UseofthedemonstrationsoftwaredevelopedbySonyCorporationoruseofthesoftwarewithcustomerdevelopedapplicationsoftwaremaydamagehardware,theapplicationprogramorthecamera.SonyCorporationisnotliableforanydamagesundertheseconditions.
Operation
Startthecameracontrolsoftwareonyourcomputerafteryouturnonthecameraandtheimageisdisplayed.
Operation and storage locations

Phenomena specific to CMOS image sensors
ThefollowingphenomenathatmayappearinimagesarespecifictoCMOS(complementarymetal-oxidesemiconductor)imagesensors.Theydonotindicatemalfunctions.
Rolling shutterAsCMOSimagesensorsuseshuttersthatcaptureimagesline-by-line,thereisaslighttimedifferencebetweenthetopandbottomofanimage.Asaresult,imagesmayappearskewedifthecameraismoved.
White flecksAlthoughtheCMOSimagesensorsareproducedwithhigh-precisiontechnologies,finewhiteflecksmaybegeneratedonthescreeninrarecases,causedbycosmicrays,etc.ThisisrelatedtotheprincipleofCMOSimagesensorsandisnotamalfunction.
Thewhiteflecksespeciallytendtobeseeninthefollowingcases:•whenoperatingatahighenvironmentaltemperature•whenyouhaveraisedthemastergain(sensitivity)•whenoperatinginSlow-Shuttermode
AliasingWhenfinepatterns,stripes,orlinesareshot,theymayappearjaggedorflicker.

TheFCBcameraemploysa30×opticalzoomlenscombinedwithadigitalzoomfunction;thiscameraallowsyoutozoomupto360×.
• Optical 30×, f = 4.3 mm to 129 mm (F 1.6 to F 4.7)
Thehorizontalangleofview(1080imode)isapproximately63.7degrees(wideend)to2.3degrees(teleend).DigitalZoomenlargesthecenterofthesubjectbyexpandingeachimageinboththeverticalandhorizontaldirections.When360×zoomisused,thenumberofeffectivepictureelementsineachdirectionreducesto1/12andtheoverallresolutiondeteriorates.
YoucanactivatethezoominthefollowingwayswithaVISCAcommand.

Focus
Focushasthefollowingmodes,allofwhichcanbesetusingVISCACommands.
• Auto Focus Mode Theminimumfocusdistanceis10mmattheoptical
wideendand1200mmattheopticalteleend,andisindependentofthedigitalzoom.
TheAutoFocus(AF)functionautomaticallyadjuststhefocuspositiontomaximisethehighfrequencycontentofthepictureinacentermeasurementarea,takingintoconsiderationthehighluminanceandstrongcontrastcomponents.
- Normal AF ModeThisisthenormalmodeforAFoperations.- Interval AF ModeThemodeusedforAFmovementscarriedoutatparticularintervals.ThetimeintervalsforAFmovementsandforthetimingofthestopscanbesetinone-secondincrementsusingtheSetTimeCommand.Theinitialvalueforbothissettofiveseconds.- Zoom Trigger ModeWhenthezoomischanged,thepre-setvalue(initiallysetat5seconds)becomesthatforAFMode.Then,itstops.
AFsensitivitycanbesettoeitherNormalorLow.- NormalReachesthehighestfocusspeedquickly.Usethiswhenshootingasubjectthatmovesfrequently.Usually,thisisthemostappropriatemode.- LowImprovesthestabilityofthefocus.Whenthelightinglevelislow,theAFfunctiondoesnottakeeffect,eventhoughthebrightnessvaries,contributingtoastableimage.

Slow AE (Automatic Exposure)
TheslowAEResponse(automaticexposure)functionallowsyoutoreducetheexposureresponsespeed.Usuallythecameraissetupsothattheoptimumexposurecanbeobtainedautomaticallywithinabout1second.However,usingtheslowAEresponsefunctionallowsyoutolengthentheautomaticexposureresponsespeedfromthefactorysetupspeed(01htoapprox.10minutes(30h(atnormalshutterspeed)).Forexample,withthenormalsetting(about1second),iftheheadlightsofacararecaughtbythecamera,thecameraautomaticallyadjuststheexposuresothatitcanshootahigh-intensitysubject(inthiscase,theheadlights).Asaresult,imagesaroundtheheadlights,
thatis,therestofthesubject,excepttheheadlights,becomesrelativelydark,andpoorlydistinguished.However,usingtheslowAEfunctionmeanstheAEresponsespeedwillbeslower,andresponsetimewillbelonger.Asaresult,evenifthecameracatchesahigh-intensitysubject(e.g.,theheadlights)foramoment,youcanstilleasilydistinguishtheportionsoftheimagesurroundingtheheadlights.
High Resolution Mode
Thismodeenhancesedgesandproduceshigherdefinitionimages.
Aperture Control
Aperturecontrolisafunctionwhichadjuststheenhancementoftheedgesofobjectsinthepicture.Thereare16levelsofadjustment,startingfrom“noenhancement.”Whenshootingtext,thiscontrolmayhelpbymakingthemsharper.
Back Light Compensation
Whenthebackgroundofthesubjectistoobright,orwhenthesubjectistoodarkduetoshootingintheAEmode,backlightcompensationwillmakethesubjectappearclearer.
Wide Dynamic Range Mode (WD)
TheWideDynamicRangemodeisafunctionfordividinganimageintoseveralblocksandcorrectingblocked-upshadowsandblown-outhighlightsinaccordancewiththeintensitydifference.Itenablesyoutoobtainimagesinwhichportionsrangingfromdarktolightcanberecognized,evenwhencapturingasubjectwithalargeintensitydifferencethatisbacklitorincludesextremelylightportions.
Imageswithwidedynamicrangeareproducedbycombininglong-exposuresignals(normalshutter)withthesignalsofthehigh-intensityportionsobtainedwithashortexposure(high-speedshutter).

Noise Reduction
TheNR(NoiseReduction)functionremovesnoise(bothrandomandnon-random)toprovideclearerimages.Thisfunctionhassixsteps:levels1to5,plusoff.TheNReffectisappliedinlevelsbasedonthegain,andthissettingvaluedeterminesthelimitoftheeffect.Inbrightconditions,changingtheNRlevelwillnothaveaneffect.
High Sensitivity Mode
Inthismode,highersensitivitygainisappliedasstandardgainincreases,reachingagainlevelatMAXgainofupto4xthestandardgain.Insuchcases,however,therewillbeahighvolumenoiseintheimage.

ICR (IR Cut-Removable) Mode
Aninfrared(IR)Cut-Filtercanbedisengagedfromtheimagepathforincreasedsensitivityinlowlightenvironments.TheICRwillautomaticallyengagedependingontheambientlight,allowingthecameratobeeffectiveinday/nightenvironments.WhentheautoICRmodeissettoON,theimagebecomesblackandwhite.
Custom Color Gain
