DIFFERENT TYPES OF NETWORKS.

A Network is a connection of two or more computers for the purpose of sharing information.

They have made cheap and fast communication possible and also help to save resources.

LAN (Local Area Network) Computer network of devices confined a relative small area such as building , or even an office etc.

LANs generally consist of one or more switches linked to each other, often at least one is connected to a router , cable modem for internet access.

MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)

MAN is a network larger than a LAN and connects clients and servers from multiple buildings over a large area.

This network may be use different transmission technology and different media such as : Fiber and Wireless because of the greater distance it covers.

WAN (Wide Area Network)

WAN is a network that connects two or more geographic areas.

This type of network use different transmission and media.

This network can connect offices in the same organization across town or across the world from each other.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF TOPOLOGIES

Network topology is the layout pattern of interconnections of the various elements of a computer or biological network.

Topology can be understood as the shape or structure of a network.

BUS TOPOLOGY This type of network

is well suited for temporary networks that must be set up in a hurry.

It’s easy to implement and extend.

But it’s performance can degrade as additional computers are added.

STAR TOPOLOGY Star topology refers to a

network wherein all the nodes are connected individually to one common hub.

Star networks are one of the most common computer network topologies.

In star topology, the data packets don't have to make their way through various nodes which makes sure that the data transfer is fast. Star

RING TOPOLOGY

A ring network is a network topology in which each node connects to exactly two other nodes, forming a single continuous pathway for signals through each node - a ring.

Data travels from node to node, with each node along the way handling every packet of data.

TREE TOPOLOGY. Among all the Network

Topologies we can derive that the Tree Topology is a combination of the bus and the Star Topology.

The tree like structure allows you to have many servers on the network and you can branch out the network in many ways.
