workshops

There will be a significant emphasis at the SASGI 2013 conference and exhibition on education and training, skills upgrading, knowledge transfer, and continuing professional development, and presenters of commercial and non-commercial training are invited to present training workshops at SASGI 2013.

The subject matter and issues covered by the SASGI 2013 conference and exhibition is wide-ranging, with ample opportunity to showcase the latest technologies, applications and solutions.

The overall theme for the SASGI 2013 conference and exhibition is:

Geospatial Solutions for National Development Planning

Within this overall theme there are a number of sub-themes, as follows:

Geomatics in the third millennium Spatially enabling South Africa Facilitating service delivery with geomatics Cadastral surveying, land management and land reform Professional standards and practices Professional development and transformation Geomatics in the mining environment Tools for infrastructure development Positioning, measurement and modelling technologies Remote sensing technologies for decision making Spatial data infrastructure – the road ahead

ThemeThe surveying and geomatics sector holds much leading-edge technology which needs to be shared and showcased to wider communities. As such, the role of supporting technologies in the GIS, ICT, mapping remote sensing and location-based business sectors is acknowledged and welcomed.

Broadly, the SASGI 2013 conference will cover the technologies, applications, solutions and issues facing South Africa and society in general in the following fields:

Surveying (land, hydrographic, construction, mine, photogrammetric, aerial and space-based)

GNSS, GPS, navigation and positioning technologies Geomatics and geographic information science (GIS) Remote sensing and photogrammetry

Mapping and cartography

We invite you to submit and present papers and training workshops that showcase your work, be it theoretical or practical geospatial research, development, technology, applications, methodologies, projects, implementation or roll-out in the fields of surveying, geo-informatics, GIS, mapping, remote sensing and location-based business.
