‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
Good Morning & Welcome to Friday's trading action at Dalal Street, dated 26th
of October 2018.
This morning, the SGX Nifty is indicating a positive open for our stock markets and that's in
line with our call of the day which suggests Dalal Street will make a serious attempt to
claw back from its recent rout.
Perma-bulls' camp would be sincerely praying that early morning strength is just the start
of all the positive things at Dalal Street.
The big question: Should the buy-and-hold crowd keep hope and the faith for
sizeable rebound?
Honestly speaking, it's difficult to answer as the sentiment has been darker recently, but
having said that it appears Dalal Street will most likely end a torrid week on a positive note.
The few catalysts in favor of bulls:
1. Steady oil prices: Crude-oil prices set for a monthly loss of more than 8%
2. Wall Stages a comeback. The Nasdaq Composite Index registered its biggest
increase since March while the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 400 points,
after tumbling 600 points Wednesday.
3. U.S Treasury yields steady. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note was at
3.136% which marked the lowest level for the debt since Oct. 2, 2018. It's good to
see much of bond-buying have appeared to ease on Thursday indicating equities
will be the preferred asset class.
4. Extremely oversold technical conditions for our benchmark indices.
Bottom-line: Well, this could be just the start of bull run provided there is a resolution of
the trade standoff between the U.S and China.
Long story short: Make hay while the sun shines.
Outlook for Friday: Positive session likely.
Judging by early action at SGX Nifty, a positive open on cards for our stock markets. The
bulls camp will continue to pin hopes on extreme oversold conditions as that could act as
key catalyst providing impetus to move higher. From perma-bulls perspective, Nifty needs
to hang onto the psychological 10,000 for both price and momentum to stay intact.
So traders could look forward to buy any sharp declines and for a guy with investment
mindset, it’s still time to keep low profile.

‘30,000 feet view’: The big picture of Dalal Street
•
NESTLEIND UPL
GLOBAL CUES:
• Wall Street rebounded in Thursday's trade with the Dow rising more than 400
points, as investors celebrated a series of strong results from tech giants including
Microsoft and Twitter, as well as auto makers Ford and Tesla.
But at the time of writing Dow futures were trading down 96 points at at
24786 on backdrop of Amazon, which was seen slipping after third-quarter sales
disappointed and its forecast for sales and operating income fell short. As for
Google, profits exceeded analyst expectations while revenue and ad revenue,
jumped from the year-ago period.
FII/DII & OPTIONS DATA:
• As per Thursday’s provisional data available on the NSE, FII’s sold shares worth Rs.
1495.71 crores in the Indian Equity Market. DIIs on the other hand bought shares
worth Rs. 339.60 crores in the Indian Equity market.
• As per option data, key resistance level for the October series for Nifty are at 10,200
strike price as maximum call open interest of 32.44 lakh contracts were seen at the
10,200 strike price. Key support level for the October series is at 10,000 as
Maximum Put open interest of 45 lakh contracts was seen at the 10,000 strike price.
COMMODITY CUES:
• Brent crude oil prices were steady in yesterday's trade as uncertainty on US-China
resolution underscores concerns about economic growth.
The U.S. sanctions on the oil sector in Iran, the third-largest producer in the
Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), are set to start on Nov.
4. The United States under President Donald Trump is trying to reduce Iranian oil
exports to zero to force the country to renegotiate an agreement on its nuclear
program.
• Gold prices were seen trading with positive bias in Thursday's trade. Key medium
term support seen at 31201 mark. Interweek strategy: Establish long positions
between 31501-31601 zone, targeting 32451 mark and then aggressive targets at
32851-32901 with stop at 31101..
• Copper prices were seen trading range bound in yesterday's trade with slight
negative bias. Interweek strategy: Establish long positions between 443-447.50
zone, targeting 465 mark and then at 479 with stop at 431.
MACRO WATCH:
• The upcoming assembly elections in five states: Madhya Pradesh,
Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana. While Chhattisgarh will go to the
polls in two phases on November 12 and 20, the Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram
Assembly elections will be held on November 28. Polling in Rajasthan and Telangana
will be held on December 7. Counting of votes will be held across all the five states
on December 11.
• The landscape is bit scary especially on the escalating trade tension between U.S-
China. This catalyst could be the real villain rattling worldwide stock markets. The
heightened tensions between U.S. -China could not only hamper U.S. economic
growth but derail the global economy at large. At the time of writing, a tit-for-tat
tariff battle between Beijing and Washington remains intact.
• The Federal Reserve remains on its gradual rate-hike path.
Friday: AAVAS, BEL, CAPF, DRREDDY, EDELWEISS, ICICIBANK ITC MAHLIFE
SRF's stock price was seen attempting a rebound
in yesterday’s trade, up 1.38%.
The stock is signaling a major rebound from an
oversold terrain on the daily charts.
The stock is in bullish position where it wants to
ascent towards its intermediate resistance at
1801 zone.
The stock price is signaling a rebound on the
upside from a lower consolidation zone on the
daily charts. The momentum oscillators are likely
to shift on buy side only on any move above 1801
and such upmove needs to be backed by
increases in volumes.
Key support to watch in near term is at 1601-1609
zone. Intraday supports seen at 1691-1701 zone.
Establish buy positions at CMP, as the stock is
likely to run towards 1801 mark and then
aggressive long term targets are placed at
1871+. Place stops below 1689.

CURRENCIES & BONDS:
• In Thursday's trade, the Indian rupee traded at 73.28. Key support now at 71.75. Intermonth strategy: Buy between 72-72.50 zone,
targeting 75 and then aggressive targets at 77 with strict stop below 71.45.
What Technical Tells Us on Nifty:
On the heels of a broad based sell-off in Asia and on backdrop of Wednesday's nervousness at Wall Street, the benchmark Nifty traded with
negative bias in yesterday's trade, down 0.81%. The Sensex slipped below the psychological 34,000 level. Amongst stocks, HDFC, Reliance
Industries and HDFC Bank were the key laggards.
The BSE Mid-Cap index fell 0.58%. The BSE Small-Cap index fell 0.98%. The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, was weak.
Weighing on sentiments were the continuing uncertainty over global trade and the Middle Eastern situation. Unsettling investors were also the
Federal Reserve’s rate-hike path.
Technically speaking, key support for the day on Nifty is at 10,071 mark. The technical landscape will worsen further if Nifty closes below
the 10,071 mark as that would open the door to massive technical selling, possibly quickly towards the 9750-9900 zone.
The intraday bias is negative and selling on any excessive intraday strength should be the preferred strategy.
The make or break hurdles are at 10,775 mark. Intraday hurdles at 10,321 mark.
The price action for Nifty is suggesting that we are likely to see an 9950 -10,511 range in near term with neutral bias.
Bulls Vs. Bears: Time to Pick a Side!!
Volatility likely to be the hallmark of today's trade.
Preferred trade on Nifty: Nifty (10125): Sell on any excessive strength between 10221-10251 zone, targeting 10071 zone and then aggressive
targets at 9945-9975 zone with stop at 10451.
Preferred trade on Bank Nifty: Nifty (24817): Sell between 25150-25300 zone, targeting 24200 zone and then aggressive targets at 23750
zone with stop at 25851.
