YOU HAVE A LABRADOR RETRIEVER, AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG, STANDARD
SHORTHAIRED DACHSHUND MIX
The Wisdom PanelInsightscomputer algorithm performed over seven million calculations using 11 different models
(from a single breed to complex combinations of breeds) to predict the most likely combination of pure and mixed breed
dogs in the last 3 ancestral generations that best fit the DNA marker pattern observed in Civil. The ancestry chart depicting
the best statistical result of this analysis is shown in the picture below.

The Labrador Retriever can trace its roots to the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. The breed dates back to at
least the seventeenth century when they were known as the Lesser Newfoundland. The breed is believed to
have descended from the extinct St. Johns Water Dog which was a cross between native water dogs and the
Newfoundland. Labrador Retrievers were initially trained to retrieve fishing nets from the cold waters of the
North Atlantic. Fisherman brought them to England in the nineteenth century where they were lauded for their
swimming, retrieving and hunting skills. The Earl of Malmesbury is believed to have coined the name Labrador
in order to differentiate them from their Newfoundland ancestors. During the 1800s, a heavy dog tax in Canada
and quarantine laws in Britain drastically cut the number of Labradors in the U.K., but a good breeding program
replenished the stock. Labrador Retrievers were recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1917.
The Labrador Retriever comes in solid black, chocolate, and yellow. The yellow varies from a pale cream to
a rich red fox color. Some Labradors also have white chest blazes. The Dudley variant is where the nose is
pink, though this is quite rare. Non-AKC registries sometimes recognize a Silver Variant though this may be
classed as chocolate by the AKC.
DO YOU RECOGNIZE ANY OF THESE LABRADOR RETRIEVER TRAITS IN CIVIL?
Usually happy-go-lucky, calm, or easygoing dogs,
though some may be energetic.
Usually friendly and are generally good family
dogs.
Labrador Retrievers enjoy dog sports such as
agility, hunting, tracking, rally and competitive
obedience; retrieving and swimming.
Quite food motivated, which may make it easier
to teach the Labrador Retriever to drop retrieved
items not intended for play.

EARS MUZZLE TAIL
The Australian Cattle Dog was developed in the late nineteenth century. Australian settlers were in need of a
dog that had the stamina to withstand the rigors of the harsh climate and conditions of the country. They also
needed a dog that would be able to properly herd their animals. The breeding efforts began in the 1830s when
a native Dingo was crossed with a blue-speckled, smooth-coated Collie imported from Scotland. The litter that
resulted is considered to be the Australian Cattle Dogs earliest direct ancestors. The breed was introduced
into the United States by two Californian fanciers in the late 1960s and the American Kennel Club recognized
the Australian Cattle Dog as an official breed in 1980.
The Australian Cattle Dog comes in either Blue Speckle (black, gray, or tan) or Red Speckle, where the coatis speckled or mottled. Black, red or tan patches or markings also exist.
DO YOU RECOGNIZE ANY OF THESE AUSTRALIAN CATTLE DOG TRAITS IN CIVIL?

training, allowing them to participate in activities
such as agility, flyball, and Frisbee.
Herding tendencies may lead to chasing cars or
herding children.
May be suspicious or cautious around strangers
requiring careful socialization with rewards to
prevent or reduce fear-based defensive aggression.

The Dachshund, also known as the hot dog or wiener dog, dates back to the fifteenth century. Many accept
the theory that the breed originated in Germany, although there is evidence that suggests that the breed may
also have been present in Greece, Egypt, China and Mexico. The Dachshund was originally developed to hunt
badgers, but they are also well-suited for hunting larger game. In 1888 the German Dachshund Club was
founded and a breed standard was developed in an effort to promote a dog that was as beautiful as it was
intelligent. The short-haired, or smooth variety is the oldest and original type of Dachshund breed. The standard
size is also assumed to be the default size before the breed was further diversified and miniaturized. The breed
was introduced to the United States in 1885 and received American Kennel Club recognition at that time.
The Standard Shorthaired Dachshund has a variety of coat colors with solid or bicolor combinations of lightand dark black, red and tan shades. The brindle and dapple patterns are also sometimes seen in this breed
as well as blue eyes.
DO YOU RECOGNIZE ANY OF THESE STANDARD SHORTHAIRED DACHSHUND TRAITS IN CIVIL?
Alert, lively and active dogs.
Enjoy activities that take advantage of its keen
sense of smell like earthdog trials and both
outdoor and indoor tracking. Many retrieve tennis
balls.
Because of their background as hunting dogs may
engage in behaviors such as barking, scratching at
the ground or digging and chasing wildlife.
May be suspicious or fearful of strangers, in some
cases as a way to avoid discomfort from being
picked up due to their long-backed body.

HOW ARE KEY PHYSICAL TRAITS INHERITED?
THE INFLUENCE OF BREEDS ON APPEARANCE
This report reveals the breeds detected in your dogs DNA. It also includes checklists of physical traits associate
with these breeds. Breeds can combine their influences in countless, fascinating ways. Its a unique combinatio
that makes your dog one-of-a-kind.
Your dog may behave like - or strongly resemble - just one of the breeds in its makeup, but - much more common
- your dogs looks and personality will blend aspects of these breeds. Consider the example below...
In this example, you can see how many of Tulas physical traits are due to a
blending of breed influences.
YELLOW COATCOLORequires two
copies of a genevariant and isavailable from the
Labrador Retriever,Poodle, andGolden Retriever.
BLACK NOSEeyerims, lips, pads on her feare all due to copy of the blgene variant t

SOFT CURLis coming fromone copy of thcurly gene varfrom the Poodand one copy the straight vafrom the GoldRetriever pare
FURNISHINGS- the beard and eyebrows - is due toone copy of the furnishing gene variantfrom the Poodle.
SHORT HAIRis due to one copy of one genevariant from the Labrador Retrieverthat is dominant to the long coat ofthe Golden Retriever and Poodle.

WHAT DOES THE MIXED BREED ANCESTRY MEAN FOR CIVIL?
A portion of Civils ancestry was predicted to be mixed beyond 3 generations. While it is difficult to identify
strong breed signals in this mixed portion, the 5 breeds with the strongest statistical likelihood identifiedin the analysis of your dogs DNA are listed below.
The breeds are listed by the relative strength of each result in the analysis with the most likely at the top
of the list. One or more of these breeds could havecontributed to the genetic makeup of the ancestors
indicated by the mixed breed icon. Note that it is highly unlikely that all these breeds are present in Civils
ancestry.
There could also be a breed or breeds present in the mixed breed component that cannot be detected with
the current database of over 200 breeds.

PREDICTED ADULT WEIGHT PROFILE:
Based upon the breeds detected in Civils ancestry and the genetic markers analyzed by Wisdom PanelInsights
as well as the information provided that Civil is Femaleand Spayed, we have calculated the likely weight that Civ
should reach when an adult. The Wisdom Panel Insightstarget weight profile is presented as a range based on th
unique mix and proportion of breeds detected.
The adult weight is predicted to be between 39 - 62 lbs.
Many factors can influence an adult dogs weight, including sex and neuter status. Both of these factors have bee
used to calculate the predicted weight profile. Another major influence on canine weight is body condition score
which is a factor of your dogs lifetime nutrition and exercise regimen. If your dogs body condition is different from
the ideal body condition score, we anticipate that your dog might be under (if underweight) or over (if overweight
the weight predicted by Wisdom Panel Insights.
To learn more about assessing body condition score, please use the Royal Canin Body Condition Score Chart:

TERMS AND CONDITIONSEach dog is unique and their physical and behavioral traits will be the result of
multiple factors, including genetics, training, handling, and environment. Using
a proprietary analysis and database, Wisdom Panel2.0product can provide
insight into the breed ancestry of your dog. The Wisdom Panel 2.0product is
designed and intended to be used solely to either identify the genetic breedmakeup and predict the adult size of such a mixed-breed dog or to confirm the
genetic profile observed in a tested dog matches a particular breed profile. No
other purpose is intended, authorized, or permitted.
Upon receipt of your sample, Mars Veterinary will analyze your dogs DNA to
determine the breed(s) present in your dogs recent ancestry. In the case of a
likely purebred dog, this will involve a comparison of genetic profile in your dog
to a proposed breed. In the case of a proposed crossbred dog (i.e. a dog with
ancestry from two different purebred parents), this will involve determining the
heritage of your dogs sire and dam. In all cases this is done with a reasonable
degree of certainty.
Mars Veterinarys testing procedures are designed to provide reliable and
accurate results. Mars Veterinary is not responsible for any errors in obtaining
the swab sample or for any injuries or loss that may occur as a result.
In the unlikely event that it is not possible to determine breed history or tha
error in the analysis occurs, liability by Mars Veterinary or related companies
individuals is expressly disclaimed. Damages, if any, are limited to the paym
actually received by Mars Veterinary for the specified analysis at issue.
Wisdom Panel 2.0 is based upon the Mars Veterinary database of valid
breeds. If your dog contains other breeds, it may result in the identificatio
breeds, or a combination of breeds in the database, related to the breed
your pets history.
Many cities and communities have breed-specific ordinances and laws that
require special handling or prohibit the ownership of some dogs with a partic
breed in their genetic background. Wisdom Panel 2.0is not intended to be
by regulatory or animal control officials to determine whether a particular b
is legislated or banned in a particular community. Neither Mars Veterinary
any related company is responsible for compliance or notification regar
these matters.
