Cloverleaf County Project Achievement
Helping students develop effective public speaking skills is one of the goals of
our 4-H program. After learning the basics of public speaking, students will use their
knowledge to create a speech about a topic of interest to
them. County Project Achievement is a fun competition for
5th & 6th grade 4-H’ers and an opportunity to improve
their speaking skills. In Project Achievement students will
compete with one another by choosing a project of interest
to them and presenting a demonstration with visuals. This
event will take place on Saturday, February 8 at Clarke
Middle School from 9:30 am until 12:00 pm. Any 5th or
6th grade 4-H’er who wishes to compete in this activity will need to sign up in their
classroom or contact the 4-H office. With 62 different projects from which to choose,
there is something for everyone!
To participate in this competition, students will choose a topic from the list, pre-
pare an informative presentation with visuals and
then present your speech at the competition in Feb-
ruary. More detailed information will be presented
to you during your October and November club
meetings and you will receive a project list. You
may also find detailed information about Project
Achievement on our county 4-H web site along with
a link to videos of sample presentations. Select the
Project Achievement tab at the following web ad-
dress:
http://www.tinyurl.com/clarke4h
Besides learning public speaking skills, participation in project achievement will
help promote self-confidence, improve research and organizational skills, and enhance
sportsmanship and integrity.
Winners from the CPA competition in February will earn the opportunity to com-
pete at Cloverleaf District Project Achievement in Jackson County on March 21. Only
students who participate at the district competition in March may apply for the limited
number of need based scholarships to reduce the cost of 4-H summer camp.

Georgia 4-H Service Project
Georgia 4-H’ers are some pretty amazing people! For 14 years 4-H members have par-ticipated in a service project to benefit Ronald McDonald Houses in Georgia. Ronald McDonald houses serve sick children and their families while they are away from home receiving medical treatment. 4-H’ers are asked to save the aluminum pull-tabs from canned drinks and food cans for this project. Over the past 14 years, 4-H’ers across Georgia have collected over 150,000 pounds of pop tabs contrib-uting more than $100,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.
Snap the tab off and bring to your class to help with this project and earn points for your class at the same time. Be sure to recycle the rest of the can too!
