All Types/Brake Gear Bushes.

Brief Account of

Problem.

Manufacturer initial and year of

manufacture is not traceable and

getting defaced on run in the brake

gear bushes within 9 months. Hence

raising warranty claim is very

difficult. Specific clause/condition to

be stipulated in the RDSO

specification with the marking

should be permanent and clearly

visible up to the condemnation

period of brake gears for raising

necessary warranty claims.

Elongation of brake gear lever pin

holes and Wearing of pin number 3

due to poor performance of HPPA

brake gear bushes.

Decision taken

during the

meeting.

Rlys are requested to write to RDSO,

RB with a copy to ICF & RCF

indicating vendor wise, vintage wise

failure analysis.

CME instructed CDE/Mech to raise

this issue in the CMG meeting and

go for a solution and advised Rlys to

write to RB and RDSO repeatedly.

CME - We should revert back to

nylon bushes.

In the HPPA brake gear bushes supplied by trade, the Drg. No. and date of manufacturing

code are printed as per extant drawings.

During POH/IOH, it is noticed that the name are defaced/smeared away.

Due to the names defacing, it is very difficult identify the date of manufacturing and

particles get contaminated in grease.

ICF being manufacturing unit, may

relook into the modification done in

primary suspension like use of hytrel

washers etc. and take measures to

prevent such cases and thus increase the

coach reliability & reduce the down

time.

o SR - Axle box getting canted due to

wearing of hytrel washer. The limit of

radial clearance of bearing in service to

be reduced.

Decision taken

during the

meeting.

It was decided in the CMG meeting that RDSO to

submit a report to RB within 2 months. Rlys (with a
