Gospel Meditation
Today Jesus breaks through the fear of the disciples and sends them
as apostles. On Good Friday, Jesus “handed over his Spirit” and
now gives his Spirit commissioning his disciples to carry on the
mission God, his Father, had given Him. Through the Holy Spirit,
the disciples become agents or sacraments of Christ’s presence. Like
Thomas, at times, we seem courageous but in truth fear and doubt.
Jesus comes to Thomas and us, giving us faith to proclaim, “My
Lord and my God!” How is the Risen Lord present in your life?
Where does Jesus' presence confront your doubt? To whom is Jesus
sending you to bring the Good News of God’s love?
Hoy Jesús rompe el miedo de los discípulos y los manda al mundo
como apóstoles. En Viernes Santo, Jesús "les dio su Espíritu" y ahora
da su Espíritu ordenando a sus discípulos que lleven a cabo la mis-
ión que Dios, su Padre, le ha dado a Él. A través del Espíritu Santo,
los discípulos se convierten en agentes o sacramentos de la presen-
cia de Cristo. Como Tomás, a veces, parecemos valientes pero en
realidad tememos y dudamos. Jesús viene a Tomás y a nosotros,
dándonos fe para proclamar "¡Señor mío y Dios mío!" ¿Cómo está el
Señor Resucitado presente en su vida? ¿Dónde es que la presencia
de Jesús confronta sus dudas? ¿A quién le pide Jesús que lleve ust-
ed la Buena Nueva del amor de Dios?

Thomas believes Jesus has risen from the dead only after he
sees Jesus and places his fingers in his wounds. We may not be
able to place our hands physically on Jesus every day, but we
can see his presence in those around us. How are we helping
others see Jesus today?

The Ascension Family Altar Society is pleased to announce the
awarding of its 2017 Scholarship to Emily Bowlin. Emily has
been homes schooled through A Beka Academy, a program
offered through Pensacola Christian Academy in Pensacola,
Florida. She has been active in the community and in the par-
ish. Among her contributions to the parish, she has served as an
altar server, lector, Eucharistic Minister, sacristan, and youth
representative to the Parish Council. Emily has been accepted
to the Bachelor of Science program in dance at Texas A & M
University, where she will be studying kinesiology with an
emphasis in dance science. Our congratulations to Emily and
all our other 2017 parish graduates!
Volunteer of the Month- March
Congrats to Priscilla Ruiz. She came to Ascen-
sion and immediately started working with our
youth as a new youth director and now she di-
rects the choir and teaches Post Confirma-
tion. She has made huge strides in the youth program especial-
ly with her efforts to integrate them into every aspect of parish
life. The youth volunteer at liturgical services, including as
Eucharistic Ministers and lectors. They are engaged in the com-
munity through service projects from the Pregnancy Resource
Center to the Capitol Area Food Bank. She has empowered
them and shown them that they too can bring Christ to the
world. Because of her efforts our youth will have strong roots
and courage to live out and bear witness to God’s grace. Thank
you Pricilla for all that you do for our youth and for our parish.
Voluntario del mes de Marzo
Felicitaciones a Priscilla Ruiz. Ella llego a la parroquia de As-
censión e inmediatamente inicio a trabajar en la direccion de
programa de los jovenes y aun es encargada del coro de los
jovenes. Sigue activa en el programa de jovenes que ya reci-
biedo la confirmacion. Ella a podido atraer muchos jovenes a la
parroquia e involucrarlos en los diferentes ministerios como
ministros de Eucharistia, Lectores y Acomodadores.
Agradecemos su esfuerzo que a venido realizando a nuestra
parroquia.

The youth will be selling flower arrangements Mother’s
Day weekend to raise money to go on a mission trip this
