    Royals FRPR - COMPOSITE BEARINGS

Seals for Hydraulics & Pneumatics -- Your Partner for Sealing Solutions

  • Excellent mechanical strength. High load capacity and shock load resistant. Low maintenance, allows for reduction or elimination of wet lubrication. Excellent electrical insulation and good chemical resistance. Excellent dimensional stability in water, corrosive fluids, and chemical solutions. Long life, wear resistant. Non-abrasive to mating surfaces (no abrasive fillers/ calcium carbonate.) Low coefficient of friction Operates in fresh or salt water without lubrication Damping of vibration Ease of machining Fitting by pressing, freezing, adhesives and mechanical methods

FRPR materials are readily machinable by

conventional machine shop techniques. In general,

methods used for machining softer metals like brass

or aluminium applies for FRPR materials as well. It is

preferable to use tungsten carbide turning tools with

cutting speeds of 5.5 metres (19 feet) per second.

FRPR materials must be machined dry without the use

    of coolant.

Apart from Composite Bearing, Royal specialises in Wear Rings for Hydraulic &

Pneumatic applications made of different raw materials.

The main function of Guide ring is to guide the rod or the piston of a hydraulic cylinder

and absorb the forces that act perpendicular to the direction of movement. Guide rings

also help in preventing any metallic contact between any sliding parts, minimizes the

eccentricity, and thus overall increases the seals life.

    Materials

In view of the different specific demands made on piston and rod guides, various Guide

    ring materials are available:

FRPR Fabric Reinforced Polyester Resin composite material is used in heavy duty

applications where high radial forces are generated.(q=120 Mpa)

PAGF Glass filled Polyamide material is used in medium to heavy duty applications.

Friction-reducing fillers can be added for special applications. (q=40 Mpa)

Filled PTFE (PB40/PB60)- Filled PTFE material guide rings are used in low to medium

duty applications where limited radial forces are generated. Low co-efficient of friction

allows the wear ring to be used in Pneumatic applications as well where high speeds are

    required.(q=20 Mpa)

The total radial load on the piston, the surface speed, type of hydraulic fluid used,

temperature of the system etc. is to be kept in mind while selecting the appropriate

Guide ring. Please do not hesitate to contact our Technical Department for further

information on specific applications and special technical questions.
