Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 20, 2019

FOCUS: Perseverance in prayer and fidelity to God’s ways lead us to the kingdom.

Endurance runners need a great deal of perseverance. They can-not expend all their energy at the beginning or they won’t be able to complete the race. Nor can they run the race without the proper training, fuel and clear direction as to the route. We, too, need a tremendous amount of perseverance to run a race of good faith. Prepared by sacraments, fueled by grace and headed toward Jesus, we can reach the kingdom. LITURGY OF THE WORD: In the first reading, Moses needs help in keeping his hands raised so that Joshua will be victorious. St. Paul reminds Timothy to remain faithful to what he has learned. In the Gospel, Jesus uses the parable of the persistent widow to remind the disciples to pray always without becoming weary.

Second Collection Today the second collection will be taken up for the World Missions. May God bless you for your generosity. Let us all keep the priests, religious, and lay people working in the mis-sions in our prayers.

Please keep the sick in your prayers. Mike Montgomery Christopher Browne Clifford Browne Joe Fenuto Shawn Downey Irene Coyle Stephanie Morgan Jeffrey Jubelirer Sheranne Shea-Jubelirer Michael Griffin Richard Jubelirer Conor F. Donnelly Matthew Koreck Anne Krause Carmella Dick Donna Griffin Fr. Tom Murphy, OSFS Please pray for the souls of all the faithful departed.

Respect Life Reflection Christ Our Hope: In Every Season of Life From the time we are knit together in our mother’s wombs until we take our final breaths, each moment of our lives is a gift from God. While every season of life brings its own challenges and trials, each season also gives us new opportunities to grow in our relationship with God. Today the gift of life is threatened in countless ways and Christ always gives us hope. A woman experiencing a difficult pregnancy can find strength to welcome her child into the world. A man facing a terminal diagnosis can see that the end of his earthly life is only the begin-ning of eternal life with Christ. The Church teaches us that the one who has hope lives differently. May we hold fast to Christ our hope, from the beginning of life to its very end.

The Rosary will bring great peace and holi-ness to your life. It is a powerful instrument for conversion. The Ro-

sary is the best method of honoring Mary. It protects the Church from false teachings and keeps her safe from the attacks from the Enemy. The Joyful Mysteries are taken mostly from St. Luke's Gospel in the New Testament. They involve the joyful events of Jesus' childhood. The Luminous Mysteries bring even deeper under-standing of the public life of Jesus. They fill in the blanks between Jesus' childhood and his suffering and death on the cross. The Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary remind you of how much Jesus loves you. He suffered and died for you. The Glorious Mysteries are the crown of Jesus' tri-umphs.

DOMINGO, OCTOBER 2O, 2019 DOMINGO VIGÉSIMO NOVENO, TIEMPO ORDINARIO
