White flecksAlthoughtheCMOSimagesensorsareproducedwithhigh-precisiontechnologies,finewhiteflecksmaybegeneratedonthescreeninrarecases,causedbycosmicrays,etc.ThisisrelatedtotheprincipleofCMOSimagesensorsandisnotamalfunction.

Thehorizontalangleofviewisapproximately63.7degrees(wideend)to2.3degrees(teleend).DigitalZoomenlargesthecenterofthesubjectbyexpandingeachimageinboththeverticalandhorizontaldirections.When360×zoomisused,thenumberofeffectivepictureelementsineachdirectionreducesto1/12andtheoverallresolutiondeteriorates.

TheAutoFocus(AF)functionautomaticallyadjuststhefocuspositiontomaximisethehighfrequencycontentofthepictureinacentermeasurementarea,takingintoconsiderationthehighluminanceandstrongcontrastcomponents.

Spot Exposure ModeInFullAutoAE,thelevelfortheentirescreeniscomputedandtheoptimumAutoIrisandGainlevelsaredetermined.InSpotAE,aparticularsectionofthesubjectcanbedesignated,andthenthatportionoftheimagecanbeweightedandavaluecomputedsothatIrisandGaincanbeoptimizedtoobtainanimage.Forexample,inanimagewithalotofmovementandwithvaryinglevelsofbrightness,portionswithoutmuchchangecanbedesignatedassucha“spot,”andchangestothescreencanbeminimizedinthatarea.Asshowninthediagrambelow,arangeof16blocksverticallyand16blockshorizontallycanbedesignated.Inthecasewherethecenterisdesignated(showninblack),theleveliscomputedalongwithaweightedvalueforthesurroundingblock(shaded),includingthespecifiedportions;andthentheGainandIrisareset.Thevalueofthedesignatedportionsandthesurroundingareasshouldbecalculatedas100%,therestshouldbesetto20%.TherangeoftheSpotAEframeisfixedto5blocksverticallyand4blockshorizontally.

Slow AE (Auto Exposure)

TheslowAEResponsefunctionallowsyoutoreducetheexposureresponsespeed.Usuallythecameraissetupsothattheoptimumexposurecanbeobtainedautomaticallywithinabout1second.However,usingtheslowAEresponsefunctionallowsyoutolengthentheautoexposureresponsespeedfromtheinitialsetupspeed(01h)toapprox.10minutes(30h)(atnormalshutterspeed).Forexample,withthenormalsetting(about1second),iftheheadlightsofacararecaughtbythecamera,thecameraautomaticallyadjuststheexposuresothatitcanshootahigh-intensitysubject(inthiscase,theheadlights).Asaresult,imagesaroundtheheadlights,thatis,therestofthesubject,excepttheheadlights,becomesrelativelydark,andpoorlydistinguished.However,usingtheslowAEfunctionmeanstheAEresponsespeedwillbeslower,andresponsetimewillbelonger.Asaresult,evenifthecameracatchesahigh-intensitysubject(e.g.,theheadlights)foramoment,youcanstilleasilydistinguishtheportionsoftheimagesurroundingtheheadlights.

High Resolution Mode

Thismodeenhancesedgesandproduceshigherdefinitionimages.

Aperture Control

Aperturecontrolisafunctionwhichadjuststheedgeenhancementofobjectsinthepicture.Thereare16levelsofadjustment,startingfrom“noenhancement.”Whenshootingtext,thiscontrolmayhelpbymakingthemsharper.

Backlight Compensation

Whenthebackgroundofthesubjectistoobright,orwhenthesubjectistoodarkduetoshootingintheAEmode,backlightcompensationwillmakethesubjectappearclearer.

Visibility Enhancer (VE)

Dependingontheimagingscene,theVisibilityEnhancerfunctionmakesthedarkerpartofacameraimagebrighter,andautomaticallycorrectbrightnessandcontrasttoshowbrightpartsclearly.

Temperature Reading Function

Theconversionvalue(hex)ofthetemperaturesensorbuiltintotothecameracanbereadbyusingaquerycommand.Theconversionvaluehasanerrorof±3C,andbecausethetemperaturesensorisinsidethecamera,thisvalueisnottheambienttemperature.Useitasareferencevalue.

“StableZoom”

“StableZoom”isafunctionforperformingcorrectionusingtheImageStabilizerfunctioninaccordancewiththezoomratio,andsmoothlyzoominguptoapproximately36×usingacombinationoftheopticalzoomanddigitalzoom.Thedigitalzoomcanbefurtherusedtozoomupto360×.Atthewideend,youcanobtainimageswithoutanyreductionintheresolutionbecausethedigitalzoomisnotswitchedOn.Ontheotherhand,attheteleend,thecorrectioneffectbytheImageStabilizerfunctionisatitsmaximumsoblurringisreduced.The“StableZoom”functioncanbeswitchedOn/Offintheregistersettings.

MinimumShutter

Noise Reduction (NR)

TheNRfunctionremovesnoise(bothrandomandnon-random)toprovideclearerimages.Thisfunctionhassixsteps:levels1to5,plusoff.TheNReffectisappliedinlevelsbasedonthegain,andthissettingvaluedeterminesthelimitoftheeffect.Inbrightconditions,changingtheNRlevelwillnothaveaneffect.

High Sensitivity Mode

Inthismode,themaximumgainincreases,enablingtoobtainabrighteroutputeveninadarkerenvironment.However,ifthegainreacheshighlevel(upto4x),theimagewillhavealargeamountofnoise.

Variable Gamma Mode

Therearestandard(01h)modeandstraightgamma(02h)mode.

ICR (IR Cut-Removable) Mode
