Happy New Year from D-Travel

Hello Readers

Since the distribution of the last issue, I’ve been undergoing training in booking for ights and working towards developing new partnerships with the airline industry. Learning how the airline industry works has been interesting experience. I've come to understand how competitive they are. And I’ve been asking myself, what exactly is a good value for a plane ticket? I’ve reckoned for some it’s the fare but for others it’s the itinerary. Clearly our ying experiences are diverse and we have our own sliding scale of what is the best deal. No airfare ticket has equal value, though the preference for a shorter ight is common with all of us.

Also exciting to observe is that every minute some Deaf traveler arrives to his or her destination for business, vacation, volunteering or adventure. D-Travel Scoop hopes to collect Deaf traveler stories and share it with others. D-Travel publishes its e-magazine only four times a year, we like review our collection of stories and news through thematic lens. This winter 2013 quarterly takes you to dierent corners of our world. And for the rst time we have welcomed contribut-ing writers. Our contributors share their travel stories and experience with you. Their stories are epic explorations that might have you dreaming about doing so.

Our cover this month is Nori Matsumoto, a global trotter who pushes his deaf limits. He was my former ASL student for a couple of years in Tokyo of Japan before embarking his journey around the world for 6 years. Nori remained on the road without turning back home to his only family, his mother. He shares with us many exciting events if not mishaps. Co-writer Meghann and I enjoyed writing about him. We will be happier if we weren't limited to how much space we should write. Norihiro is a hero if not a travel idol. His journey around the world is like no other Deaf Traveler I know at the moment.
