GREETINGS FOLKS!!! In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit!!! May God continue to Bless all of you and yours, and we’ll see you in CHURCH!!!

Here we are in 2015, doesn't really feel any different does it? And the fact of the matter is that it is not that much different, only a new calendar. But as time marches on here on earth we come closer by the moment, day, month, year to the return of our Lord and Savoir Jesus. This will be a two month news-letter so there will be a lot of stuff to post on your refrigerator to follow up on in the next two months. I am so "proud" is not the right word, "happy" is not the right word, maybe "pleased" but I'm not sure that is the right word either, the fact of the matter is that it is not me who is feeling these feelings I can't describe... But what ever is the right word, the fact that you have answered God's call in your lives and your hearts to step up to the line and "give" to our connectional ministry, that is "apportionments." I am very, very sure pleasing to God. And who after all should we chose to please more than God the Father and Jesus the Son. After all, did they both not give their all, for each and every one of us. I want you to take that personally into your heart perhaps think of it in this way to make the most personal that you can, Both God and Jesus gave their all for ME! I think some folks tend to think sometimes this us is others but please feel the personal contact that God and Jesus want with YOU! We will soon be starting up our confirmation class and preparing our young folks to take another step in their faith journey. We already have three folks who will be baptized on Easter Day, if there are others who are thinking about this step in their lives please feel free to get in touch with me. You will read in other places how the Salvation Army offerings fared, but I am so pleased that so many folks in so many ways stepped up to help in all the ways that are needed to make this a successful op-eration that serves so many folks right here in our community. I can not begin to name all the names simply because I do not know everyone who so faithfully and lovingly served God and their neighbor this year. I WILL tell you that our Jen Kapinus is the hub around which so many things happen and so many things that she touches are blessed by her passion and compassion to help where ever she/we can. She will be one of your most important and valuable assets as you all transition from the end of June into the next part of your church life. The D. S. called me last week to express the fact that he had received a copy of my request to retire and to remind me that the Staff Parish Relations Council needs to be forwarding their request for the qualities and gifts of the follow pastor. They met last week and are hard at it. We had our 6:00, soup, sandwich, scripture, study, for strengthening, the soul last Wednesday evening yup that's right New Years eve. We actually met at 5:30 P.M. had soup and sandwich and then retired to the sanctuary and watched "Heaven Is For Real". After watching the movie we talked about it some and then we separated and went into the night and into our homes and the next morning it was Janu-ary 1st 2015, and heaven is, and was, and always will be for real! FOREVER!!! The plan is to do more of this in the future and the prayer is that more folks will choose to participate. God’s Servant, A Brother Walker upon the Way, and Your Servant shepherd, and his life’s partner

A HUGE thanks to those of you who donated money to Salvation Army and a Big thanks to those of you who took time to Ring the Bell. Your time and help is greatly appreciated! To date $18,058 was raised! I am excited to tell you that this is an all time high for Crawford County! All money will be used right here in Crawford County to help so many people this year!! We have some exciting things planned, so stay tuned for updates.

I am also very excited to report that we were able to provide Christmas to 73 families that included 180 children and 64 adults. This is a huge accomplishment. Every family received clothes, toys and food. Special thanks to the ladies who helped with the gift wrapping. I think they found this to be a great experience. The generosity this season was overwhelming! 56 families were sponsored by a variety of families, area businesses and local churches. The 17 families that were not sponsored were taken care of using Salvation Army Funds that were designated for our Christmas program. I did the shopping for the 17 families, along with my niece Kelsey. This was an overwhelming, but fun experience! The Eastman UMC sponsored 3 families and did a tremendous job providing for these families. Thank you Jill Sheckler for organizing this. At the PdC UMC we were able to sponsor 1 large family from Catholic Charities. I would also like to thank the PdC congregation for supporting me as your church secretary and allowing me to take time away from my church duties to work with Salvation Army. By supporting your church you are also supporting Salvation Army and your community. I would like to give a special thanks to Pastor Mike and Linda Christensen for picking up and emptying the kettles daily! This was a big job and a lot of responsibility. And another big thanks to Friday Wiles for covering for me in the office when I was on vacation in early December. She ran the office smoothly and took care of all Salvation Army duties. The Salvation Army Christmas season would not have been a success without Friday’s help!! Blessings to you all! Jennifer Kapinus

~Special M essages~

When the great composer Henri Mancini turned 65, his daughter, Felice, composed a little musical birthday card and sang it in tribute to her father. It goes like this:

"Sometimes - not often enough - we reflect upon the good things, and our thoughts always center around those we love. And I think about those people who mean so much to me; who, for so many years have made me so very happy. And I think about the times I have forgotten to say, 'Thank You!', and just how much I love them."

For all the times I neglected to say “thank you” for the untold ways you serve God – THANK YOU!! May God continue to bless us and strengthen us for ministry together in 2015! Pastor Lynn

Anyone in the commu-nity may access these scholarships if they Pastor Lynn. If you know of someone who would benefit from FPU, FIRST pray for him/her, then invite them using this bulletin. REGISTER

NOW by contacting Pastor Lynn 734-3813 or secretary Jen Kapinus 326-8321.

The Wisconsin Conference UMC is working to raise $1 million for treated nets to save millions of lives in Africa. Both churches have pledged to join this effort by working to raise (W) $250 for 25 nets and (E) $1000 for 100 nets ($10/net). If you would like to help and are able, please make a donation using the envelopes found at the

Notes from UMW…Notes from UMW…Notes from UMW…Notes from UMW… We will not meet in January or February. See you in March!

Prayer Circle We will meet on Tuesday, January 20th and February 17th at 9am at Huckleberry’s. See you there!

Martha Circle Our February meeting will be Wednesday, February 4th at 7pm in the lounge. Gladys Brown will be hostess and Nancy Harvey

will have the program. For our January meeting Ericka Stubbs informed of us the true meaning of organic foods and told us to read the labels on processed foods and eliminate as many as possible from our diet. Using fresh foods grown in our area straight from the farm to the table ensures us of having the needed nutrients for a healthy body. We sampled some organic foods and enjoyed her excellent presentation. Thanks Ericka!

2014 Giving Statements will be in the Narthex soon. If you need your statement mailed to you, please contact the office. Thank you for your faithful giving in 2014! Best wishes and blessings in 2015!

Thanks to the congregation for the generous gift of money given to me for Christmas. It means a lot to me and my family that you thought of us again this Christmas season. I am looking forward to working with you again in 2015! Happy New Year, Jen Kapinus

We are still ordering Scrip for 2015. If you didn’t participate last year, now is the time to join in. Help the church earn money and a tax rebate for yourself! Orders are placed weekly on Monday mornings or on Sunday mornings with Juanita Dyer. All scrip revenue for 2015 will be designated for apportionments.

Calling All Bakers! We will hold a bake sale during our annual Spaghetti Dinner on February 10th. Donations can be

brought in on either the 9th or 10th. Spaghetti Dinner and Bake Sale proceeds will support the church budget.

Ash Wednesday Worship Wednesday, February 18th

at 7pm

Special Birthday Celebration! Katherine Kramer will celebrate her 92nd birthday on January 22nd. It would brighten her day to receive

cards from her home church. She is the mother of Karen LaPointe.

A Note of Thanks…. A BIG thank you to the Christmas Carolers who

brought joy to me with their beautiful Christmas songs– the harmony was the

greatest. Thanks also to all those who furnished the delicious cookies.

It was greatly appreciated!

Check It Out….Please! New Year’s Eve / New Year’s Day-remembering the past and looking forward to the future! Recently I picked up one of Dorothy

McLaughlin’s interesting books that she brought to our church library from her collection in, Bella Vista AR. It is The Story of the American Hymn by Edward S. Ninde published in 1921. The Pilgrims brought with them their Psalm Book used in their worship service. Later the Pilgrims brought over the first printing press and used it to print a new Bay Psalm Book in 1648– paid to be the first book printed in British America. They attempted to follow as close by as possible to the Hebrew-original. The 23rd Psalm looked like this: “1 The Lord to mee a shepheard is, want therefore shall not

I. 2 Hee in the folds of tender-grasse, doth cause mee downe to lie: To waters calme me gently leads. 3 Restore

my soule doth hee : he doth in paths of righteousnes: for his names sake leade mee. 4 Yea though in valley of deaths

shade I walk, none ill I’le feare: because thou art with mee, thy rod, and staffe my comfort are. 5 For mee a table thou hast spread, in presence of my foes: thou dost annoynt my

head with oyle, my cup it over-flowes. 6 Goodness & mercy surely shall all my dayes follow mee: and in the Lords house I shall dwell so long as dayes shall bee.”

Oh! Am I glad we learned the newer version when we had to recite the 23rd Psalm in Sunday School in the fifties! Appreciate the past, cherish today and await future blessings that unfold. Happy New Year. Mary Don Olson Church Librarian aka “Mert” P.S. Please consider adding to your resolutions for 2015: 1. Check out the Church library. 2. Remember to return overdue library books. Thanks!

How You Helped This Holiday Season….

Thanks to your generous donations and hard work, our church was able to

do the following: -Provided many hats/caps and mittens/gloves

for those in need. -Donated many new toys and food to

Operation Santa. -Thanks to the many who donated money and helped shop we were able to sponsor 1 family

from Catholic Charities. -$805 was collected from the Christmas

Offering. Half of this will go to the PdC Food Pantry with the remainder

supporting our church budget! -Our church also supplied pies for the annual

Community Christmas Dinner. -Provided hot lunches on Wednesday’s to

homeless and needy folks. -See the information from Salvation Army on page 3 about how you helped support them!

Thanks to all who helped make this possible!

Birthday Board!! Watch for it!

Get to know new friends... Re-acquaint with old friends...

Have you ever heard a name at church & wondered "WHO IS THAT?"

Have you seen someone in the sanctuary or Fellowship Hall and wondered

"WHO IS THAT?" This year the Birthday Board will become

a Friendship Board. If you have a January or February Birthday, please fill out an info sheet asap & return to Lynn or Pastor Mike's basket in Jen's office. Each month we'll post those folks celebrating

birthdays. We will have the opportunity to share hobbies, interest and memories of

places we've been. Only share info you are comfortable with.

The only way to have a friend is to be a friend.

It is time to step out of our comfort zone and say "Hi, I'm___________.
