Young people need teachers who help them conceptualize mathematical ideas and use them in solving problems. A major in elementary and middle level mathematics will deepen your understanding of K-9 mathematics, of how students build their own understanding of K-9 mathematics, and of how K-9 mathematics contributes to the mathematics studied in high school and beyond.
