ake our advice, step into the lobby of the Corinthia London and look up. Above you will be the Full Moon,

a crystal chandelier designed by talented Parisian Chafi k Gasmi and produced by Baccarat. At home in its custom-fi tted domed glass atrium, 1,001 crystal baubles make the 4.15 metre-wide chandelier the largest of its kind ever created. Look carefully and you’ll spot Baccarat’s signature red crystal lying at the heart of the two-tonne piece. The creation was a collaborative eff ort, with Gasmi working closely with interior designers GA Design International. Baccarat partnered with MTS, a prototype company, to work on the structure and commissioned Le Deun Luminaires.

n what may be furnishing’s answer to the Venus fl y trap, the Bloom armchair is a fantastical creation by Philippines-based designer Kenneth Cobonpue. The botanically inspired chair is handmade of microfi bre, stitched over a resin top, mounted on a steel base. It comes in a variety of colours including moss green, lime green, yellow, muted red and black. Invisible supports form shapes reminiscent of soft and graceful musical tones. The playfulness and realism of its form is a testament to Cobonpue’s talent.

hat's the connection between the Romans, Antoni Gaudi and SICIS? Answer: a love of mosaics. SICIS’s collaboration with Christian Lacroix on a

new premier furniture collection utilises intricate Italian mosaics. Theodora is the icon and symbol of Ravenna where she reigns in the basilica, laid out in

mosaic splendour. Lacroix said with this furniture, the mosaic work is kept to a minimum otherwise it would look heavy handed.

f you’ve ever considered yourself a bit of a spinner then the new chair from Marzorati Ronchetti, which debuted at the 2011

Milan Furniture Fair, may be just the thing to test the theory. The chair, designed by Thomas Heatherwick, looks just like a spinning top. Each chair is handmade and horizontal grooves create an impression of spinning. The peripheral edge and foot of the chair feature a leather trim to prevent damage to the fl oor, should the sitter fancy a bit of a twirl.

The seating acts as a suspended sculpture with decorative leather elements making it structural. The product is the result of a collaboration between architect Jean Nouvel and Molteni & C. The SKiN cover comes in leather or double-face felt, featuring geometric incisions which cannot be removed. This lounge seating has an elegant profi le and is available as a sofa or chair.

asily one of the most luxurious pieces that may ever line a wall or your table, Ysenberg tiles and tableware are for those with a deep wallet and an eye for gold. These objects have a 22-karat gold foil inlay, which lends opulence to an otherwise everyday product. Each unique tile is crafted in small factories in Austria, using traditional glass blowing techniques. The process is a complicated one, with layers of glass and 22-karat gold having to be melted into place, without disrupting the design.

eng shui with rock’s rhythm, this radiator can warm you and your interiors up in no time.Radiators defi nitely don’t have to be plain or ugly looking grills tucked away in a corner of your room. They can be modern, stylish and eye-catching as well. Karim Rashid designed the Rock and Roll radiator which brings a sense of contemporary design to an otherwise overlooked piece of interiors. The Rock and Roll radiator is made of Domovari, a combination of pure minerals and clear resins. Small, oval-shaped tiles have been placed on top of each other to form a stack.

ooking like a tinted cross between a vase and a bulb, the Vessel series of lights, by industrial designer Samuel

Wilkinson, emphasises the design power of hand-crafted, and mouth-blown objects. Each piece is unique, with the glass hand blown by London-based master glassmaker and designer Stewart Hearn. When illuminated the glass tint mutes the light, without hiding the form, producing an unexpected irregular refl ection that appears holographic.

Robert Majkut's Whaletone was inspired

digital piano that resembles a whale breaking the waves. Thankfully the Whaletone is not just style and no substance - the four-channel amplifi er, dynamic sound and comfortable keyboard make it sophisticated enough for professional musicians.

t fi rst glance, the undulating fi breglass wall in Dubai's Switch restaurant doesn't really resemble a desert. To us, it looks like something from a science fi ction movie.

But the inspiration behind Karim Rashid's striking surface is the dune-fi lled landscape of Arabia. The restaurant is located in the unlikely venue of Dubai Mall. "Just because the mall has banal

interiors, it does not mean that the public does not want interesting, inspiring shops and restaurants," said Rashid. The man may have a point.
