Craiginfinny is an impressive detached house situated amidst striking rural and coastal surroundings on the South Rhins Peninsula close to the Mull of Galloway, Scotland’s most southerly point. The house stands within a generous, gently sloping site from where it commands a south easterly aspect across surrounding farmland towards Luce Bay and beyond to the Galloway Hills, Solway and Cumbrian coasts and Isle of Man. This is a superb family home that equally lends itself as a bespoke Bed & Breakfast opportunity ideally suited to those looking for a lifestyle change. Built approximately 10 years ago Craiginfinny is a substantial house extending to about 3153 ft². The interior of the house is arranged over ground, first floor and lower ground floor levels. The house is superbly appointed with skirtings and architraves, doors and main floor areas in solid American white oak. The house is entered by way of a vestibule which is located on the west elevation. From the vestibule there is access to the attractive oak floored reception hallway where, as its focal point, is a stair with oak balustrade to the accomodation on the first floor. From the hall there is access to the sitting room, dining kitchen, study and to a further hallway which connects through to the bedrooms on the ground floor. There is a study off the main hall, this with a southerly aspect. The room could equally be utilised as a further bedroom if so required. The sitting room is on the eastward side of the house. This is a spectacular space with two sets of sliding glass doors onto a timber deck. The fine south easterly views can well be enjoyed from this principle room. The dining kitchen is light and airy equipped with cabinets extending at base level, slate tiled floor and with ample space within the kitchen for family dining. The kitchen enjoys a dual aspect west and north. From the kitchen there is a door off connecting to a utility room where the oil central heating boiler is located and also where there is a second staircase affording access to the lower ground floor. Completing the accomodation on the ground floor is a shower room and 3 bedrooms, one of which has en suite shower room and a dressing room. Moving upstairs one alights in the large living room where again south easterly aspects can be savoured. This room has sliding glass door onto a timber decked area. From the living room there is access off to the master bedroom and guest bedroom. The master bedroom enjoys a south easterly aspect and is equipped with a built in wardrobe and also a storage cupboard which extends over the stair. The master bedroom has an en suite shower room. The guest bedroom has a northerly outlook and it too has fitted wardrobes and an en suite shower room. At lower ground floor level there is a large workshop and this space would easily afford garaging perhaps following a slight modification of the main doors to afford vehicular access. At the foot of the stairs coming down from the utility room to the workshop area is a w.c and wash hand basin. Central heating is by way of oil and windows are double glazed in uPVC casements. Craiginfinny’s well kept grounds mostly comprise sweeping lawns which extend to the south and eastward sides of the house. Extending along the south side of the grounds is a landscaped space fashioned in such a way as to incorporate drystane walls, steps and gravelled areas. Double timber gates open on to a concrete drive which in turn frames the house along its west and south sides and finishing at the east side of the house where parking is afforded.

Craiginfinny is situated in an area of Wigtownshire known as the South Rhins Peninsula. The southern tip of the peninsula is the Mull of Galloway which in turn is Scotland’s most southerly point. Wigtownshire is renowned for its unspoilt scenery and Craiginfinny stands within beautiful countryside in this delightful corner of south west Scotland. The immediate area is coastal and so there are a variety of large sandy beaches on the east of the peninsula while on the west the landscape is more rugged with rocky cliffs, promontories and some sandy inlets. The nearest village is Drummore and it has its own little harbour. Also in the village is a shop, inn, bowling green, primary school, doctors surgery and dispensary. Although delightfully rural Craiginfinny’s situation affords easy access to many of the attractions that this corner of Wigtownshire offers which include: the aforementioned Mull of Galloway, gardens open to the public including Logan Botanic Gardens and Castle Kennedy Gardens; Galloway Forest offering exceptional walking and cycling and boasting its recent designation as the first Dark Sky Park outside the USA. There are many beautiful coastal walks to be enjoyed, stone circles and ancient ruins along with an RSPB Reserve to visit. There are other sporting opportunities such as trout and salmon fishing on the districts numerous Lochs. Sea Angling is available in the district both from rocks along the coastline and by boat from nearby Ardwell, Stranraer and Port Logan. The village of Portpatrick has a delightful harbour as its focal point and in Portpatrick there are a number of restaurants and bars. It is from Portpatrick that you start along the Southern Upland Way. There are numerous golf courses, these being at Stranraer, Portpatrick, Glenluce, Newton Stewart and there are also many more in Ayrshire including the internationally renowned links at Turnberry, and a super 18 hole municipal course at Girvan. The principal town serving the area is Stranraer and this is about a 30 minute drive away. In Stranraer is a variety of independent and multiple retailers, restaurants, bars, park with boating lake, library, general hospital, primary and secondary schooling, leisure complex and cinema. Stranraer has a marina and plans are afoot for the facilities here to be further enhanced. A railway station at Stranraer harbour provides connections north to Ayr, Prestwick Airport and Glasgow. The main routes into this corner of Wigtownshire are the A77 which follows a route south from Ayr/Glasgow along the Ayrshire coast. Travelling west from Carlisle and Dumfries it is the A75. Ayr 69 miles, Prestwick Airport 72 miles, Dumfries 82 miles and Carlisle 116 miles (all mileages quoted approximate)
