Only premium plantat ion grown teak is used for Gloster furn i ture and, whi le teak t rees are not indigenous to Indonesia, c l imat ic condi t ions

on Java are ideal for growing th is species of t ree.

Teak was or ig ina l ly int roduced to the is lands by Buddhist monks, some 700 years ago. When the Dutch co lon ised Indones ia in the 19th Century, they soon rea l ised the opportuni ty to establ ish large p lantat ions and introduced the susta inable p lantat ion management

systems that are st i l l in use today.

Gloster ’s product ion of teak is character ised by our approach. We understand our resources and we know our wood. We only harvest what we have p lanted ourse lves, and every t ree that is fe l led was placed in the soi l by th i rd to fourth generat ion teak graders whom we have known for a l i fet ime. A Gloster teak t ree has a l i fecycle of at least 50 years - and our wood can a lways be t raced back to i ts or ig in. We bel ieve that our customers must be able to t rust us, so we treat the wor ld, i ts resources and i ts people wi th respect. This is

But atmosphere a lso buzzes with chatter and laughter and dancing l ight - the

sound of good t imes amongst fami ly and f r iends.

For the new Gloster Atmosphere col lect ion, Danish designer Ceci l ie Manz has drawn from observing couples, groups, f r iends and fami l ies interact ing in seat ing areas - s l id ing down low in comfortable furn i ture, tucking up legs, rest ing s ide by s ide as

stor ies are to ld and moments are shared.

“This is why i t fe l t natura l” Ceci l ie says, “ to lower the whole sett ing, to enhance and welcome th is fee l ing of comfort and quiet - when you wish to have s l ight ly more re laxed moments, even a few cent imetres in height makes a s igni f icant di fference. S i t t ing lower pu l ls you in to a fami l ia r, sooth ing embrace -

welcoming you to unwind and stay longer.”

Ceci l ie has intui t ive ly embraced the emotions behind the design in a powerfu l mixture of min imal , powder coated a lumin ium frames, generous boards of Gloster’s s ignature teak and clever ly

designed sel f -support ing upholstered panels.

Cec i l ie says “The mater ia ls in a pro ject shou ld re f lect the usage of the p ieces. A lumin ium and teak are great mater ia ls for outdoor spaces, the f in ish of the meta l is robust, and the sol id teak gets a beaut i fu l grey pat ina over t ime. Combined with the fabr ic opt ions, the palet te is subt le and harmonious,

revolv ing around muted, sophist icated tones.

When asked i f she can summarise her col lect ion Ceci l ie smi les before answer ing; “ I t ’s qu i te s imple rea l ly… the name is a ref lect ion of the s i tuat ion. I t ’s a l l about creat ing atmosphere.”

Broad hor izontal l ines and assert ive angles combine to form the bold, indulgent prof i le of Loop. But Loop isn’t just about f i rst impressions. Look c loser and deta i ls can be found that further emphasise Gloster ’s reputat ion for qual i ty and design. Subt le curves add a level of sophist icat ion. Back straps are del iberately wide to uni te mater ia ls used. And the junct ion between strap and teak is proudly d isplayed, creat ing a conf ident l ine that

fur ther uni tes a l l seat ing opt ions.

Loop was conceived by Henr ik Pedersen with the purpose of creat ing a col lect ion that would stand out in any space. As the name suggests, Loop’s iconic l ines were f i rst drawn with the not ion that they would cross design boundar ies. S imple and ever popular Scandinav ian nuances g ive way to c lever ly integrated comfort . A var iety of seat ing and occasional table opt ions offer far more than Loops simple f i rst impressions imply.

The Danish designer says “Loop is Loop for so many reasons - to me and perhaps to others i t represents a c i rc le in design - look ing back to sty les that have come before but moving on, a l l at once. Then of course the mater ia ls are physica l ly a

loop for st ructure.“

The corrosion res istance of Gloster’s a luminium furn i ture is enhanced by pre-treat ing the a lumin ium extrus ions with a chrome convers ion coat ing that depos i ts a th in layer o f chrome on the sur face. The treated frame is subsequent ly coated with an electro-stat ical ly appl ied, powder coat f in ish. The e lectro-stat ic appl icat ion method ensures 100% coverage of the metal ’s surface area and provides a consistency and tough f in ish that far exceeds other convent ional pa int f in ishes. The resu l t ing f in ish is knock and scratch res istant , imperv ious to

moisture, h ighly res istant to corros ion and easy to c lean.
