Crowd Management at Tuljapur Mandir during Navratri Utsav - 2015 Tuljabhavani temple is the holy of hindus situated in Osmanabad district. It is a Shaktipith and The goddess is Kulswamini of most of the people of Maharashtra. During Jyot ceremony i.e. one day earlier to Navratri festival wherein young boys from entire districts of osmanabad, latur and solapur come to temple. The enlight the jyot and take it by running on foot with their respective villages. In 2013 at Mahadwar there was stamped in which one elder man died and four person were injured. The topography of the temple is such that there is very little place around the temple. The entire temple is surrounded by houses and no new approach roads are early possible. The major challenge in crowd management is that on a single road (Tuljabhavaji Road) VIP movement, the crowd entering the temple and the returning crowd conglomerate at the same place. Because of this situation at many times it becomes humanly impossible to screen and frisk the entire crowd to prevent terror strike or any untoward incident. The District police team along with mandir management observed the pattern of crowd, the pressure points and manpower deployed. Also if changes in existing route have to be made it should respects the religious customs and convenience of people. Accordingly one month before Navratri festival was going to start, a joint visit of all concern departments was made. A new route was identified for giving entry in to the temple. It was from Ghatshil Parking area. This new route helped us in 1) Reducing the no. of pressure points 2) Effective screening and frisking of people entering the temple area a DFMD plaza along with baggage scanners were installed. 3) Distribution of crowd into various rows. 4) Smooth movement of crowd. 2015 Navratri bandobast had been successful without any mishap.
