Former India captain andcurrent Lok Sabha MPMohammed Azharuddin, in alllikelihood, would contest the

2014 Lok Sabha elections froma constituency in West Bengal.

Azharuddin, who formallyjoined Congress in Ferbruary,2009, had contested from

Moradabad in Western UttarPradesh in the last general elec-tions, defeating his nearest rivalKunvar Sarvesh Kumar Singh bya margin of over 50,000 seats.

However, the former Indiacaptain, who has special tieswith West Bengal and especiallyKolkata’s Eden Gardens, hasexpressed his willingness tofight this year’s election fromthe eastern state.

“Yes, there is a bright possi-bility that I will be contestingthis year’s Lok Sabha electionsfrom a seat in West Bengal,”Azharuddin told on the sidelinesof a promotional event heretoday.(PTI)
