Giji-Si Juldarigi(tit-for-tat)Every April, in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do(for 4 days)It was started 500 years ago to overcome the local disaster and is a unique folktale with characteristics of agriculture, fishing and commerce.


Boryeong Mud Festival

Boryeong Mud Festival is held at Daecheon Beach every mid-July. Everyone including foreign and Korean tourists can enjoy this mud festival.The festival provides a variety of events and program such as mud massage, large-sized mud bathtubs, color mud, tidal flats experience, opening ceremony, mud rock festival, and a hip hop-live party. At Boryeong Mud Festival, visitors spread mud all over their bodies and enjoy the festival together.

Geumsan Insam(Ginseng) Festival

Geumsan Insam Festival is a health festival that revitalizes your life with pure nature and intense energy. Although Geumsan Insam Festival was originally a community festival, it became a nationwide festival with being selected as a distinguished festival in 1996. Visitors can enjoy a variety of event such as ginseng digging, ginseng bottle making, ginseng path walking, etc.


Baekje Cultural Festival

Baekje Cultural Festival is a historical reenactment festival held every year in Gongju City and Buyeo-gun of Chungcheongnam-do Province, Which was the capital of the ancient Baekje Kingdom. In 1955, the locals of Buyeo started holding ‘Baekje Ritual’ and later in 1966, Gongju City also started participating in the festival. Baekje Cultural Festival, celebrating its 65th anniversary this year, is once again bringing this world-class

historical and cultural festival to UNESCO World Heritage Site Baekje Historic Areas with Baekje’s descendants and tourists from all over the world.

Cheonan World Dance Festival

Cheonan World Dance Festival is one of the best and biggest dance festivals in Korea. Everyone can enjoy this exciting festival regardless of gender and age. Various types of dances will amuse visitors and allow them to transcend the barriers of generation, language, and race.


Giji-Si Juldarigi(tit-for-tat)

Giji-Si Juldarigi, designated as Important Intangible Cultural Heritage No. 75, boasts long history and traditions spanning across 500 years. The rope used in Gijisi Juldarigi is massive, being around 200m long and 1m in diameter (1.8, at the heads), and weighing around 40 tons.

It’s so big and heavy that dozens of smaller ropes are attached to the sides of main rope to carry it, and this is why its appearance is reminiscent of centipede. The villagers divided themselves into two teams called Susang and Suha to play this game. It was believed that if Susang won, the entire village could avoid a bad fortune, and if Suha won, they anticipated an abundant harvest.

South Korea is the only divided country in the world, and the postwar generation has been living together since the Korean War.The 2020 Gyeryong Military Culture EXPO was designed to spread the message of human peace in the divided nation of Korea.The plan is to send a peace message to create a global village without war to create a harmonization and consensus among people around the world.As a divided country, spreading the image of peace and harmony instead of conflict and confrontation will affect the establishment of trust on the Korean Peninsula.The 2020 Gyeryong Military Culture EXPO will mark Korea’s efforts to build peace around the world.In particular, the year 2020 when the Military Culture EXPO will be held marks the 70th anniversary of the Korean War.The Republic of Korea government and Chungcheongnam-do Province will announce 2020 as the first year of world peace to commemorate the hosting of the Military Culture Expo.By reflecting on the pain and damage caused by the war and proclaiming again the importance of peace, it is expected that efforts to achieve reunification and world peace on the Korean Peninsula will be passed on to citizens around the world.

Nonsan Sunshine Land is a cultural space where you can enjoy military experiences and tour the filming site for dramas and movies set in the 1900~1950s. In addition to enjoying the exhibitions, visitors can also participate in various experience programs to have fun with friends and family.

Mr, Sunshine Drama Set

The film set for famous drama "Mr. Sunshine," that ended with great success, was written by the renowned writer Kim Eun-suk and featured prominent actors like Lee Byung-hun, Kim Tae-ri, Yoo Yeon-seok, Byun Yo-han, etc.You can visit the main locations of the drama that depicted the history of the volunteer troops who we should remember as the ones who fought against Japan in the 1900s. The place is highly popular among Korean and foreign tourists alikes.
