1 Holy Qur’an 1.1 Shaddah

The sign is called Tashdid is a sign of emphasis. It is functionally equivalent of writing the

letter twice in other languages.

To pronounce a letter with Tashdid, first the voice will be settled on it and then will be read with the short vowel as marked above the shaddah

1.2 Special case – nün and mïm

In case of nün and mïm bearing shaddah, the settling on the letters will take a little longer, in other words the voice will be prolonged on them before reading them with their short vowel.

This rule explained is also called Rule of Ghunnah, Ghunnah means continuous nasal sound for

about 2 seconds

- These the two letters Mïm and Nün are called Mïm Ghunnah and Nün Ghunnah

2.2 Ninety Nine Attributes of Allah

Allah has described Himself in the Holy Qur’an through His Names and Attributes. Muslims believe that studying these Names and Attributes is one of the most effective ways of strengthening

one’s relationship with God.

The Qur’an says, “The most beautiful names belong to Allah: so call on Him by them.” (7:180)

Muslims are asked to call upon God during their prayers by using the most appropriate names that

relate to what they are asking for. For example, if someone is seeking forgiveness from God for a sin they have committed, they should call upon Him by His name “Al-Ghaffar,” meaning “The Ever

Forgiving.” If one is asking for peace and tranquility in their life while experiencing some tension

they should call on God by His name “As-Salaam,” meaning “The Ultimate Source of Peace”
