In September 2017, Spanish public operator Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) ordered six bi-mode tram-trains of the

Citylink type for use in the Line 9 of Alicante, between Benidorm and Denia along the coast. FGV already ordered in 2003 Citylink

tram-trains to run in Alicante suburban and urban network.

The bidirectional light rail vehicles cover tramway applications and full train regional operations at 100km/h and have been

adapted to the particularities of the tram and rail network of Alicante. These 1000 mm-gauge bi-mode vehicles are able to operate

in electric mode on 750 V DC overhead voltage lines but also, on non-electrified lines, they are diesel powered.

Citylink is a modular, barrier-free and low-floor light rail vehicle family specially designed to connect the city center with its

metropolitan area without transhipments, providing a safe and highly comfortable ride.
