Foreword
This selection of dances has been made to provide teachers, dancers and programme de-visers with structured lists of RSCDS dances at three different levels: Basic, Intermediateand Experienced. Each entry lists the name of the dance, the number of bars per repeti-tion, the set shape and number of couples required, and the RSCDS source. It also givesthe name of the suggested tune for the dance.
The selections are not intended as definitive lists of the best or most popular dances,however they bring together a variety in formations, tempos and complexity suitable forall levels of dancer. Additionally they provide a suggested learning progression suitablefor those starting Scottish country dancing.
With dances taken from RSCDS books 1 to 49, leaflets and graded books, this repertoireshows the variety found in our published material – as well as giving a reminder of thosedances that we may have forgotten.
