festival of India (CFFI) in Hyderabad in November 2015 .

1 IRIS National Science Fair 2015

The IRIS National Science Fair 2015 received over 2900 projects from across the country.

DAIS students Aman Ladia, Sachit Goyal, Manav Shah, Aditya Khant, Siddhant Bajaj and Jaiv Doshi were selected as �nalists out of the 102 students from all over India .

The di�erent projects submitted by them included “Pixie Ahorra - A hands free automation for power saving” ; “Ultimate Farmer’s tool” ; Air Touch - An application that enables Touch - Free Sensor - independent input for Human Computer Interaction ; and Arti�cial Intelligence .

2 Gandhi Global Centre for Peace – Essay Contest

Shiv Kampani‘s essay based on the theme of Nonviolence and essay was named the 2015 Gandhi Global Centre for Peace Student Essay.

3 UTS IT Competition

University of Technology, Sydney organised an Interschool IT competition in India. Three students of IGCSE Class X , Navya Mehta, Nakul Goenka and Ahan Sahu submitted a project titled “Calcu - Vator ”, a motivation calculator, able to calculate the motivation of the employees of any business. The students were felicitated with Medals, Certi�cates and Troph y.

DAIS was among the top 5 schools from the 50 that participated, and the project was selected as the best project among the top five entries.

4 Drums Festival

Anshu Venkateshwaran quali�ed for the “Dumru – The Drums Festival of India”. Anshu was the youngest among the top �ve young percussionist in India to have quali�ed to perform at th is festival in Pune from 18 to 20 December 2015 . Anshu bagged second position in ‘Dumru’.

Homi Bhabha Balvaigyanik Talent Search competition- 2015-16

Aarushi Majumder of Class IX was honoured with the gold medal at the Homi Bhabha Balvaigyanik Talent Search competition 2015 -2016.

Aarushi planned and executed a project titled " Increasing efficiency and reducing pollution from surroundings through the standardisation of solid waste management program."

6 National Genius Search Examination

National Genius Search Examination was held in the September 2015. 26 students from Class VIII and 26 students from Class IX participated. Many of our students reached the second level and the results are awaited.

7 National Science Talent Search Examination

National Talent Search Examination was conducted in the month of December 2015. 17 students from Class es IV, V and X participated. Chitvan Bansal was selected for the Second Level of the examination, which was held in January 2016. She was the City Topper in her class for Mumbai.

8 National Financial Literacy Assessment Test ( NFLAT)

National Financial Literacy Assessment Test was conducted in the month of November 2015. Students from Classes VIII, IX and X participated. Some outstanding mentions are: Rishabh Bhargava of Class X secured the All India Rank No. 1 in the Category Regional Winners.

Anuj Shah and Chitvan Bansal of Class X and Piran Karkaria of Class VIII have received Special Recognition Certificates and are placed in the top 100 ranks.

The following students are all placed in Merit Category: - Class VIII: Aanya Shahani , Devaansh Patel , Advaith Bala , Jayani Mehta , Saumya Parikh and Shaurya Parikh .

Class IX: Adarsh Sriram , Akshata Jain , Amay Maheshwari , Debaditya Mukhopadhyay and Shivali Shah.

Class X: Avi Anurag, Jai Naik and Varun Sivashankar.

2 10th Annual Pearl Padamsee Trophy

The Pearl Padamsee academy for creative excellence, organises an invigorating competition for students from all schools across Mumbai to challenge creativity in the performing Arts. Zaha Irani, Ishan Maker, Vikram Sivashankar and Tanya Kapur were selected for the finals of the Pearl Padamsee Trophy, held on 19 December 2015. Vikram Sivashankar of Class VII stood second in this very challenging competition and brought laurels to the school

3 Photo Exhibition for a Noble Cause

A Photo Exhibition called “Eye for An Eye" was held from 22 to 28th January’16 at Jehangir Art Gallery showcasing works of Class VIII students , Anvay Shah & Viraj Mehta. The sales proceeds were donated to National Association for the Blind. Anvay Shah & Viraj Mehta are the youngest artists permitted to display their work in India’s most esteemed art gallery , and are now amongst the listed artists of Jehangir Art Gallery.

4 Niki Hingad Art Foundation ( NHAF)

Niki Hingad Art Foundation (NHAF) in association with Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), an autonomous organization of the Government of India organized the fourth annual Inter School Drawing Competition 2015 titled ‘Make In India’ Art Competition for stud ents on March 28 at Sir J J School of Art. The competition witnessed participation of over 300 students across Mumbai . Our students participated in this drawing competition and performed exceedingly well

5 Water for Life

Three students participated in the Essay writing Competition ’Water for Life’ held at Nehru Science Centre and brought laurels to the School

1. Aanya Shahani – Class VIII; First Prize 2. Sarah A. Kagzi – Class IX; Encouragement Prize 3. Adrija Misra – Class IX; Special Excellence Prize

6 TCS IT WIZ Competition

Niladri Deb won the Cipher Contest at TCS IT WIZ conducted by TCS at the Mumbai Zone IT Quiz contest. The question was presented in an encrypted form and participants were required to decrypt the question and submit their answers on the TCSITWIZ Twitter Account. Niladri took less than two minutes to complete the entire process and was declared the winner.

7 We are the world

Annual Inter School International Cultural Extravaganza ‘We are the World’ is conducted annually by the Rotaract Club of H R College. This year, the event was held at Stanislaus High School. 42 students from Classes VII to IX participated and bagged prizes in the foll owing events: 1st Position in Art Attack 1st Position in Oodles of Doodles 2nd Position in Choir Singing

8 Bournvita Quiz Contest

Ten students participated in the Bournvita quiz Contest. Arnav Tawakle and Bilal Moin were declared runners up.

9 CONFLUENCE

Students participated in Con�uence 2015, an interschool competition organised by Singapore International School. Students from Grades IX and XI took part in online art, Cartooning, Art installation, Drama and Dance performance. Anshika Bajpai was successful in Cartooning Event
