The festival of Dussehra symbolizes victory of goodover evil. After Dussehra, follows the pious festivalof Diwali. All the ceremonies performed on or before

the day of Diwali, indicate the sacred faith that after thedarkness of ignorance has ended and complete purity hasbeen attained, Shri Lakshmi, the revered Goddess, visitsthis sacred land of Bharat.

Just as the prayers offered on the day of Janmashtami forthe reincarnation of God – Sermoniser of Gita at the presenttime of irreligiousness are the proof that the God-Sermoniseractually incarnated, the invocation offered for Shri Lakshmion the day of Diwali also are a sure proof that she actuallyruled Bharat in the past and that, during her reign andafterwards, peace and prosperity actually prevailed becausethe souls of the Deities who took bodies in that epoch, hadattained purity and enlightenment in their preceding lifeand got absoluteness on account of their past actions andhad, therefore, taken new body (call it the dress of the soul).

history, as it is available in the human hands today, throwsno light as to how the Swarajya (sovereign) of Shri Lakshmiand Shri Narayan, thousands of whose images areworshipped here, was established. Today, the biographiesof Shri Sita and Shri Ram of Tretayuga are taught in Indianschools but the books of Shri Lakshmi and Shri Narayanwho preceded Shri Sita and Shri Ram, are not available. Isit not a matter of great surprise to the dignitaries and themasses alike, that even when lacs of images and idols ofShri Lakshmi and Shri Narayan are daily worshipped, theydo not know the biography of these deities?

If people and their leaders, Mahatma Gandhi, for example,knew these deities, they would have aspired for ShriLakshmi and Shri Narayan’s Rajya more than that of ShriRam and Shri Sita because while the latter was characterisedby fourteen celestial degrees, the former were deitiesvirtuous to the pitch of sixteen celestial degrees complete.

A couple of weeks backthe world was oncourse of a massive

head-on collision, howeverwiser counsel prevailedamongst the leaders of Russia,China, USA, England andFrance, who are key players inthe UN Security Council. Theyall agreed to persuade Syria towithdraw and destroy anymissiles carrying chemicalweapons. As Russia played avery pivotal role in thesenegotiations especially, MrVladimir Putin is beingnominated for the Nobel PeacePrize for 2014 for “activelypromoting settlement of allconflicts arising on theplanet.”

These are good signs thatpeople have significant valuefor peace in theirconsciousness than one couldimagine. At the present time,the search for peace is so deep-rooted and consistent acrossraces, religions, genders andage groups, that it re-affirmsthe innate need of humanbeings to live by, interact withand share peace. This alone

builds the foundation for acalm mind, decisive intellectand pure sanskars (personalitytraits). The more peaceful themind, the more powerful arethe thoughts created for theself, and more positivethoughts for souls around us.This forms the basis for serviceon a subtle level as serenevibrations are dissipated whichcan influence the exclusiveminds of those holding highpositions in governments allaround the globe. This willdefinitely lead to globalharmony which is the need ofthe hour.

To speeden up the processof creating peace and harmonyin the world, may humanity atlarge be guided by God’swisdom. God’s wisdom is themost valuable available adviceat this time of the cycle whenHe descends to guidehumanity on the path ofrighteousness, peace andharmony.

He said this while launchingthe “All India Ahimsa ParamoDharma AwarenessCampaign” jointly beingstarted by the BrahmaKumaris institution andvarious inter-faith groups, fromRastrapati Bhavan here today.He commended the efforts ofthe Brahma Kumaris andvarious interfaith leaders fortaking such noble initiative ofsensitizing people andmobilizing collective supportagainst violence in all forms.

proficient in using theknowledge to dispel darknessand bring light in our life andspeaking with that authority ofexperience. It is whenknowledge is spoken on thebasis of experience that othersunderstand the truth. We mustask ourselves: is there still thedarkness of worry andconfusion in our lives? Actually, what can I possiblybe worried or confused aboutnow? The method to removeworry is to become a well-wisher for all and thus stopusing the mind and wastingour time thinking about thingsin the wrong way.

The cause of all sort ofnegative and waste thinking isthat sorrow is hidden deepinside and it emerges in theform of wrong thoughts. It isnot a big thing to let go ofharmful food and drinkinghabits but the habit of giving

and taking sorrow are stuck inthe soul. Now check: ‘Am Itaking sorrow from anyone?’If I take sorrow, I will need tothink a lot. As a result, bothmy body and mind willsuffer. If I takesorrow, I will definitely wantto give it back to someone.When I speak about what hashappened, there will bebitterness rather thansweetness in my voice. Once Iopen and walk through thedoor of taking sorrow, it isdifficult to go back.

Celebration of TrueDiwali

Now, celebrate the trueDiwali by finishing sorrowand pledging to remain happy.Check that there is no trace ofsorrow lurking anywhereinside me. If we keepallowing sorrow in our lives,it is as if we get flooded withbetter memories and the lightsgo out. Things will come;there will be storms—ups anddowns but it must be

remembered that God Shiva(Shiv Baba) has told me toremain detached and to keepHim as my companion. Weneed to remain beyondnegativity, immune towhatever happens; an observerof the drama and of all thesouls playing their parts in it.If I become influenced orfluctuate, I will not be able toremain a detached observer. We also need to keep checking ourdrishti (vision) and attitude. God hasshown us the contrast between havinga degraded intellect and pure and cleanintellect—one which does not thinkwastefully. So, I must deeplyunderstand every aspect of the EternalWorld Drama and in this way I needto keep my line clear. I need toaccumulate so much power that I amable to silence the minds of others.People could not speak of anythingnegative in front of Brahma Baba. If Ikeep my mind pure, I will surely feelGod’s power. There needs to be a lotof discipline within the self to controlthe senses and to become victoriousover them.

None wants to miss out on theopportunity to create his or her fortune.Therefore, great care must be takenthat we do not lose out in any waythrough our own carelessness. I mustremain aware, for it is in my ownhands to create my fortune. One maybe sweeping the floor but one needsto ask oneself: who am I doing thisfor? However, one may be doing greatservice but if one thinks about peoplein the wrong way or speaks harshly tothem, one loses everything. Our mainduty is to smile and be present forservice. It is the power of love andco-operation that brings success inservice. This is a family; all are mysoul brothers and sisters; this must bethe vision. Deepavali or Diwali,popularly known asthe “festival of

lights,” is a five-day Hindu festival whichstarts on Dhanteras, celebratedon the thirteenth lunar day ofKrishna paksha (darkfortnight) of the HinduCalendar month Ashwin andends on Bhaidooj, celebratedon second lunar day of Shuklapaksha of the Hindu calendarmonth Kartik. Dhanteras usuallyfalls eighteen daysafter Dussehra.

No other festival unites theIndians around the world, asdoes Deepavali. A single diyaor earthen lamp holds infinitebeauty and hope. While wecelebrate these auspiciousdays with the same grandeuras seen in the past, the purebeliefs held by our ancestorswere more enlightening.Deepavali or Diwali is acelebration of victory of goodover evil and the coming of aNew Year. But if we probefurther, what is this darknesswe want to remove? In reality,evil or darkness has no identityof its own – it exists due to lack

of goodness or light.Knowledge, power and all thatis pure–are our very realcharacteristics, since they arepart of us, perhaps dormant yetexisting. The Festival ofLights, incidentally seen inevery culture, is the fightagainst evil forces and creationof peace and happiness.Diwali conjures up a numberof things in the mind’s eye-–sweets, new clothes, newaccounts books, GoddessLakshmi, earthen lamps,fireworks etc.

We begin with Dhanamyo-dashi, where families worshipDhanvantari, a specialayurvedic herb said to cure aperson of all illnesses. Asscience also proves, about98% of all diseases arepsychosomatic, meaning theirproblem lies in the mind. Withtime and circumstances,human beings have lost a greatdegree of their inner power,thus making them vulnerableto attacks from the vices (lust,anger, greed, attachment andego). The weak mind hasaffected the body also butwhen we take the medicine of

spiritual knowledge,prescribed by the UltimateDoctor, i.e., God, we can cureboth mind and body.

The second day is cel-ebrated as Nark-Chaturdashi.Spiritual Knowledge aboutSelf-realisation, God-realisation etc. can only betaught by The Supreme.Diwali, the tradition of light-ing diyas, actually describeshow the Supreme Light comesto re-ignite our awareness ofbeing points of energy or souls.This knowledge is used toovercome the foreign elementsof vices. In memorial of theseefforts, we have the story ofNarkasur , the destroying evil.

The third day is spent ininvoking Goddess Lakshmi.Today, we have unfortunatelylowered the status of LakshmiDevi to that of a banker. Inreality, her name stems fromthe word, ‘Lakshya’ meaning‘the goal’, implying that shestands for the ultimate goal ofperfection that the humanbeings can reach. The ‘wealth’that she has to offer is ofknowledge and virtues; adivine character alone canattain prosperity (material andotherwise) and peace. Homesare cleaned thoroughly in herhonour, but we forget that aclean mind and intellect arethe easiest way to attract her.

lamp that shouldn’t go off. Itshould be lit throughout thenight, likewise knowledge/awakening that we receiveabout who we are, shouldalways be lit. We are beings oflight (Atma). In order to keepthis light burning, we keepadding oil, that is, theknowledge we receive fromthe Supreme. On our journeyof life, we come in contactwith others and perform ourroles which bring us into body-consciousness. By listening tospiritual knowledge every day,we once again remindourselves of our true identityso that we remain on rightpath.

The houses that we live inare the same old houses, butpeople tend to renovate orpaint them just beforeDeepavali. They buy newclothes, crockery etc. This is asymbol of the new age that isabout to come where nothingof this old world-order willremain; everything will benew.

The world will be new,nature will be pure, and ourbody will be perfect.

As soon as I light the lightwithin me, there will becleanliness, there will betransformation within us ofour sanskars and thenautomatically, our

relationships with others willalso get transformed for thebetter. When relationshipsbecome better, it means byenlightening my inner light, Ihave ignited the light of otherstoo.

Goddess Lakshmi is knownas the goddess of wealth.Wealth of knowledge bringsphysical wealth also. If we fillourselves with knowledge, wewill attain success. We willbecome contended, satisfied.Our relationships with otherswill be good and this way wewill be successful in ourcareers also.

Cleaning up our homes inorder to invoke GoddessLakshmi is to clear our mindsand intellects so that theknowledge of wealthautomatically comes in and theworld becomes a perfect place.

Whilst performing ritualsduring this auspiciousoccasion, we should keep ourmind and intellect clean andpure. Remain in connectionwith the Supreme Being. Bybeing connected to the Oceanof Purity, it becomes easier forus to be pure.

We always draw theSwastika symbol when we areabout to do our prayers. It isalways divided into four equalparts which symbolize the fourages that the world cycle

undergoes (Golden, Silver,Copper and Iron), i.e., Satyug,Tretayug, Dwapuryug andKaliyug. Swa means ‘myown’; Sthiti means stage. Ourstage at this time is depletedbecause we are at the end ofKaliyug or Iron Age. TheSwastika is also a sign of thedestroyer of obstacles. We canbecome once again what wewere because when you are inthe awareness of your true self,no obstacles can come in yourway.

During this festival, we alsoexchange gifts. The best giftwe can give is to share theknowledge we have attainedtoday. All other materialisticgifts get perished or forgottenbut knowledge, when sharedwith others, helps to transformand that is the most preciousgift one can give.

Families get together andcelebrate this occasion. Theyharmonize their relationships.They forgive and forget. Thereis excitement and enthusiasmof newness.

Moving to the fourth day ofBalipratipada, we see successat every step when wemaintain connection with theSupreme Soul. In spirituality,this is symbolic of yoga orunion. When I visualise myselfas a point of light, and thendirect my intellect and


thoughts to the Supreme Parent, Iexperience God’s power and love.This power helps me fightweaknesses and inculcate virtues.

The beautiful process of gainingknowledge, overcoming vices,cleaning the intellect andremembering the Supreme Beingleads us to appreciate the fifth day,Bhaiyadooj or Bhaidooj. Theknowledge of the ‘soul’ frees us fromstereotypes and prejudices based onreligion, caste, colour, gender andage. We then see every individual asbeing a child of God and so part ofmy spiritual family– the ultimatetruth.

Sweets (maintaining lovingrelationships), new clothes(discarding everything old, as oldsanskars etc.), new accounts books(settling karmic accounts), fireworks(burning the evil off) and otherinteresting rituals prepare usspiritually for the New Year or Age.The darkness of ignorance cannotstay for long; our deep desire tocreate a world of happiness willbecome a reality. The key lies inlighting a single ‘diya’–my ownspiritual awareness–and then….

‘Jyot se Jyot Jagaate chalo, Premki Ganga Bahaate chalo…’ One lightenlightens many others and then theriver of love starts flowing.

So, on this Deepavali, let us be‘LIGHT’.

Baba is the ocean ofbliss and knowledge.As this soul attempts

to share his beautifulexperiences in the Company ofthe Lord, he finds himselfincapable of uttering even asingle word. One sits,wondering how the great poetsand writers could so fluentlysing His glory in the throes ofdevotion. I remember God’sinfinite grace and a tiny teardrop silently leaves my eyes,to join the waves of joy in Hislap.

Thank You, Thank You,Thank You! This is one phrasethat I can confidently andcontinuously express.

It is said that if you believewith determination, then theBelief turns to Trust; as onetrusts the almighty, then heopens himself to Experience;once a soul has experience,then he knows. He no longerneeds to believe, but becomesKnowledgeful. The only wayyou can share my experienceof Baba is to experience ityourself. There is a lovelyword in Hindi, ‘Anubhuti’,which means cognition,

perception or realisation! Aswe play the game of lifethrough our mind and intellect,we go through many stages–Imagination, Visualisation andRealisation. Imagination iswhere we create somethingfictitious, which does notexist; Visualisation is one stepfurther, where we bringsomething before our eyes, adeeper stage of experience;Realisation is where webecome fully aware ofsomething as a fact, live it. Ihave come to understand thatRajyoga is the only way onecan see and realise God, theTruth and oneself.

I had lived a large part of mylife searching for God intemples and scriptures,chanting mantras andperforming elaborate rituals inthe hope that one day his gracewould shower on me. Itravelled to several pilgrimageplaces, waiting in long queuesfor a darshan of the templedeity. Somehow, there wasalways this feeling, as I wentthrough the ups and downs oflife, that there was someonewho was taking care of me all

the time, who was watchingme, guiding me, even before Istarted following the BrahmaKumaris. In the midst of adifficult career path and duringdeath of family members,situations cropped up which Icould neither understand norhandle … there was a silenthand around my shoulders, acalming presence makingitself present whenever I wasalone. Now I know it was myBaba, who was always withme and was smiling at thislong lost child who waswandering in ignorance.

It was in 2008, when I wasworking for a softwareCompany in Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh, India, awayfrom my family which was inVisakhapatnam (or Vizag). Istayed in an Executive Hostelwith other forced Bachelorsand visited home once everymonth. But due to problems atwork and being away from myfamily, I used to be somewhatquiet. One morning, as I wasdoing some yog-asanas, a co-hosteller, Devanand suggestedthat I learn Rajyoga at a nearbyCentre and gave me directions,mentioning that I wouldbenefit from it. That evening,I walked into the NagarjunaManagement Centre,Panjagutta, Hyderabad andregistered myself for a lifechanging experience! After

completing the Seven-Daycourse, I used to spend a lot oftime meditating. Soon, Istarted visiting the centre, bothin the morning and evening.

One evening, it was rainingheavily and I was waiting atmy hostel gate to go to theCentre. In a lighter vein, Ithought that if Baba wantedme to come to Him, He wouldmake the necessary arrange-ments. Within a minute or so,another co-hosteller who tookGyan a few days ago, camedown with an umbrella andasked me if I wouldaccompany him to the Centre.I was astounded and walked allthe way singing praises ofBaba and His unfathomablelove for His children.

Another day, at home inVizag, I mentioned about theBrahma Kumaris organisationto my better half and startedgiving her the introduction ofParamdham, our sweet homeand Baba. Strangely, as I wasspeaking, she closed her eyesand went into a deep trance.She later said that she couldactually feel that she was thereand experienced a sense oftranquility. Shortly thereafter,she took the course in theMaharanipeta Centre, Vizag.and became Baba’s child. Thiswas a great boon for me, as itis very necessary that husband

and wife both follow thisknowledge, if they wish tohave perfect harmony in thefamily. Otherwise they facecertain challenges, if one ofthem continues to be in loukikway of life. Baba had blessedus to take up the Rajyoga pathtogether and benefit from it.Moreover, our two sons alsostarted taking keen interest inspiritual study.

After another few months, Iwas at a crossroads in my ca-reer and had to take a decisionregarding my employment. (Iam a Company Secretary, aprofessional qualification, spe-cializing in Corporate Laws,which can be used to take upeither employment or prac-tice). As I placed my problembefore Baba and sat in medi-tation, I felt a direction to quitmy job and take up indepen-dent practice. I immediatelyresigned from my job and re-turned to my loukik family inVisakhapatnam. My parents,wife and children were pleasedto see me back with them. ByBaba’s grace, I have been ren-dering consultancy services toCorporate Clients for morethan four years and have al-ways been contented in everypossible way. I also find timeto do spiritual service, sincemy timings are flexible, beingin independent practice, re-

porting to Baba and no oneelse.

I have illustrated above afew instances where Baba hashelped me, in organizing mypersonal, domestic andprofessional life in an effectivemanner. But, once a soulbecomes Baba’s adoptedchild, a Brahma Kumar or aBrahma Kumari, the benefitswhich it reaps are multimillionfold and cannot be expressedor explained in detail. Everymoment of the day, there aresubtle signs, gentle hints andcaring nudges from Baba,guiding us, directing us andsupporting us in our journey tomake ourselves perfect. Whenwe become his children, thenalong with Baba, even dramabecomes our friend and helpsus. Favourable situations startdeveloping around us, the vastBrahmin family starts givingus blessings and co-operation,life becomes simpler andeasier. We slow down,become quiet and relax intothe silence that is our originalstate of being. Our naturalstage emerges, just like watersettles down at the bottom ofthe mountain, we stop runningand become restful, we comehome to our beloved Father,we start transforming intodivine deities, creating heavenon earth … Om Shanti.


It was the end of the year2007 as I faced achallenging period on my

personal front. The world wasawaiting a New Year but myworld had almost come downcrashing. My dreams,aspirations and hard work hadall gone down the drain. Someof my so-called dear ones hadleft me stranded in the middleof my life. I was inconsolableso I visited Siddi Vinayaktemple in Mumbai on mybirthday, which I had beendoing every year. I had not lostfaith in God but I was not happywith Him either.

During those days, I keptcalling Him and questioned:Why did you do this to me?Why is this world so full ofsorrow? Why are we happy onlysometimes? In my prayers, Ieven told Him with fullauthority that this is not theworld that I want to progress in;you either make a better worldor show me an exit door fromthis planet.

Believe me, He came!!During that period, I cameacross a programme‘Awakening with BrahmaKumaris’ on Television. I heard,in the programme, a story that

we are like children who havecome to play our roles in thisdrama of life. Initially, we enjoyit as a game but as the dayprogresses, we get tired, hurtand become dirty (vicious).Then we go back home to ourSupreme Parent, who love us,clean us up and again in themorning we are back in thegame. The child here is thesoul whose original home isSoul World and whose eternalparent is GOD. I couldimmediately relate to the storyand this instilled in me somestrength to move on.

I started the Seven-DayRajyoga course at BrahmaKumaris centre in March 2008and completed it on the Holifestival celebrations. Thereafter,I began watching the programmeregularly on television, though Icould not attend regular sessionsat the centre. Fortunately, in May2010, I was transferred to a placenear my home which is also veryclose to the Brahma Kumariscentre in Chembur. There Istarted visiting them regularlywhile returning from my office.

Earlier, I did not understandmuch, but soon I found peaceand stability returning in mylife. I experienced that even

when I did not wish to attendthe classes, some energy wouldpull me to drive to the centre tolisten to Godly versions, calledmurli (Flute of Knowledge). Inever missed the murli and alsogot engaged with some smallGodly service and attendedvarious BK programmes.Slowly, I started getting myspecific answers in murlis andgot to know the deepest secretsof life.

The turning point came whenI visited Mt. Abu, theInternational Headquarters ofBrahma Kumaris. I was amidstthe ocean of knowledge andlove. Everyone had only oneword in their heart and on theirlips – BABA (God Shiva).Somewhere I knew I belong tothis divine family. My life hasstarted blossoming as I havefound a gateway to the newworld, instead of exit.

Since my early childhooddays, I have always beensurrounded by Brah-

mins. Our neighbours andfriends were all from Brahminfamilies. So, naturally I had avery strong inclination to-wards their rituals and cus-toms. As a child, I liked learn-ing shlokas and worshippingdeities; lord Ganesh was myfavourite deity. I loved every-thing about Brahmin priests(Purohits)–the way theydressed, their hair, their tilakand the way they chanted themantras. I secretly yearned tobecome like them but wouldbe disappointed, realising thatI was a girl, though I neverspoke about it in the open as Ithought everybody wouldmake fun of me.

My family wanted me to bea doctor as my father was adoctor. I fulfilled their wishesand became a dentist. But thatdream of being with Almightyalways remained with me. Thestories of Meerabai andAkkamaha Devi would inspireme to be like one of them.

WHAT ATTRACTED METO BABA’S LOVE!

However, I was not sure howto do it. But so it happened thatthe mother of one of myfriends was an ardent followerof Shiv Baba and His Shrimatin spite of all the hardships intheir family. Since I was veryclose to her daughter, most ofthe time I was at their home.One day, her motherintroduced me to the trueknowledge of God Shiva, i.e.Shiv Baba and told me thetruth about my true self – ‘I ama soul, not this costume calledbody’. She spoke of how thesoul leaves the body afterdeath and it is eternal. Thisstruck a chord with meinstantly.

I earnestly undertook theformal study of the divineKnowledge. My friendshowed me the book ‘One-Week Course’; therein was apicture of Sri Krishna sailingwith people in one boat andBrahma Baba with a fewothers in white dress in anotherboat. She asked me to pick upone. As I thought Krishna tobe the Lord, I picked him. My

friend laughed and told me thatI would not be able to come toheaven. This disturbed me alot and made me think what sinI had committed for notbecoming eligible for heaven.Her mother later explainedthat if we followed what ShivBaba tells us, we would all beable to come to heaven. Thishad a lasting impression on myyoung mind.

Since I was very close tothem, sometimes I would stayovernight with them. Hermother would wake up forAmritvela, sit in Baba’s roomand do Yoga while all otherswould be asleep. I would alsosneak into the Meditationroom and sit for yoga alongwith her. While meditating, Iwould always feel as if I wasin the cradle of Almighty. Iwould chat with Him aboutanything and everything, justlike one speaks to a friend.From then on, He has been mydearest and most beloved andmost trusted Friend andCompanion from whom I hidenothing.

Whenever I sit with Baba, Iforget about this world and itspain, agony and distress. I findmyself in a world of divinepeace, serenity, innocent loveand happiness— a feelingwhich cannot be explained inwords. One needs toexperience it. The visits to the

There is a feelingof assurance that someone isnear you, sitting and watchingover you. There is also a senseof security that nothing canharm or hurt you. There is thatfeeling of loving comfort. Justas the child ‘smells’ themother’s natural loving andcaring fragrance, similarly,when you make thatconnection with God, you feelcompletely carefree as all thetroubles of the world havegone.

LOVE–a primaryemotion–has beenvariously defined by

many. A small child, when itdevelops some understanding,often hears this word. So, weall use the word ‘love’ withdifferent connotationswhenever we use it.

It is quite difficult to definelove clearly. Some confuse itwith infatuation or lust.Philosophers have expressedlove as an action orexperienced it as a feeling.Love encompasses Kindness,respect tolerance, enduranceand understanding. But mostof us love others because weexpect something in returnfrom them. Today, most of therelationships are based on thisinterpretation of love. This isconditional love, which saysthat our expectations are notfulfilled or reciprocated andthen we will stop loving.

However, true love isunconditional. True love issomething from which you donot expect anything in return.It is when you give without anyintention of receiving in

return. If you cannot loveanother person withoutattaching conditions thisamounts to “emotionalbribery.” You are not talkingabout love at all; you’retalking about a transaction.

COMPASSION–anotherprimary emotion has also beenunderstood differently and,therefore, defined differently.Compassion involves feelingmoved by others’ suffering sothat your heart responds totheir pain. The wordcompassion literally means to“suffer with”. When thisoccurs, you feel warmth,caring, and the desire to helpthe suffering person in someway.

According to Buddhistconcept, compassion is a stateof mind that is motivated byvaluing other human beingsand wishing to release themfrom their sufferings.Although we already havesome degree of compassion, atpresent it is very biased andlimited. When our family andfriends are suffering, we easilydevelop compassion for them

but we find it far more difficultto feel compassion for peoplewe find unpleasant or for thestrangers.

The two primary emotionsLove and Compassion areinterlinked with each other.Love always carriescompassion with it andcompassion finds expressionwhen someone you loveundergoes a suffering. Theyare basically inherent in ournature but we find it difficultto practice them in life. If youhave love and compassiontowards all sentient beings,particularly towards yourenemy, this is true love andcompassion.

To practice love andcompassion we can follow

the following tips – First of all, try to cultivategood thoughts for others,especially for those whomwe dislike. Fill the heartwith the warmth of Goodfeeling, that of Mercy andForgiveness, and let go allthe past bitterness, we canalso connect to God, theAlmighty Power, who is aninexhaustible source ofdivine energy. During ourdaily meditation, we can tapinto His source of love andcompassion. The AlmightyPower will be readilywilling to feel us with Hispowers and virtues.

To maintainthis gift of unconditionallove, we should connect theself to a source of higherpower, God, to replenish themind and heart with feelingsof love and compassion.Always remember that TheAlmighty God never ceasesto offer us His love Hismercy His compassion andso we should follow Him.

compassion –The practice of love and

compassion is a road tohappiness. If one gives loveand compassion to a person,one gets it back manifold.When we share feelings oflove and compassion, first ofall we create happiness and joywithin us.

When we develop the self-awareness we are able tocultivate self-responsibility,i.e., we have the choice tochoose the emotion that weexpress in each moment of ourlives. When we have this levelof self-awareness, the obviouschoice is to express lovebecause it is our basic nature.

It means that we can sit in aplace of utter chaos, with thewhole drama revolving aroundus, and yet not lose our peaceand happiness. We create lovethrough our thoughts, wordsand actions.

If we limit the expression oflove and goodness, we limitthe happiness and joy in ourlife. Being aware that wecreate our feelings andthoughts bring is a big shift inour lives as it helps us toachieve a natural state of self-mastery. There are nounnecessary thoughts – onlythoughts of love, peace andcompassion.

The drop-outrate is immense as thequalifications and dedicationneeded to complete themission is also immense.

Few have enough truth andcourage within themselves thatenables them to put down alltheir baggage and climb upGod’s ladder and claim a seaton His rocket to the stars -which later lands in heaven.

It’s not an easy task to fly tothese stars as you have to leaveall your baggage behind which

includes everything you haveever owned, and that includeschildren, spouse, your bodyand of course, your walletwhich out of everything shouldbe the easiest possession toforget and leave behind yet formost is one of the hardest.Leaving your body, yourhabits, your family, yourdesires and old ways behindyou is proving very unpopularand an impossible task as it’sfar too demanding for mostsouls as they have had them forso long and have grown muchattached to them.

The majority prefer a shortjourney down to the localsupermarket and bank everyday. They have a limitedvision of life and so live in alimited world. God has madea rocket for them and it is onthe launch pad and is tickingdown to blast off with thedoor open and ladder downfor them to climb onboard theship. Yet most are too busy orjust not bothered to make theeffort to climb up and steponboard. For many it’sproving to be either too big astep into the unknown and arelacking the ability and truthto let go of falsehood or theydo not have the spiritualitynecessary to enter God‘srocket and take a seat to thestars.

Are you corrosive – andexplosive?

Most people simply do nothave the wisdom, foresight,insight or courage to fly intospace and so find it mucheasier to run away fromboarding the ship with oneexcuse or another. As is oftenthe reason, they cannot let goof their worldly baggage andfeel they have to cling on to it.They feel secure with the oldat hand but do not realise it’sthis old baggage that is leadingthem further down hell’sdriveway. Withoutseeing Him or theirdestination or having a clearpicture or under-standing ofwhere actually they aregoing, for most it is a case ofsticking to the familiar andwhat they know and can see– that is this world. They canonly live by their two eyesand do not have the braveryor the love for truth to allowtheir third eye to open andguide them on an unknownjourney into the stars of thefuture.

God Shiva is the Ocean ofknowledge. He is Truth andwhatever he says is true.Nevertheless he asks uschildren to churn theknowledge. It’s because, if wejust simply listen toknowledge we won’t be ableto inculcate the knowledge. Itis only when we churn GodlyKnowledge; we can realize itto be true. It is only when wechurn His Knowledge that weget convinced with whateverHe says. And that is when it ispossible to inculcate theknowledge. Say for example,Shiv Baba advises us to doearly morning meditation.When I introspect on this thenonly I understand the benefitsof amritvela, i.e. Nectar Timeis the time when there is nodisturbance, when theatmosphere is completelypeaceful; hence connecting toBaba becomes easy. Oncewhen we get convinced withthis, we start making effort toget up in the morning andmake complete use of the time.

In the laukik life also, wecannot obtain 1st rank just bystudying for a few hours.Similarly, if just by doingpurusharth or making effortstowards the end, we canbecome a king then why thelife span of the ConfluenceAge is of 100 years? Mamma

In the worldly studies, theone who pays attentiontowards them is able toidentify the questions that areexpected in the test paper andhence pay more attentiontowards those questions.Similarly, in the aloukik lifealso the one who studiesregularly is able to identify thequalities that are required tobecome a king and pay moreattention towards inculcating

those qualities. The followingare the qualities of a king:

1. An ideal King is the onewho is always seated on thethrone. As long as he is seton the throne, He isconsidered very powerful;hence his order is listenedto and brought into action.Just like when a Ministerhas the power, any order thatis given is listened to andbrought into action.However, when the sameMinister loses his power,nobody even listens to him;bringing that into action isfar-off. Similarly, the onewho is set on the throne ofself-sovereignty can onlybecome a king in the future.When an instruction is givento the sense organs in thesoul conscious state, theylisten to and obey the order.2. An ideal King is the onewho is always a master andnever a slave. The one whois a slave to the senseorgans, to the five vices oflust, anger, greed,attachment and ego, cannever become a king. Sayfor example, God asks us torealize ourselves as soul andsee others as souls too;however, instead of seeinga soul, we see the body;instead of looking at thevirtues of others, we look at

their weaknesses; instead ofseeing the new world andthe sweet home (IncorporealWorld or Soul World, whichis beyond sun, moon andstars, where God and wesouls reside as point oflight), we look at the oldworld; then aren’t we theslaves of our physical senseorgans. Am I the master ofthe self and the master of mymind, intellect and sub-conscious mind do or I getinfluenced by all these senseorgans? We instruct ourmind to be in remembranceof one God Father, but forhow long is it inremembrance of the oneGod Father?3. An ideal King is the onewho has a strong intellect.The one with a weakintellect will not be able totake right decisions and willnot be able to discriminateaccurately between rightand wrong, true and false.One wrong decision takenby a king can spoil the entirekingdom. The Kings of theGolden Age and the SilverAge had great wisdom,strong decision anddiscrimination power, hencethey never had the need tohave a minister. In thecopper age, due to bodyconsciousness, intellect


became weak and hence the Kingsof that time felt the need to have aminister in order to take rightdecisions. In the Iron Age, there’sno question of kings. It is now therule of people over the people.Where the collective decision-making body is in tatters.Therefore, the one who desires tobecome a king in the Golden Ageneeds to have a strong intellect.This is why the One who is theOcean of Knowledge comes andmakes our intellect divine throughknowledge and Rajyogameditation. The more we renouncethe waste and negative thoughts,the more our discrimination powerand decision making powerbecome strong. That is when wewill be able to identify differentforms of Maya and be able toprotect ourselves.4. King is the one who has love,friendship and compassiontowards all the people in hiskingdom. One without thesequalities will not be able tounderstand and solve the problemsof the people or subjects of thekingdom. That is the reason whyBaba asks us to have compassionand good wishes and spreadvibrations of peace towards all thesouls.From tomorrow, make the practice

of studying Godly knowledgediligently and with vigour trying toimbibe as much as you can.

Being a good organiser, I have planned myday. I’ve listed all the activities andschedules for the next 24 hours. I have alot to accomplish. I am not the one to becaught up in trivial matters. I am methodicaland efficient with my time. After all, time isvaluable and should be utilised wisely. So,I have made my plans for the day.And what a day! From early morning,everything seems to be conspiring to makea mockery of my plan, of my efficiency. Ihave been confronted with manyunexpected circumstances, demanding mytime and energy, keeping me away fromthe “real”, or so I think, things that concernme. Yes, life is full of its uncertainties andmy best made plans are sometimes madeuseless and ineffective.The best way to maintain a state ofequilibrium and always remain calm is tobecome an observer. Step aside a little andwatch the scenes of the drama. Eventhough I am an actor in the scene and eventhough I have to enact my role in theseevents, I can develop a state of consciousdetachment that helps me to deal with thesituation more effectively. If I become tooinvolved, I take my role in the drama forthe real thing. I become confused,intimidated and, worst of all, lose my cool –my equilibrium. So, from today, I shall be a‘Detached Observer’. I will not judge orcriticize. But I will be willing to understand,appreciate and accept that each situationreveals a hidden gift, for me to discover.

People often doubt theefficacy of prayer. How canGod answer the prayers of allHis devotees? They reason: ‘ifprayer had power, then thepeople who pray must be therichest and most powerful inthe world, while those whopray less or do not pray at allshould be the most unhappyand miserable’. However, wesee many people unhappydespite daily prayer and manypeople happy even though theynever pray. FriedrichNietzsche, one of the greatestphilosophers of the world aptlysaid, “I cannot believe in aGod who wants to be praisedall the time.”

needs to be praised by Hisdevotees. There is nothing thatman can give to God as manhimself is the creation of God.We are like rivers, while Godis like the Sea. Wheneverything is a gift of God,what can anyone offer to God?

Yet, there is something verysignificant about prayer whichworks in a mysterious manner.It is important to know thatmystery. Gandhi said, “Prayeris not asking. It is a longing ofthe soul. It is daily admissionof one’s weakness. It is betterin prayer to have a heartwithout words than wordswithout a heart.”

It is generally said that Godresides within the heart ofevery person; yet in reality, ourheart is filled with worldlylove, lust, desires, passion andhatred. The result is that welose connection with God dueto these impurities of worldlydesires. We lose connectionwith God in the same way as acomputer loses its connectionwith the Global Network if theInternet connection issnapped. Suddenly we do notknow what is happening

within us or in the world. Welose the ability to see love,compassion, justice in theworld and become filled withpain that is caused by ourinternal impurities.

Harvey Fierstein believedthat prayer connects us back tothe world: I do believe thatwe’re all connected. I dobelieve in positive energy. I dobelieve in the power of prayer.I do believe in putting up goodinto the world. And I believein taking care of each other. Prayer thus connects us witheveryone by connecting uswith God.

We in India particularlyhave the exalted tradition ofprayer which is aimed at thewelfare of the entire mankind:– “Sarve bhavantuh sukhinah,sarve santu naramayah,

Sarve bhadrani pashyantu,ma kashchit dukh-bhagbhavet!

It is prayed that all souls behappy, all stay healthy, all beprosperous and no one sufferfrom any affliction.

Thus, the greatest advantageof prayer is the feeling ofoneness. You are never aloneif you pray regularly to God.Everyone else can leave youbut God cannot since He isalways with you. Once you areconnected with Him, yougradually start developing Hisattributes. You become good,just and compassionate as you

It is to be understood that

God is under no obligation toanswer all our prayers. He alsodoes not fulfill all our wishesas most of our wishes arebased on our limitedunderstanding of the world.We often ask things that ifgranted, can make our lifeeven more miserable. Godchooses to fulfill a wish onlyif it is indeed good for us andnot otherwise.

When we pray to God, ourego is dissolved as weunderstand our smallness. Youstart hearing the voice of Godmore clearly from within. Wetransform as our thoughtsresonate the thoughts of God.We are completelytransformed as our wishesbecome one with His wishes.Thereafter, we ourselvesrealize that our prayers areanswered very quickly and weachieve everything very fast,

just as a man who swims withthe flow arrives at his goal veryfast. We are blessed with thepower of Divine and nothingcan be impossible for us. Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam has rightlysaid, “God, our Creator, hasstored within our minds andpersonalities, great potentialstrength and ability. Prayerhelps us tap and develop thesepowers.”

Life definitely becamecomfortable but also more andmore miserable because themisuse of these things broughtmore discontentment andsorrow. Then is the timewhen God descends on thisearth to liberate all the soulsfrom this misery and totransform this old and misusedworld into a new and beautifulone.

According to His promise inthe Holy Scripture, theShrimat Bhagawat Gita whichsays “Yada yada hidharmasya, glanirbhawatibharata, abhyuthanamadharmasya tadatmanamsrijamyaham. Paritranyasadhuna vinashayaschadushkrita. Dharmasansthapanashchayasambhavami yuge yuge”. Had Mahatma Gandhibeen confined toboundaries of time, a

nation of then more than thirtycrore people would not havecalled him ‘Bapu’ and adoptedhim as The Father of theNation. All his life, he keptexperimenting with truth andnon-violence. His lifelongexperiments with truth havemade him as timeless and aseternal as truth.

Gandhiji’s philosophy oftruth and non-violence haspermanence ingrained, not justin its nature and spirit, but inits each and every word. Truthand non-violence can never beoutdated. Violence is a threatto the very existence ofmankind and the existence ofall other species. The UnitedNations was formed by manafter the World War posedthreat to his life and existence.The Security Council alsocame to be formed for thepurpose of providing securityto man against threats ofviolence.

The deadly proportions thatviolence has assumed todaymake Gandhi and his

philosophy of non-violence,all the more relevant. It isunthinkable to discuss whetherGandhi continues to berelevant or not. Time has madeGandhi timeless and times tocome shall make him all themore timeless.

Nobel Committee’s publicdeclaration of regret over notbeing able to confer NobelPeace Prize upon Gandhijibears testimony to world’sunderstanding of theperformance of Gandhiji’sprinciples.

Gandhiji’s devotion to thecause of the liberation of thehungry and spiritually starvingmillions was so intense thatafter feeling the agony of theirpoverty in him, he wore theirpoverty on his body to

experience it physically also.He made loin-cloth hiscomplete dress, whicheventually became the identityand code of his life. Reactingto this dress code of Gandhiji,Churchill had called him a‘Naked Fakir’ and this is howGandhiji wrote to Churchill:

desire to crush the simple‘Naked Fakir’ as you are saidto have described me. I havelong been trying to be a Fakirand that naked – a moredifficult task; I therefore,regard the expression as acompliment, thoughunintended.

Now-a-days,deities are only tattooed onarms or tabooed by PayCommissions and merelyoutward cleanliness isobserved and that also for aday or two on occasions likeDiwali, etc. All this shows thatpeople, otherwise negligentabout maintaining cleanliness,are particular about inwardpurity and virtue on theseoccasions. What a wonderfulabode of excellent purity,peace and prosperity Bharatwas during that age, of whichit is said in allegorical formthat rivers then brimmed withmilk and ghee.

Therefore, a brief andretrospective review of thehistory should show that if thepeople of a country arerighteous and if their habits of

human world of that epoch iscalled ‘Vaikunth’ or HeavenlyAbode or Satyuga, Krit-Yugaor Golden Age.

If Indian people light up,now-a-days, earthen lamps onthe occasion of thecelebrations of Diwali (whichis only nominal), it can beimagined how gloriously andjoyously the people of theepoch of Satyuga celebratedthe ceremony of anointment ofShri Narayan. The verytradition of celebrating the dayof coronation has its origin inthe times of Shri Narayan andthe celebration of theenthronement ceremony ofShri Ram also was justaccording to the aforesaidtradition.

But there is a huge contrastbetween Diwali as celebratedthen and now. At that time,Shri Lakshmi and ShriNarayan and Shri Sita and ShriRam were personally livingand their respective Sun andMoon Deity Dynasties alsowere in existence. Today,however, the face of Bharat

living are good and divine and their ‘selves’ areenlightened with Godly knowledge, then disquiet, misery,poverty and slavery cannot stay there at all. And, if Indiais disquiet today, the single main cause of this is that itspeople are Tamsic and impious and the men running thegovernment are also irreligious and Bhogis (vicious) –not Yogis.

Thus, getting a proper understanding of thesignificance and origin of Diwali, one should thinkseriously over the problem: ‘How can purity, be itoutward or inward, and peace and prosperity be broughtabout and how can the poverty, misery and corruptionbe ousted? How can the self (soul) residing in the humantemples (body) be lighted by means of Godly knowledgeso that the Dark Phase (Krishna Paksha) may end andSatyuga, the Light Phase (Shukla Paksha) may ensue.

How was the Sovereignty of Shri Lakshmi and ShriNarayan established? The question now is that thesufferings, the disquiet, the corruption and pseudo-religions which exist in the present Kaliyuga must haveexisted Kalpa (5000 years) ago also; then, whodestroyed that vicious world and, in its place, who re-established the Golden-aged, religious, righteous,lawful, peaceful and prosperous world? It is none otherthan the Supreme Soul, God Shiva who re-establishesthe Heavenly Abode of the deities through Adi DevaBrahma and Saraswati.

On the auspicious occasion of Diwali, GodShiva tells us:

“Children! You should, tell the people at large thatthis period of ‘Confluence of the end of Iron Age andthe beginning of Golden Age’ is very auspicious. It isthe most appropriate time for you children to greeteach other because it is within this short period thatthe Godly work of re-establishment of the New, Ever-happy, Ever healthy, Ever-peaceful and Ever-prosperous Golden-aged world shall be accomplishedand the souls shall close their old account of pastvicious actions and open ‘New Account’, so as to say

Come, sit with me, tell me all youfeel

I see the tears you hide so wellThe pain you carry, come, share

with meI want to know and hear you tell.

How much you wish they’dunderstand

Just ask you once and hold yourhand

To them you look who are bereftLost and empty, with hearts long
