It started in January 2007 and will end in December 2009. Ten partners in ten European countries have launched the Rainmakers concept under the same visual profile – branding the message of energy efficiency and sustainability towards the world’s most important target group – namely our children. The concept of the project is based on the Rainmaker story; the platform of the project. Based on this common platform the project has launched a suit of pillars with versatile activities with the same visual profile. The project pillars constitute the arenas children seek and operate in their everyday life - school, TV, events, and web. All tools and activities are parts of one integrated programme. Like the story of Donald Duck, the Rainmakers have different names in each country. You find Повелители На Дъжда, Les Faisers de plui, Sateenkaarentekijât, Οι Βροχοποιοί, Regnmakerne, Zaklinacze Deszczu, Duhovnici, Mavricniki, Los Gurús De La Lluvia and Regnmakarna – all being the name of the story and the whole concept. The Rainmaker story The story of the Rainmakers has been translated into ten languages and distributed in three volumes in 10 partner countries. Evaluation shows that the concept is working! The story creates insight, understanding and enthusiasm for the energy subject, a sustainable future and the fact that it is a global challenge. It has been a door opener to the schools and school authorities. The fact that the books and concept were presented as a European project has proved to be an advantage and a quality stamp. Facts about the book: Very well received by both teachers and children in all 10 countries More than 40 000 children have read the books Available in Braille, Bulgarian, English, Finnish, Flemish, French, Greek, Norwegian, Polish, Slovakian, Slovenian, Spanish and Swedish Teachers are committed to continue to use the books High learning value and contents of global relevance according to teachers Low cost per reader (economies of scale) The books are used cross curricular www.kids4future.eu
