Total Number of Branches using “Ababil”': 119

Al Arafah started searching for a true Islamic Banking solution in meeting their requirements at

home and abroad in 2004. Al Arafah by that time was using a branch banking legacy system

supplied by a local vendor. They were also using a small module of “Ababil” for their Scheme

Management system for various Term Deposit Schemes. Realizing the value of the module of

“Ababil”, Al Arafah invited Millennium to install its core Islamic banking solution on test basis for a

limited number of branches. They also invited two other local vendors to do the same. However, in

the long run, they found “Ababil” to be their right solution catering to their current and future Core

Islamic banking requirements. Millennium started deploying Ababil for the entire bank in January

2006. Within a year and a half, all 50 branches of Al Arafah were migrated to “Ababil” and the

entire system was running in a complete centralized mode. Now, Arafah is running its 119

branches under Ababil on its IBM RISC (P7 series) system in Data Centre (DC) backed by its

Disaster Recovery Site (DRS).

Oracle Database Installation and Maintenance: Initially, Millennium installed and configured the

Oracle Database (10g) in the Data Center of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited for its Core Islamic

Banking Solution. When Al-Arafah Islami Bank made ready its Data Recovery (DR) Site,

Millennium also installed and configured Oracle Database its DR and with Active Data Guard

(ADG) for real time replication. Millennium also upgraded the Database from 10g to 11g R2 in Al-

Arafah Islami Bank Ltd. At present, Millennium maintains and supports the Database of Al-Arafah

Islami Bank as its CBS provider.

Because of the replacement need of the branch banking solution PCBANK to the centralized CIBS-

“Ababil”, SIBL was in a very challenging situation. The data migration from one system to another

and training of personnel to change the mindset from distributed branch banking to a centralized

one were the most challenging part.

Other challenges included but were not limited to:

Smooth transaction by banking software and effective data conversion.

Implementation of a Centralized Islami Banking Software within a short time frame

Social Islami Bank selected “Ababil” through International Tendering and after evaluating 4/5 local

and international solutions. The main reason for such selection was true Shariah compliancy and

prompt quality support.

Oracle Data Base Installation and Maintenance: Initially, Millennium installed and configured the

Oracle Database (10g) in the Data Center of Social Islami Bank Limited for its Core Islamic

Banking Solution. When Al-Arafah Islami Bank made ready its Data Recovery (DR) Site,

Millennium also installed and configured Oracle Database its DR and with Active Data Guard

(ADG) for real time replication. Millennium also upgraded the Data Base from 10g to 11g R2 in

Social Islami Bank Ltd. At present, Millennium maintains and supports the Database of Social

Islami Bank as its CBS provider.

Agrani Bank initially wanted to take a solution through their former conventional Branch Banking

Hajj Finance Company Limited (formerly, Ahsania-Malaysia Hajj Investment and Finance Company

Limited) is a Shariah-based non-banking financial institution which started its business operation on

2 July 2007. The company follows the model of Malaysia's pilgrims fund and management

institution (popularly known as "Tabung Hajj"). HFCL used PCBANK application for its branch

operation initially for a few years. However, the organization felt the need for a replacement

because of a lack of Shariah compliancy as well as the system not being a centralized one. MISL

replaced the branch banking application by its centralized application “Ababil” with a successful

data migration record in the year 2013. At present, the service operation of HFCL is fully

ECOTA Fair Trade Forum (EFTF) –Funded by GTZ)

ECOTA Fair Trade Forum (EFTF) is a

national networking body of NGOs and

SMEs that are involved in the production

and marketing of handicrafts at the national

and international level. Since 1990, EFTF

has been working to promote handicrafts

and to uphold the interest of thousands of

destitute artisans working in this sector

throughout Bangladesh by providing various

technical support and better trading

conditions to, and securing the rights of,

A number of development projects are

running in the country to strengthen

BKMEA Utilization Declaration Process

Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers &

Exporters Association (BKMEA) was formed

in mid-nineties to protect and promote the

interest of the knitwear sector of

Bangladesh in local and international

market, the second highest export sector of

the country at the moment. Currently

BKMEA provides its 1014 member-units

with various supports for product & market

promotion, research and development,

productivity improvement, arbitration, one

stop service regarding UP (utilization

permission), UD (utilization declaration), etc.

However, BKMEA is accountable to

different government organizations of

Bangladesh i.e. NBR (National Bureau of

Revenue), EPB (Export Promotion Bureau),

BB (Bangladesh Bank) and Customs

Department and some other concerned

organizations to share export–import related

data and statistics of its member units. It

enables them to analyze the data from

different perspectives. It also helps

development of a back-end database

various data sources, analyze the data

and generate reports, and finally sell

reports through a web portal.

DHI –Danish Hydraulic Institute Mike Zero Project view

MIKE Zero is a shell or frame for many

of the DHI mathematical simulation

models as well as pre and post

processing tools, e.g. data preparation

and visualization tools. In that way,

MIKE Zero in many ways resembles

modern software development tools like

Eclipse and Visual Studio; such tools

provide a number of dedicated editors

for various types of functionally, e.g.

editors for source code, dialog layout,

bitmap, resource management, etc.

Both Visual Studio and Eclipse lists the

files belonging to a project in a project

tree view.

During spring 2005, Millennium

implemented the Project View feature in

MIKE Zero. This feature has created

substantial interest and a number of

useful enhancements have already

been suggested. Thus DHI initiated a

second project for Millennium called

Project View Enhancement. DHI wanted

to enhance the previous implementation

as an ongoing effort to give MIKE Zero

a Microsoft Visual Studio like look and

feel as well as features and

functionalities. Millennium implemented

the Project View Enhancement during

2005.

Bizlogix Dashboard

EOC Dashboard is a help desk

management tool that helps Corporate

executives to monitor the life cycle of

problem tickets created from ESM

server like REMEDY, TIVOLI. The

unique feature of this dashboard is real

time data representation. New and

modified ticket with Urgent and High

priority is available in the dashboard

without any request from user as soon

as it is created in the ESM server. User

can filter the tickets according to age,

status and priority. User can save his

filter setting, which will be available

during his next login. The Dashboard

has the online notification feature for

any new and modified tickets.

The goal of this project is to develop a

web based server monitor system.

Where it is possible to monitor servers,

switches and firewalls thou the SNMP

The goal of this project is to develop a

web based messenger, where the web

user can chat with one or more persons
