Korowa Anglican Girls’ School congratulates
all students of the VCE Class of 2017 on
their outstanding results. We are proud of all
they have achieved. This year, we have three
students as our Duces, Ann Liang, Karla
Murphy and Jessica Zhong. Ann, Karla and
Jessica each attained an ATAR of 99.70.
Korowa’s emphasis on a well-rounded
education means that students with a broad
range of abilities and interests excel. Korowa
graduates continue to university level to study
across a broad range of fields, including
medicine, law, business, science, engineering,
art and design, and more.

DuxAnn Liang99.70We congratulate Ann Liang, our Dux for 2017. Ann received an outstanding ATAR of 99.70 following perfect study scores in Literature and History (Revolutions) and excellent results in Mathematical Methods, Chemistry and Psychology. In Year 11, Ann studied Chinese (2nd Language) at the VCE level. Ann joined Korowa in Year 10 in 2015 after studying abroad. In 2017 she held the leadership role of the Editor of the Palm Leaf school magazine. Throughout her time at Korowa, Ann received multiple awards for her art, writing, language study and academic achievements. In 2017, she published her first story, My First Lesson, in an anthology. Ann was the recipient of the Diane Millar Award for Humanities as well as the joint recipient of the Principal’s Prize for Dux of Year 12 in 2017. As a member of our school community, Ann was a well-respected and admired student leader. We wish Ann well for her future.
DuxJessica Zhong99.70We are pleased to announce Jessica Zhong as Dux for 2017. Jessica achieved an outstanding ATAR of 99.70 following excellent results in English, Japanese, Specialist Mathematics and Chemistry. In Year 11 she completed both Chinese (2nd Language) and Mathematical Methods Units 3 and 4. Jessica is a highly motivated student who has made many positive contributions to the life of the School since commencing at Korowa Anglican Girls’ School in 2012. She has participated in a vast array of school activities, earning several awards for excellence including Colours for Athletics, Badminton and Track and Field. Jessica received academic awards in 2014, 2016 and 2017. Jessica is respected, outgoing and good-humoured with an excellent work ethic which will stand her in good stead in the future.
DuxKarla Murphy99.70It is with great pleasure that we acknowledge Karla Murphy as Dux for 2017. Karla has been an exemplary student of Korowa Anglican Girls’ School since commencing in February 2012. Karla achieved the outstanding ATAR of 99.70 with a perfect study score in German and excellent results in Art, Literature, History (Revolutions) and Physics. In Year 11, Karla completed Mathematical Methods at the VCE level. Karla is a brilliant debater and has exceptional analytical skills and strong, critical thinking skills. Due to these qualities, she held the leadership position of Debating Captain in 2017. Karla has developed a selfless sense of service, often assisting her peers by either leading study groups or mentoring younger peers. She is a genuine life-long learner and has helped others find this passion. Karla has earned an Academic Award, every year, from 2012 to 2016, the Cripps Prize for Dux of Year 11 in 2016 and is the joint recipient of the Principal’s Prize for Dux of Year 12 in 2017. We wish her every success and happiness and will follow her progress with great interest and pride.
