Psychological supportWhat is counselling?Counselling offers you an opportunity to exploreyour problem in a trusting relationship. It does notprovide a quick and easy answer to a problem. However by talking to a counsellor you can begin tosee your situation more clearly and this may make iteasier to make decisions that may lead to a moresatisfying life.Counselling is non-judgmental, confidential andprovided by the Trust to support you.
Psychological TherapiesThe wellbeing team offer counselling support to allstaff. This includes counselling and CBT, which is beingoffered currently via telephone during the Covid-19pandemic. You can self refer to the service using thecontact details 01296 315998A member of the team will speak to you and completea triage process, then advise you about the waitingtime.
1:2:1 Resilience Wherever you are working in the Trust, helping todeliver our mission of "Safe Compassionate Care EveryTime" requires resilience. The Wellbeing Team can offer remote 1:1 sessions forall staff.
What is resilience?A little pressure is good and keeps you motivated, but too much pressure can lead to stress, which canaffect your health and performance. To managestress we all need resilience, which is simply theability to bounce back from difficult situations.
What is Mindfulness?Mindfulness is a mind-body approach to life thathelps us to relate differently to experiences. Itinvolves paying attention to our thoughts andfeelings in a way that increases our ability tomanage difficult situations and make wise choices,so that instead of reacting to stress in a purelyemotional way, we can respond to it in a moreconstructive fashion.

If a patient has a dental emergency they should contact a dental practice for a telephoneassessment to assess their dental needs. This could either be the dental practice they normally attend or an NHSpractice nearest to their home address, which can be located on https://www.nhs.uk/using-the-nhs/nhs-services/dentists/. If after giving advice, pain relief or prescription the practice assesses that a patient needs toreceive urgent treatment, they will refer them to an Urgent Dental Care hub. These new Urgent Dental Care hubs are being established on a referral-only basis to avoid walk-ins and non-urgent presentations. The hubs will carry out further triage to assess whether the patient needs to receive urgenttreatment. This is due to the safety considerations linked to the requirements of social distancing.

DermatitisWhat is work-related dermatitis?Dermatitis is a term used to describe the reaction that occurs when skin becomes inflamed. The main feature ofdermatitis is a skin rash – typically consisting of an area of red swollen skin, sometimes with tiny blisters thatweep and form a crust. The skin can become itchy, scaly or flaky and, if dermatitis persists for a long time, the skinbecomes thickened and cracked. Work-related or occupational dermatitis is caused by something in theworkplace – for example exposure to chemicals, frequent hand washing, or wearing gloves.
Where can I get more information about dermatitis?
Your occupational health department will be able to advise about getting the right treatment for dermatitis. Theywill advise both you and your manager about any specific causes in the workplace and how any risks might beminimised.

Create a workspace - create a motivating environment rather thansetting up in bed. Choose a dedicated area to work in that is away fromdistractions.
Set boundaries with family members - if you are isolating withmembers of your family, ensure they know that you are working andwhen you can and can't be distracted.
Start the day with a fixed routine - have a structure to yourday, plan your routine including breaks, so you can ensure thatyou step away from your work.
Stay motivated with a schedule and make lists - ifyou feel unmotivated and a bit lost - make a list to helpyou keep on track
Fix a time for regular meetings with colleagues - keep in touchwith your team and check in with one another. Let them know howyou are feeling and ask for support when you need it!
