BANNERS

SPLASHES This magazine only has one convention on it. Which is a splash, usually this convention contains a tempting aspect of the magazine of why you should buy it, there is no difference here. The magazine believes its a worth buy as it only cost £2 pound. For this reason is placed in a splash a different colour than the rest of the background. Coloured in black to contrast with the yellow splash background.

AND

The splash is yellow which coordinates itself with the cover star’s bright and attractive dress. As the cover star is the main attraction to the magazine. Its almost as if to say “if you want a magazine about her, then don't worry its 2 pound so you “should” buy it” The fact its the same colour and in the same general area tells us that the offer is as much of a reason o buy the magazine than the cover star. If the two go hand in hand like they've been designed to, then the magazine will be tempting to the average consumer.

DATE/PRICEBARCODE

No Mise-en-scene can be discussed here however conventions can. All magazine and products have a bar code, so it is only a necessity but a convention of magazines. Usually the barcode is in the bottom right of left of the page, as far away from the main cover star as possible. However because of its colour and size, it has been placed in the middle of all the Coverlines. This way it is harder to find, which is the point of a barcode. So its hard to find, not part of the magazine design, but can be founds if necessary

The date and price of the magazine is located usually in a hidden area. This is conventional as the same idea of it being hidden whilst also readable has been adopted for both the price and date. Its text size is extremely small. Emphasising the idea stated previously. This information isn't a vital part of the design, and is more formal. The editors don't want the magazine to seem formal, so they hide all the black and white information inside all the colour and pictures. Making the magazine informative if wanted, whilst also being creative and attractive.
