CABLExpress® Cables are all RoHS compliant as required by the European Union (EU) starting on July 1, 2006.

CXtec has written documentation that all products and components of products manufactured by CXtec and its suppliers are all compliant with this new legislation. The legislation states that all Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) must have zero traces of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) or polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE). These metals have proven hazardous to the environment. Many U.S. states have decided to follow the EU’s lead and develop similar material restrictions for electronic products.

    DVI-D vs. DVI-I

Have a question about whichAV cable is right for you?

Call us to see(and hear) the light.

    • DVI-D stands for DVI-Digital.

    • DVI-I indicates a DVI cable or adapter that supports both analog and digital. This allows a user to connect DVI-style adapters to any monitor with a VGA connection, thus creating an easy future-proofing transition (as more and more offices convert to flat-panel displays).

    • Higher resolution displays require what is known as a dual link DVI connection, or DVI-DL. This connector style allows for a second data transmission that enables high- resolution displays.

HDMI – This digital audio/visual transmission format is supported by almost all modern consumer electronics such as next generation computers, video game systems, and televisions.

DVI – Capable of sending analog and digital signals, this connector style is commonly found on flat-panel displays and video projection units.

DFP – Found on some earlier versions of flat-panel displays, this connector style started as a rival to the DVI format. However, it never received widespread implementation.

VGA – The most common connector style for all PCs, this analog transmission style is slowly being phased out for the more technologically advanced, digital HDMI version of video transmission.

RCA – Developed in the 1940s, this connector style is commonly found in most audio/visual peripherals. This type of platform only allows for one signal transmission, which often results in an abundance of cabling behind devices.

When laying fiber trunking between offices within an outdoor/underground environment, one must be aware of many new variables that can affect the performance of the fiber. Aspects such as water damage, animal interference, and chemical interaction can seriously damage an outdoor fiber infrastructure. In order to combat this, fiber manufacturers developed a form of bulk fiber that is filled with gel to make the cable impervious to water, animal damage, and chemicals. While this is acceptable for straight, distances and high-thread trunks, gel-filled fiber is not a viable option when trying to keep installation costs low or in situations where installation requires bending the wire around multiple obstacles. For this application, Tight Buffer construction is a better-suited option. While providing excellent protection against water, animals and chemicals, this fiber cable terminates much more easily and has a tighter bend radius.

    Gel vs. Tight Buffer

    • Installing Cat6 cable is a great way to future-proof your infrastructure.

    • Cat6 is backwards-compatible with Cat5E.

    • Many new building regulations are requiring the use of plenum-rated cabling for cable runs in between walls. Plenum-rated cables have a fire-retardant jacket coating.

    Bulk Cable

    • Allows for direct termination with connectors• Reduces installation cost by reducing labor costs, material

costs and breakout kits• Eliminates splice loss• Can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments• Compact cable design for limited conduit space• Ideal for long cable pulls• Available in 2-to 156-fiber counts

Gender changers give you the ability to connect cables that have the same gender. Gender changers are essential for anyone who is working out in field environments because they provide a solution to a problem that could be very expensive and timely to fix.

Simply plug one male end into one side of the adapter, then plug the other male end into the other side. Now you have a connection that will allow a seamless flow of data. Note: Gender changers are also available for changing two female adapters.

    Media Conversion

    Why use fiber?

    • Data can be transmitted at greater distances on fiber optic cabling than is possible on copper UTP. Don’t spend your valuable IT dollars on installing a switch every 100 meters when you can run up to 2000 meters on multimode fiber.

    • Fiber will protect your data from noise and interference when cabling is run through areas with high levels of electromagnetic interference.

    • Fiber offers greater bandwidth carrying capacity than is available with copper UTP.

Why use media converters when deploying fiber?

    • Protect your investment in your current copper-based switches, routers and NICs. Don’t throw this equipment out; connect their RJ-45 ports to media converters and connect the media converters to your fiber.

    • Media converters allow you the flexibility to deploy fiber on an as-needed basis. Don’t get locked into a multi-port fiber switch when you only need a few points of fiber connectivity today. When you need more fiber, you can add more affordable media converters.

    Fiber Cables & Connectors

When upgrading equipment, one common problem is that different equipment uses different fiber connectors. There are many cases where it is very expensive to replace a long fiber run because of these changing connectors or because the fiber cables are either buried underground or embedded between walls. One inexpensive way to solve this problem is by using conversion kits. These are often short fiber runs which ultimately change the connection style of the fiber to fit with the new connection interface.

about the RapidNet® product line and how

    it can benefit you!

    A Revolution in Network Cabling

As a global manufacturer of network cabling solutions, HellermannTyton® has always been at the forefront of technological advancement within the industry. Continuously leading by example, HellermannTyton designs, develops and manufactures connectivity products and complete system solutions which meet or exceed international industry performance standards. However, performance is not the only issue for installers and their customers. Many mission-critical data center installations are conducted on weekends or evenings to minimize network downtime or disruption to a customer’s business. Even on new building installations, network cabling installers may face strict access and deadline pressures. In addition, the installation company may not have the required staff to meet a project deadline. HellermannTyton has developed RapidNet for these time-critical installations.

    What is RapidNet?

RapidNet is a pre-terminated “plug and play” system which does not require on-site termination or certification testing. This dramatically reduces installation time by up to 75%. Even though installations are completed in record time, quality and performance are never compromised because each individual link is terminated and tested by HellermannTyton before delivery to the site.

Fiber trunking is used for easier cable management and cable pulling. Fiber trunks combine the bandwidth capacity of several individual cable assemblies into a single, convenient assembly that is easy to use and install. These are traditionally used in backbone, premise distribution and interconnect applications which require multiple fibers to be routed together from one point. Available with custom connectors, lengths and breakouts. Other applications include outside plant, aerial distribution and communications closets.

    Fiber Trunking

SINGLEMODE (9/125)You can stop looking for a better way to terminate your trunks. Our termination trunks are are built with a pulling eye to make installation as easy as possible. Four different connector types available.

MULTIMODE (62.5/125 – 50/125)Terminate your multimode fiber with our terminated trunks. Avail-able in 14 different connector types, we can terminate any fiber cable you have. Our termination trunks are serialized for easy cable management and possess a pulling eye for easy installation.

DATAPIPE ULTRA-SMALL FORM FACTORUltra-Small Form Factor series of trunks for MTP solutions offer improved flexibility and minimum bend radius over current MIC and central tube ribbon designs. Has a coated-fiber, central tube design that is extremely lightweight and small in diameter (less than 9mm) making installation and management easier than ever.Datapipe has several benefits over central tube ribbon, while both are used for the same applications. First of all, datapipe is more robust and is much less likely to be damaged while being pulled during installation. Secondly, datapipe is only 1/3 the diameter of central tube ribbon. This facilitates better cable management with far less underfloor congestion. It also increases airflow, resulting in more efficient cooling measures and decreased environmental costs. Plus, it’s smaller and more lightweight, meaning fewer bulky spools and lower shipping costs.

    ENCLOSURES 10-GIGABIT FIBER

10-Gig FiberThe emerging standard for 10-gigabit Ethernet requires serial transmission for 300 meters of 50/125 glass. CXtec is pleased to offer cable assemblies using the latest in laser-ready glass, suitable for the 10-gigabit Ethernet standard.

CXtec offers 10-gigabit fiber cabling assembled in accordance with IBM standards. Our cabling is built in IBM-approved manufacturing plants and is PPQP (Product, Process, Quality Plan) Certified.

This new technology provides nearly three times more bandwidth than multimode fiber cables, as well as a much lower cost than singlemode fiber cables. Providing for decreased power consumption, as well as requiring less maintenance, these cables will allow you to save a lot of capital when upgrading for infrastructure. 10-gigabit fiber cables will also make your infrastructure much easier to upgrade for future projects.
