1. DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

-Prof. Sunil Patil, Director, SITM

Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management (SITM) is the pioneer institute, founded in 1996. The institute has been providing excellent talent pool to the telecom and ICT industry and also to the other companies who are part of the evolving ecosystem of telecom and IT in India and outside. Over the years, the institute has established strong connections with the companies globally. SITM continues to reach out to experts in the industry for seeking their participation in various events such as panel discussions, workshops, guest lectures, and seminars. The team at SITM believes that our relationship with companies must be multi-faceted covering areas like jointly working on projects, internships, publications, exchange programs, and sabbaticals for the faculty as well as employees in companies.

I personally visit several companies every year and enjoy immensely the kind of an interaction I have with the company officials. I learn a lot about the business dynamics and challenges faced by companies for the present and in the future which helps us at SITM in making necessary adjustments in the curriculum to keep it highly industry relevant. I intend to strengthen this initiative by seeking active participation of experts in the advisory council of SITM. Team SITM will continue to build even stronger relationship with the Corporate India and seek guidance, advice, suggestions for taking our relationships to the next level.

I wish lots of luck to the ‘Connect’ team at SITM for connecting and integrating SITM with the companies in India and outside. I will support this team every step of the way in this initiative and look forward to the next issue of the newsletter.

2. CORPORATE CONNECT Conexion `15: HR-Management Conclave of SITM

At SITM, we make an effort to stay aligned with the best business practices and maintain concurrency with the ever-changing demands of the corporate world. Ergo, this is the 6th year that SITM organized “CONEXION” which is the HR-MANAGEMENT CONCLAVE of SITM. The objective of organizing this event on such a gargantuan scale was to gather HR personage from various organizations and obtain their priceless insights on different facets related to the industries. This would also

assist in the development of the students in a holistic manner.

CONEXION’ 14 had a very relevant contemporary theme the agenda of which was “Cultural and Communication: Positioning for the Future”. It was an Inspiring event which encompassed HR-Jargons from all the top-notch organizations.

This year we decided to reinvent ourselves with a fresh theme “Recruitment Re-engineering: Talent Analysis through Technology”. This theme, as the name suggests, highlighted the role of Technology in Talent Acquisition. The nerve centre of CONEXION’ 15 was to discuss strategies for talent recruitment with the objective of matching resource needs in the coming Techno-specific business environment. We had two panel discussions under this contemporary theme the agenda of which were ‘Leveraging Talent analytics: Building a sustainable competitive edge’

and ‘Attracting the Best Resource: Employer Brand Journey’. The stage was graced by eminent corporate stalwarts like Mr. Sanjay Kumar, VP-Capability building and Knowledge Management, ITC InfoTech, Mr.Devesh Chaturvedi, HR Consultant, Orange Business Services, Ms. Amrita Kachroo, Regional Head-HR, Airtel, Mr. Vishnu Iruvanti, Head-Talent Acquisition, Myntra.com, Mr. Nishant Prabhu, HR Head, TCS, Mr. Mehul Pandya, Assistant VP-HR, Axis Risk Consulting, Mr. Ritesh Gupta, Associate VP-HR and National Head of People Services, IDEA, Mr. Ajay Nair, Chief HR Officer, Housing.com, Ms. Juhi Sahu, Senior Manager-HR, Tikona Pvt. Ltd. and Mr. Karan Bakshi, HR Manager, Tibco Softwares.

The event was an enlightening experience for all the students and an opportunity for them to get a first-hand feel of the corporate world.

The Interview

Question: How did you come to know about SITM?

Mr. William So: Well actually, a few years ago, when I was working for another company, I was invited to International Telecom Seminar at SITM.

Question: Did you like it there?

Mr. William So: Oh yes, I loved the campus and the ambience of the institute. Since the institute focuses on Telecom Industry, hence I decided to offer internship to you.

Question: Sir, you have worked with Industry Giants like IBM, Lenovo, China Unicom etc. What have been your key learning so far?

Mr. William So: I have predominantly worked on Start-up positions in most of these companies. So I think, I understand and also enjoy building a company from the scratch.

Question: So basically, you have been offered roles of an entrepreneur?

Mr. William So: Yes, one of the reasons I admire getting such roles is because it gives more room for your imagination to flow. If a company is a mature company, then you have to work sticking to rules, processes and guidelines. And most importantly, it gives you more job satisfaction as compared to those Giant Companies.

Question: Any one upcoming trend in the IT & Telecom Industry that you feel has the potential to change industry’s outlook?

Mr. William So: I think these industries have reached saturation, both the IT and Telecom Industries are no longer separate industries. These days you cannot clearly define whether this is Telecom or IT. Both of these have converged and together we call it the ICT Industry.

Question: As you are very busy, how do you balance your professional and family life?

Mr. William So: I have a very small family comprising my wife, my daughter and me. So I don’t have many people to take care of. My daughter is working overseas. And when I go home, I usually divert my mind away from business.

I don’t indulge myself into business work at home, unless it’s very important.

Let us have a look at what the corporates have to say about the changing business scenario and SITM

Mr.William So, President, U-Ton International, China

Question: The business environment, the current scenario seems to have improved, especially after the general elections as the new government has come in. So, how do you think the companies have delivered to this changing scenario?

Mr.Sandeep Agarwal: I think it’s too early to say, but I genuinely feel that our Government is on the right track and people need to give time to make sure that the Government does the right things at the right time. Our prime issue is that India has never been seen by the world as a manufacturing hub. The world needs to see that innovation and creation happens in India. This brings the ‘Make in India’ campaign into light. People need to start creating an ecosystem required for product building catering to Indian as well as global market. This would take time and we can’t expect that to happen within 6 months or one year.

If this Government consistently puts all policies and the right framework in place, we would see a lot of changes. This one is from ‘Make in India’ point of view. The second aspect to this discussion is that we are opening doors for people to come in India. Whether it is in defence, in security or in aerospace, we are opening doors for people for different nations to come, establish their units in India and then develop products for a localized customer market. That is how Chinese people attract big customers for local market as well as for global market. So I think in both these contexts, it’s a good move but we need to see over a period of time whether the government will be able to put this into action.

Question: Coming on to the economic growth related questions; Indian GDP now seems to be accelerating at about 7-8% in the current financial year. So, what do you think is the biggest challenge in the Indian growth story?

Mr.Sandeep Agarwal: India has grown a lot in past two decades. The real growth has taken place after the year 2000 for India. If we talk about any million-dollar company coming up from India, it is post 2000. But, all that has been resource and labour intensive.

Now, the economy is expanding and the innovation is happening. This whole product ecosystem which is created has to support entrepreneurship. This will drive India. We will see that people are becoming more and more creative. All these things, in my opinion, will drive the future growth of Indian GDP.

Question: You’ve got a vast experience of 20+ years. So, how do you think the telecom industry has transformed in two decades?

Mr.Sandeep Agarwal: It is a massive transformation. I think there are different people transforming two major areas. One is the Software Industry. They have to be far ahead in creating those product systems to operate and sell it to telecom ecosystem because they have maximum reach that can connect consumers to the telecom industry. So, they are the prime enablers in terms of new technology, the new services that would be launched and the whole connectivity that they provide. Till now, telecom ecosystem primarily has been a connectivity provider.

Mr. Sandeep Agarwal, Senior VP, Happiest Minds Technologies

Now, telecom has evolved from being not just a voice and data provider but also a connectivity provider. I feel the next change they need to adopt quickly is to become a ‘Value Added Services’ provider.

It is not only a data pipe where services like WhatsApp, Google make money out of the data plan. They need to become integrated players, where technologies like M2M and IoT actually get a launching platform depending not just on the data plan provider but also the Quality of Service.

Question: What are the important things that we should keep in mind when a student enters the corporate world? Especially for freshers, what basic skills do they need to develop?

Mr.Sandeep Agarwal: I think corporate world is different. Academics do not really help in the corporate world. The theoretical concepts are not project-based. They are not what the industry wants.

The major gap is actually in understanding and then relating the theoretical concepts. The business use case scenario has to be converted into technology for innovation to start happening.

Thus, more partnership has to happen between the academics and the industry where the theoretical concepts start getting applied to the industry context. Subsequently, when students come out of college, they are already into the corporate mode.

I feel that’s where challenges will be reduced for a fresher entering into a corporate world because he would be confident.

I feel it will add a lot more value to SITM!

Question: ‘Connect’, an initiative from our college, where we try to connect with different corporate gaining their ideas and insights about the industry. So, in your opinion, to connect with the corporate world, how do you think this medium is going to help us? How effective it would be?

Mr.Sandeep Agarwal: The more you are connected to the corporate, the more you don’t get that surprise when you enter the corporate world. You know how it works and what the expectations are. You know some of the processes in industry and what goes into it and how a customer has to be made happy. Things become easier if you have a good corporate relationship.

Question: We would like to have your suggestions for the Connect Team. Where should we concentrate for this initiative?

Mr.Sandeep Agarwal: I feel the corporate must also gain a value addition from the students. At this point, it is more of an academic view. So, what we want to put in the frame of things is that they are interacting with the corporate and move forward.

There has to be an ecosystem. Corporate should also have certain value derived from a student’s performance. With what students want to do vs. what corporate want to do, I think we can create and deliver a lot more value for SITM.

Question: The business environment in country seems to have improved in recent times, especially after general elections. How do you think the companies have benefited from the changed scenario?

Mr.Gautam Karmakar: I think what is most important is the positive outlook which our country has got; the investments are coming back again which is very important. Secondly, the positive energy triggered by these positive outlooks in the industry is helping to propagate growth again. Hopefully in a few months, we would be able to see the industry on the growth trajectory again.

Question: Sir, you started your career in 2002 and today we are in 2015, so how do you think telecom industry has transformed itself over the years?

Mr.Gautam Karmakar: Yes, Immensely!

Initially we were like land grabbers. There was empty land everywhere and we just went and occupied whatever we could get. Now, I think it is totally urbanized, industry is crowded, intense competition exists, pricing and regulation; everything has seen a sea of change. Now, I think it is the survival of the fittest and hopefully the best will survive.

Question: Moving on, at SITM, we focus on student’s involvement in activities like pertaining to placements, Alumni relationships, Branding, Event organizing and Institutions social responsibility. How do you think such activities promote personality development?

Mr.Gautam Karmakar: Yes, I think one of the most important USPs which I like about being an SITM Alumnus is that they allow students to do things on their own. So, it automatically helps you to realize that the most important things for being successful are being participative and with these kinds of activities, you naturally inculcate those tendencies. This would help you to adapt to industry and be successful.

Question: Sir, what is the X-Factor of success according to you in today’s highly competitive business environment?

Mr.Gautam Karmakar: The industry today needs speed, accuracy and time. Simple example is how e-commerce industry is changing the way these days.

WhatsApp and such other OTT platforms are making telecom industry think on what needs to be done. So, it will keep hitting you but you need to adapt.

Question: How do you think the interns from SITM perform in the two months training?

We would like you to suggest ways to increase interaction between institute and your company.

Mr.Gautam Karmakar: We had a batch of trainees in the recent past. So, an all-around interaction has been really good. A lot of my team members have given positive feedbacks and some of them came back saying that we want more interns to come and add value to whatever we are doing. Best part is that you guys bring unbiased perspective which is what most of us look for and that really helps.

Mr.Gautam Karmakar,Chief Service Officer, Bharti Airtel Ltd.

Question: The business environment seems to have improved in recent times after general elections, how do you think companies have benefitted from the change in scenario?

Mr. Mathew Varghese: Agreeing to your point, there has been a lot of euphoria around and definitely there have been steps taken to improve the business conditions but still a lot of measures have to be in place while taking a leap forward. A lot of economic reforms have taken place but still there is a lot scope for improvement.

The market has revived, thanks to the fall in oil prices which has proved to be a sigh of relief for the present government. As such, what I believe is that the 2nd year is much more crucial than the 1st year for the Government as delivering on the promises is much important than just giving assurance. The efficient and effective changes that take place over the course of time would definitely prove to be a game changer. Seeing the positive sentiments, we are hopeful for having some positive measures taken for telecom sector because for last so many years the competition has been very fierce and in the present year there have been a lot of regulatory activities going on, making it a mixed year for the sector. For the economy on the whole, the picture looks really good.

Question: Indian GDP has accelerated by 7 to 8% in current financial year. What is the biggest challenge, in general, according to you?

Mr. Mathew Varghese: According to me, the biggest challenge is Sustainability. To attain a position is easy but to sustain it, is what matters. Right now, India is undergoing a good phase as in terms of GDP, reason being the lower oil prices and initiatives taken by the government. They all are adding up to a positive momentum building up.

Unlike for other sectors, IT industry has not reaped the benefits of this as it has suffered many setbacks. As seen, there is a wave of culture shift that can be felt everywhere. The work force pattern has changed drastically. As such, it is going to be the start-ups that will be pushing the economy forward as compared to their counterparts. Seeing the present scenario the things are looking good and hopefully it will continue in the future too.

Question: In SITM we promote student’s involvement in many extra activities like CSR, Alumni Relations, Event Organization and many others too, so how do you think it is going to help build their personality?

Mr. Mathew Varghese: Input is good. The students at SITM are a cut above the rest. They, unlike other B-schools, have first-hand knowledge of telecom sector. Thus getting things done by them regarding this sector is pretty easy. But, with the passage of time what is required is to reinvent oneself. Just remaining stuck to the telecom sector won’t be sufficient. Diversification is required on a personal basis so as to have a knowledge of all sectors and having a better perspective.

Question: What are the things expected of a student when he enters the corporate world?

Mr. Mathew Varghese: There is always a gap between theory and practical knowledge which a student experiences when he is on-board a company. There are various X-factors that are point of differentiation between field work and textual knowledge. These days, an intern is expected to be geared up for handling projects just after a couple of months of training as the honeymoon period has been crunched so as to meet the stringent deadlines. The person is expected to hit the ground running. The faster the person does that, it is beneficial for his growth in the company.

Mr. Mathew Varghese,Marketing Head, Karnataka Circle, Aircel

A professional needs to have an interaction on varied levels. A mixed interaction with people who have spent good amount of time in the industry as well as young managers is what is required to have a balance in knowledge from all levels. This is necessary to have a perspective from both the sides.

Question: SITM gives great importance to summer projects. Can you suggest some measures to make some improvements in this regard?

Mr. Mathew Varghese: More interaction at junior level is what is required alongside getting knowledge from experience holders. Local industries should be visited to have a feel of the industry lifestyle; at least a 100+ days should be allotted for industrial teaching in a 52-week course. To have a deeper knowledge of corporate world, there should be longer duration of this on-job training in comparison to just 2 months of summer training.

Question: What are the X factors to success according to you?

Mr. Mathew Varghese: Being adaptive, carrying less of pre-conceived notions and visualization of things from varied perspective is what is required. As the sector is fluid, one need to go with the flow, one should be flexible enough to take the job that is offered. One should be on the sleeves to take up any kind of job flow as it is a dynamic sector and requires people to be so.

3. ALUMNI CONNECT THE VISIONARY

I had always dreamt of starting my own company, being my own boss, making it large and carving out an identity for myself. I did not find the zest working in the corporate world and rather felt like one of the spokes of a wheel, doing the same work mundanely, with no personal growth or learning. After passing out from SITM in year 2010, I started working in a VAS company. Side by side I started working on my first venture. My first venture was an event information website and second venture was a healthcare IT company. These two ventures failed miserably but those failures taught me very important lessons. It’s important to know what to do but it’s even more important what not to do. Armed with all these learning’s my third venture finally tasted success. Only once I had couple of paying clients I quit my fulltime job and Helical IT was born, this had helped me to mitigate risk.

My current venture Helical IT is a Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing Company. We are providing services and also are building a next generation BI product. Now 1.5 years down the line and having served more than 15 customers till date, we have been funded and are providing services to many clients including some Fortune 500 as well. We have also been named as “One of the 25 Most Promising BI Companies in India” by CIO India Review.

Each and every day is a new challenge in a startup, and you get to learn all the aspects of a business right from marketing, sales, HR processes, finance, taxation laws, CA practices, hiring processes, expansion, funding, PR and media interaction, product development, laws, IT, admin etc. As said by Reid Hoffman (founder of LinkedIn) about entrepreneurship “Starting up is like jumping off the cliff and assembling an airplane down the way”.

Starting your own company is one of the most difficult and challenging thing you are ever likely to do. The journey would be one extremely difficult with prolonged working hours, failures, salary less months, rejections from client, stagnation, delayed payments etc. but perseverance will matter a lot. There is no overnight success and it takes many years to build a brand and company. The support of family is exceptionally important to make you successful. It’s more important to have courage rather than business plans.

Often debated, I personally believe there is no right age of starting up, just take the plunge when your heart says. We have examples from college dropouts (Google, Apple, FB etc.) to people in 60s (KFC started at the age of 65 by Harland Sanders) building successful companies.

My advice to all the aspiring entrepreneurs is to never think of money right from day one, put your focus on building value for a client and solving a real pain problem. Money will definitely follow. Most importantly take the plunge, this will be one journey which is not going to be easy but definitely will be one to remember!

MESSAGE BOARD

It feels amazing to delve back into those two glorious years of my life at SITM, Lavale campus. Thoroughly enjoyed every second spent at the campus. 3rd June 2013 was my last working day at my previous organization and 4th June I was in SITM classroom. No transition period whatsoever. I wasn’t yet out from the “Corporate mode” when I opened the classroom door (when the class had already commenced) and walked in straight to an empty bench without permission! It’s a common sight at corporate training, isn’t it? In few seconds only it struck to me that the professor present there wasn’t that amused and I thought I should apologize. “Careful”, I told to myself “Welcome back to being a STUDENT!”

It definitely took me some time, but like everyone else, I too adjusted. Work to work of the MBA curriculum and the dynamic environment that it offered. But somewhere I always felt that the thrill and the excitement of handling real life situations were missing. I wanted to WORK and put to use the management lessons learnt in classroom! SITM provided ample opportunities to students like me who had the urge to contribute to SITM while pursuing their MBA. And Alumni Committee use to be my workplace. Handling (committee) work along with my academics was the biggest challenge I could have ever faced. I did not feel the need to learn Time Management lessons from anywhere outside. SITM taught me everything!

We all go through some life-changing experiences at some stage in our life. SITM was my life changer for sure. Ample opportunities to experiment and explore yourself, to make strong life-long bonds with batch-mates, to interact with best professors, to hang-out with your best friends, to create havoc in hostel, to experience the beautiful Lavale monsoon, the bus rides to city, and the list goes on. I will always be indebted to SITM for giving me some best buddies and also for making me who I am today. I will always look forward to any opportunity to serve SITM as a proud Alumnus. Thank you SITM!!

With an aim to achieve my dream of becoming independent in life, I entered the hallowed gates of SITM on June 03, 2013. Our lush campus sure blew my mind and I couldn’t have been happier thinking that I would spend two glorious and shaping years of my life in those poised hills. Having freshly graduated as an engineer, little did I know about the nuances of being in a professional environment! Being around so many experienced people was like an everyday challenge. I can say that I met some of the most intellectual yet grounded people and working with them for assignments or extra-curricular activities has been an inspiring delight.

Life at the college wasn’t all about fun and frolic. In fact, there were times I thought that our course was specially designed to inflict pain on the poor students. I shall never forget those days when we’d have classes from 8 in the morning along with three, (at times even four) exams during the day and still keep in mind that we had to wear formals ‘despite it being a Saturday’. Time Management is something that I feel SITM instils in each of its students’. Managing academics with co-curricular activities eventually became as simple as drinking a glass of water. Throughout the course of two years, SITM offered innumerable opportunities which I made use of to the best of my capacity. I entered as a meek introvert and came out as a confident and assertive individual.

As I now reflect back on the time that has passed, I can’t think of one thing about SITM that I do not miss. Be it the 2 am tea with my favourite buddies during exams (or marathons, as I usually addressed them), the crazy bike rides in chilly December evenings, or from working all night in the committee room to attending some really enriching lectures from the best of faculty; I simply miss it all. I feel proud to have been a part of such a prestigious institution that has helped me grow and evolve as an individual, ready to take on life as it comes. To say that it has helped me refine my personality would truly be an understatement.

For all that my revered college has taught me, I can only say Thank You SITM!!

Dr. Sujata Joshi, Professor, SITM was awarded the “Outstanding Faculty Award” by Centre for Advanced Research and Design.

Dr. Sujata Joshi is helping budding managers at SITM to build strong foundation of Telecom and mentor them continuously even in their corporate life.

Here is an article by Dr. Joshi onExploring the area of Digital Marketing

Digital marketing is undoubtedly one of the key buzzwords in business today. Unlike traditional forms of marketing, it involves strategies designed to engage consumers and drive brand conversation on various digital channels, ranging from email to mobile applications. Companies are starting to recognize the importance of getting digital and it is essential that marketing departments adapt quickly to the new circumstances and actively hire professionals in the field of digital marketing. Digital marketing is extremely important, not only because of its rapid growth but also because it is essentially the future of marketing. Soon all other traditional marketing forms will disappear as digital marketing will replace them altogether. Telecommunications players helped spawn the digital age, but today many lag behind the curve when it comes to fully exploiting digital channels and platforms to shape their marketing and sales strategies.

Keeping track of this new trend in marketing SITM has taken steps to ensure that students get exposure in this area. We plan to introduce Digital marketing subject in the course curriculum. Last academic year we had a panel discussion titled, “Digitalis” in which we discussed the current trends in the area of digital marketing. Two of our Alumni participated in this discussion, namely Priyanka Shah from Ogilvy and Mather, Jatin Madan from Hungama, and other participants like Chetan Bhagdia from ADP, Harshal Vaske from SourceHov, Anuj Joshi from Amazon, Rajeev Mahajan from Barclays who gave the students insights into this subject. As part of Essentials of Marketing subject , a half day workshop on digital and social media marketing was conducted by an expert in this domain from the company, “GC Interactive - ORM & Digital Media Company and Gaming Central”” - news, video and product review company in Gaming Space. The topic for his workshop was “Digital Marketing, Online Reputation Management (ORM) & How Brands are using Social Media to influence Purchase decisions”.

Here is what an SITM Aspirant, now a part of SITM Family has to say about SymConnect

I wanted to pursue MBA from a premier B-school and started some research on all top Business Schools in India. It turned out that SITM was one of the best and premier B-schools in the field of Telecom Management.

I attended SymConnect, SITM`s Aspirant Interaction Programme, where the Alumni and Students of SITM interact with the aspirants. It was a well-organized event by SITM students in Café Coffee Day, Bengaluru. The students were very friendly and received all the aspirants warmly. I was a little apprehensive, thinking that it’s completely related to students coming from a telecom background. My doubts were cleared when I attended SymConnect.

I met many aspirants there and had a healthy interaction with them. I also met many current students from SITM who are from diversified backgrounds like B.Com, BE Chemical, Biotech, etc. I was given complete information regarding the institute’s admissions, placements and they shared several success stories of the Alumni who have been doing exceptionally well in the industry. They gave a glimpse on the program structure offered and how the curriculum of MBA (TM) perfectly caters to the needs of radically changing ICT industry with several Value Added Programmes. An Alumnus present at the venue cleared most of our doubts. We were given tips on how to prepare for GDs and interviews.

SymConnect gave me a complete insight of Symbiosis Institute of Telecom Management. I made it through GD-PI-WAT and secured admission (2015-17) in the finest Telecom B-school of India.

I feel privileged to be a part of SITM today.

Yet another Experience from SymConnect

It was a warm welcome by SITM students at the Cafe Coffee Day. The ambience was adorable and the aspirants were greeted nicely. A booklet and pamphlet was provided which had all the necessary and first-hand information about SITM.

It started off with a video on SITM and its events. It depicted the presence of SITM in diversified domains of Academics, Sports, Social and cultural activities, B School competitions, Quizzes, Corporate affairs, International seminars and so on. This made me feel that there would be an all-round development of my personality if I get into SITM. The pictures depicted that the students believe there is no substitute to hard work.

There were questions regarding why to join Telecom business school instead of a generic MBA. The convincing answers given by the SITM students made me feel that I am on the right path and I decided to go ahead with my decision. I came to know that SITM is not only into Telecom but is more of ICT B-School. The future prospects of getting into a Telecom industry were well explained by them and my interest grew more for getting into this field. The overall presentation and professional environment created by the SITM students attracted me towards joining this institute....

SITM rocked....!!

STUDENT SPEAKThe new batch of 2015 commenced their journey at SITM just few months back!

Let us read what they have got to say about this time spent!

As I stepped on the campus of SITM for the very first time, I had a mixed bag of feelings. My calm exterior veiled a storm that was brewing within me. Stepping out of my comfort zone I had to be all by me in this alien land which looked promising but at the same time was very challenging. Located in the wilderness of lush green forests, revered around by peacocks and beautified by flowers of all kinds and away from the bustle of the city, the campus was glorified with the state-of-the art architecture. Still beautiful were the residents of the campus, who with open arms warmly welcomed us to Symbiosis family. To sum it up, I believe that SITM is not just one of the best niche schools India has but is also one of its kinds when it comes to etiquettes and sophistication.

It’s been a month since I am here at SITM, Lavale. I always thought I am missing something. Now, I think I am on the right way of exploring myself. I start my day with peacock’s early call, which acts as my daily alarm. Campus is always embraced by clouds. It feels enthusiastic when I get fresh air and see greenery everywhere. In college some lecturers are practical while some follow theoretical approach of teaching. But, everyone has their unique way, and I love the way lecturers deliver content. There is a proper balance between freedom and discipline. I feel like I am testing my limits here and exploring myself. It feels like home already.

VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKKAM...!! It’s been two months since I became a member of the Symbiosis family. With a bundle of expectations and a heavy heart I departed from home, away from my loved ones, with an aspiration to make a mark in the corporate world. Symbiosis has not only served as an apt interface between me and the corporate but it has ensured to give a “HOME AWAY FROM HOME.”. Situated amidst the lap of nature, it provides State of the art infrastructure and fully devoted teachers. Various activities on going with the curriculum make learning fun and easy to grasp the intricacies. I feel privileged to be a part of the esteemed Symbiosis family and will work towards contributing to the value of the institute. I also hope that Symbiosis will help me unleash my potential.

As I started my voyage to the best Telecom B-School in India and stepped in the mesmerizing Lavale campus for the first time, I felt that I have entered in the nature’s own country. We were assured that Symbiosis is home away from home and we have experienced it every day! The understanding faculty, cordial and helpful seniors and the great learning environment at SITM, all here is so great! My eyes lit with the range of extracurricular activities that the campus has offered to us .With just two months in the system I already feel part of the Symbiosis family and I am looking forward to two years ahead!

The first day eyes were numb, heart beats were uneven! Wait, I was already in SITM! Never had I thought of pursuing MBA in such an awestruck campus. From squawks of peacocks to the thundering of the clouds, everything took that sadness (of being away from home) out of me. Hostel life, what a feeling! Mess food, got me imbued. Wishing for halcyon days ahead!

I was one of the last students to join SITM. When I reached the campus, I was very nervous, having no idea about the kind of people I would encounter; also, if I would be able to cope up with the pressure related to academics or other activities that this college had to offer. But when I spoke to people here, they were very friendly. People from different backgrounds, coming together under one roof; to me, that is SITM! The faculty is the most amazing that I have ever encountered. As days passed, getting to know more about the institute, I felt like being a part of it. In less than a month’s span a complete blend of cultural extravaganza and social responsibility aspect was showcased by the various events. Finally, I can very well say that the anxiety that was hidden in me has now been converted into a feel of confidence, all credit to this wonderful institution called SITM.

BLOOD DONATION DRIVE 2015“Even you are someone’s Type!!!”

We, at SITM, believe in the holistic augmentation of every entity present in our domain and beyond. With that aspiration kept firmly in mind, we at SITM, had organized ‘Blood Donation Drive 2015’. This initiative was one of the many social initiatives taken up by the SPARSH, the ISR Arm of SITM. To widen the horizon regarding this initiative and to maximize participation, the organizers had come up with an ingenious approach. One day previous to the main event, a ‘Flash Mob’ had been arranged. This spectacle involved a large public gathering at which people performed an unusual or seemingly random dance. This can be considered analogous to a trailer preceding the actual movie. The main objective behind this Flash Mob was to create awareness and stimulus regarding the Blood Donation Drive. As contemplated, the Blood Donation Drive received participation in great numbers, the Flash Mob was a huge success and countless lives were saved in the process.
