Dear Friends, Today’s gospel is an instruction to the disciples who are sent to preach the good news. It is an instruction of authority and trust in the master who is sending them. The whole world is a mission land ripe to harvest. There is a great sense of longing in the lives of the people to receive the word of God. Its like virgin lands waiting for seed to be plantted. In fact every Christian is a disciple, a follower of Christ and laborer in his vineyard. We need to be aware and committed to our responsibility as the disciples of Christ. In our present situation the proclamation of the Holy Gospel. is all the mire important The universe is fast becoming a godless society and we are witnesses to these changes. Somethings are very painful to see of people walk away from God, deny Him and just ignore him as well. Proclamation of the gospel is not just the responsibility of the Church as an institution but it is our responsibility too. As we all have received the gift of faith so should we all share that gift with others. As Jesus says in the gospel that the harvest is plenty but the laborers are very few. We need to encourage our young people and elders to be committed to the proclamation of the gospel. God bless you all.

Queridos amigos, El evangelio de hoy es una instruc-ción para los discípulos que están en camino de predicar las buenas nuevas. Es una instrucción de autoridad y confianza en el maestro que los envía. El mundo entero es una tierra de misión rica para cosechar. Hay una gran sensación de anhelo en las vidas de las personas que reciben la palabra de Dios. Es como tierra virgen esperando que la semilla sea sembrada. De hecho, todo cristiano es discípulo, seguidor de Cristo y obrero en su viña. Necesitamos estar conscientes y comprometidos con nuestra responsabilidad como discípulos de Cristo. En nuestra situación actual, todo lo que es importante es la proclamación del Santo Evangelio. El universo se está convirtiendo rápidamente en una sociedad sin Dios y somos testigos de estos cambios. Algunas cosas son muy dolorosas al ver que las personas se alejan de Dios, lo niegan y lo ignoran también. La proclamación del evangelio no es la responsabilidad justa de la Iglesia como institución, sino que es nuestra responsabilidad. Como todos hemos recibido el don de la fe, debemos compartir el don a los demás. Como dice Jesús en el evangelio, la cosecha es abundante, pero los obreros son muy pocos, especialmente en nuestro respeto. Necesitamos animar a nuestros jóvenes y ancianos a comprome-terse con la proclamación del evangelio. Dios les bendiga a todos.

Nosotros También Somos Predicadores Nuestro Evangelio esta semana nos muestra la mentalidad de San Lucas. Es un converso al Camino de Jesús. Él quiere mostrarnos que, como él, cada cristiano que se convierte a Cristo se convierte en un ministro del Evangelio. Los apóstoles, como los obispos, y los sacerdotes y diáconos, tienen su forma de predicar la Buena Nueva del Reino. Cada Cristiano tiene su propio camino también. Es por eso que Lucas muestra que Jesús no estaba satisfecho de que él y sus apóstoles solos predicaron. Envió a 72 de sus otros discípulos a hacer lo mismo. Recuerda, la situación es urgente. Jesús está en camino a Jerusalén, donde con su muerte logrará nuestra salvación. Se necesita acción. Este es su último viaje. "La cosecha es abundante", dice Jesús, "pero los obreros son pocos". Al enviar el 72, Jesús les da instrucciones casi idénticas para su misión, como lo hizo con los doce cuando los envió antes. San Lucas sugiere que su misión es muy parecida a la de los apóstoles. We Are Preachers Too

Our Gospel this week shows us the mentality of St. Luke. He is a convert to the Way of Jesus. He wants to show us that like him, every Christian in turning to Christ becomes a minister of the Gospel. Apostles, like Bishops, and Priests and Deacons, have their way of preaching the Good News of the Kingdom. Every Christian has his or her way as well

That’s why Luke shows that Jesus was not satisfied that he and his Apostles alone did the preaching. He sent 72 of his other disciples to do the same. Remember, the situation is urgent. Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem, where by his death he will accomplish our salvation. Action is needed. This is his final journey.

“The harvest is abundant,” says Jesus, “but the laborers are few.” In sending out the 72, Jesus gives them almost identical instructions for their mission as he gave to the twelve as he sent them out earlier. St. Luke is suggesting that their mission is quite the same as that of the Apostles. Brought into our own times, we have no leas responsibility to spread the Gospel than do the Priest, Bishop or Deacon.

The Vatican Council, Decree on the Apostolate of the Laity (1965), points out that lay people have the opportunity constantly to be in the heart of families and in many places that the clergy may visit only occasionally. This lingering presence of Jesus is the way of a huge majority in the Church to preach the Way. They do so largely by the example of their Christian lives, but also by their informed comments. It is important to keep our ears open and to learn the facts of the Catholic Faith.

Some folks choose to be hardheaded. They resist the Faith. At such times Jesus dictates an attitude perfectly all right to have: “Say to them, ‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that I shake off against you. Yet know this, ‘the Kingdom of God is close at hand.’” We wouldn’t use exactly those words. Ours might sound something like this: “Look, you go your way and I’ll go mine. Jesus taught the Way, and that’s the Way I follow.”

Los setenta y dos discípulos regresaron llenos de alegría y le dijeron a Jesús: “Señor, hasta los demonios se nos someten en tu nombre”. Él les contestó: “Vi a Satanás caer del cielo como el rayo. A ustedes les he dado poder para aplastar serpientes y escorpiones y para vencer toda la fuerza del enemigo, y nada les podrá hacer daño. Pero no se alegren de que los demonios se les someten. Alégrense más bien de que sus nombres están escritos en el cielo”.
