Light of life beyond conceiving, Mighty Spirit of our Lord;Give new strength to our believing, Give us faith to live your word.

From the dawning of creation, You have loved us as your own;Stay with us through all temptation, Make us turn to you alone.

In our call to be a blessing, May we be a blessing true;May we live and die confessing Christ as Lord of all we do.

Living Water of salvation, Be the fountain of each soul;Springing up in new creation, Flow in us and make us whole.

Communion: Psalm of Hope

Closing Song: Jesus, Remember Me

1. My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? Far from my prayers, far from my cries, all day and night I call. Yet, our ancestors put their trust in you. You rescued them, you saved them from all foes.

2. But here am I, the scorn of all my people. They say, “if God is now your friend, let God rescue you.” From my mother’s womb you are my God. You held me up, you placed me in your arms.

3. The evildoers circle in around me. I am enslaved in chains of death, I can count all my bones. O my strength, hasten to my aid. Come save my life, come quickly to my help. 4. I shall proclaim your name to the full assembly. Those who fear God, exult and praise; Glorify the Lord. All generations, all children of the earth: Proclaim for ever the wondrous deeds of God.

*1. You did not turn your face from all your people. You rescued them from chains of death, you raised them from despair. Ev’ry nation on earth from end to end Shall turn to you and bow before your throne.

*2. And so my soul shall live for you, O Lord of hope. My children shall bring forth your deeds and magnify your name. All my descendants shall know your ways, O Lord. May they proclaim the justice you have shown.

What to Expect During

HOLY WEEKWe are blessed this year with the ability to celebrate the liturgies of Holy Week in person and virtually. However, there will be some limitations based on diocesan guidelines:

Palm Sunday

Holy Thursday

• The washing of feet will be omitted.• No Eucharistic Procession at the end of Mass and no Eucharistic

Adoration at the altar of repose following Mass.

Good Friday • Only the presider will be permitted to physically embrace and kiss

the cross. All others will be invited to adore the cross from a distance without physically touching it.

Holy Saturday, Easter Vigil

• No paschal fire will be lit.• Mass will begin in the Church.• The Baptisms will occur by pouring instead of full immersion.• The usual custom at Corpus Christi of the faithful coming forward to

bless themselves with Holy Water as a reminder of baptism will be omitted this year.

• The faithful will still be sprinkled with Holy Water by the celebrant.• At the end there will be no Hospitality offered after Mass.

Easter Sunday

• We are adding a Mass in order to accommodate for social distancing – Mass will be celebrated at both 9 am and 11 am this year. There will be no 6 pm Mass Easter Sunday.

• The faithful will still be sprinkled with Holy Water by the celebrant.

• There will be no special entrance procession in Commemoration of the Lord’s Entrance into Jerusalem.

• Blessed palms will be made available for those not able to attend one of the Palm Sunday Masses in person. The blessed palms will be spread out in the east hallway between 12:30 and 5pm on Sunday. Enter through the East side door of the Church.

• A donation box will also be available in the hallway for weekend offerings and Easter envelopes.

• Parishioners are also encouraged to deliver their Lenten Care bag donations that day. Those donations may also be left in the hallway between 12:30 and 5pm. No donations will be accepted after Palm Sunday.

Palm Sunday

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of the most solemn week of the Church’s liturgical year. During Holy Week, the Church celebrates the mysteries of salvation accomplished by Christ in the last days of his earthly life, beginning with the triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

For nearly 40 days, the Christian faithful have practiced the disciplines of Lent: prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. Now the Church invites us to an even deeper spirit of prayer as we follow Christ on his journey to the Cross.

Here are some suggestions for families to use this week as an opportunity to grow in holiness as individuals and as a family.

1. During the week, pray the seven PenitentialPsalms together (Psalm 6, 32, 38, 51, 102,130, and 143; www.usccb.org/bible/psalms/6).These are especially appropriate during Lent.Prayerfully reciting these psalms helps us torecognize our sinfulness, express our sorrow, and ask for God’s forgiveness.

2. Celebrate the Sacrament of Penance if youhaven’t already done so during Lent.

3. Attend a service together on Holy Thursdayand/or Good Friday. On Thursday, the Churchrecalls the Last Supper and Jesus’ gift of hisBody and Blood.

4. On Holy Saturday, pray for those who willbe received into the Catholic Church duringthe Easter Vigil. Pray, too, for a deepeningof your own faith and the grace to endurethe suffering and celebrate the joys ofmarried life.

From an Ancient Homily for Holy Saturday

Something strange is happening—there is a great silence on earth today, a great silence and stillness. The whole earth keeps silence because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and he has raised up all who have slept ever since the world began. God has died in the flesh and hell trembles with fear.

—Office of Readings on Holy Saturday, Liturgy of the Hours

“The agony in Gethsemane was the introduction to the agony of the Cross on Good Friday. The holy hour, the hour of the redemption of the world.”
